  1. The initial thrust of the article was very true, this draft is full of OL's and DL's, thus I think it would be wise to invest in the big uglies early and often in this draft! Ideally, land players throughout rounds 1 through 4 that fit into the new scheme defensively. Building defense first might allow this staff to "steal" some victories they probably shouldn't have any business winning! It would be nice to see some young blood flying around the field making plays, and we agruably have a game changer at FS already in Jairus Byrd. Heck, Baltimore does it every season, why not the Bills?!?! Note: The comment on QB play was absurd, at best, downright stupid, in fact!!
  2. As is the case in these matters, the answer lies squarely in the middle of the argument! It seems to me that the 2 new O-line coaches Joe D'Alessandris and Bobby Johnson have the task of turning him into a bonified OLT in the N.F.L., and the strength and conditioning coaches, but more specifically John Gamble, need to bulk him up for the trench warfare that he will see weekly. I think that Chan Gailey said it best when he stated that this staff would be teachers, so let the learning commence! I'm siding with the notion he wil blossum into the role, just my opinion!
  3. Personally, I'd be very wary of Denver too, so I would take him at 9 and never look back!! I think his stock is going to skyrocket during combine week, where his athletic prowess will make him a coveted pick. Nose Tackles are worth every penny they get. Think B.J. Raji going 9 last year to Green Bay, this guy is better (slightly) than Raji, IMO.
  4. It is close, but I'd opt for the Jax trade, as it stands. The temptation for me is Dan Williams, but NT can and will be acquired later. I think Denver will be hot for him, so he likely won't be available @11. If they are coming up for Bradford (Jax), then Anthony Davis will slip back to 11, and hense the pick, IMO!! I like giving Buddy Nix and Chan Gailey the tools to select at 41 and 75, as this scenario calls for, so here are my picks through 72.... 11.) Anthony Davis, OLT, Rutgers 41.) Terrence Cody, NT, Alabama 72.) Alex Carrington, DE, Arkansas State 75.) Dan Lefevour, QB, Central Michigan Davis' pick is a strict need, Cody is the hub of the new defense, and Carrington is the stout 5-technique at LDE to play in rotation with Spencer Johnson, opposite of Marcus Stroud. Finally, we add the young gunslinger to develop in Dan Lefevour.
  5. I am like you, to a degree, as I have a deal with the Mrs. where I have Bills football beamed in on a Sunday, so my Saturday's are supposedly free of College Football. All I can say about this arrangement is thank God for Tivo!! However, back to the question.... I watched his performance at the Senior Bowl practices and he is going to be a bonified NFL Nose Tackle or DT in whatever scheme he's drafted for. Good balance and power, he seemingly can anchor with his 329 lb. frame, and coaching in the Pros will bring him along just fine!!
  6. Marshawn Lynch for a draft pick, or package him with others, such as Schobel. Rebuilding means younger, so the more selections the better!!
  7. Bruce DeHaven definately has something to work with in Buffalo. It gives him a leg up on his return, the unit should still be ranked high again next year. One phase down, two to go!!!
  8. Obviously, Chan Gailey believes in the old bromide, " There are strength in numbers!", as he has two strength and conditioning coaches and two O-line coaches. By the way, does anyone NOT get the significance of this with the I.R. casualties and the O-line woes?! i think he's "on" to something here.
  9. I think NFL history points to guys playing well into their late 30's, Promo. Oakland had Rich Gannon who led them to a Super Bowl, and if he hadn't been hurt, would have continued playing a year or two more. That 40 year old Brett Favre is playing at a staggeringly high level, and Warner checked out with PLENTY in the tank at 38. Donovan is also playing for a new contract, so I'd venture to say that he will play next year at a Pro Bowl level, barring injury! I would pull the trigger, because he simply isn't Drew Bledsoe all over again. The beauty might be the ability to groom his successor in the next two seasons or so, I like it just fine IF, and it's a big IF, McNabb gets traded to Buffalo. GO BILLS!!!
  10. Hamden's Revenge, are you positive about that being "live" as it seemed to me on the DirecTV feed that neither team had a pulse!! That game set Pro Football back 30 years!!! UGLY!!!!
  11. If you look at the draft order, moving down for DT/NT Dan Williams is problematic. Denver needs a NT badly and picks either right behind us or 2 back (coin flip with Jax!), so his selection is going to be contended if he's as good as advertised!! The answer lies in the scouting and whether the Bills want to gamble on greatness with Terrence Cody, only time will tell.
  12. Blzfan4life..... Who are you? Who, who, who, who? Tell me who the hell are you, who, who, who, who?? Really now, I believe the staff is in the process of looking at TONS of game film seeing WHO played and WHO went through the motions. The film doesn't lie! Losers OUT and players stay. On the draft end of the ledger, work is being done there too! Sleep tight, the southerners are "on it", so to speak!!
  13. The pick at 9 could now be a young NT like Dan Williams from Tennessee. I have thought that his stock would skyrocket, and it could very well happen. His body type has been compared to Kris Jenkins, that isn't faint praise!
  14. I don't think Gresham is dropping to the 2nd round folks, he is a prototype recieving TE along the lines of Tony Gonzales, IMO. IF, and that's a HUGE IF, he were there in the second round, pick 41, RUN up to the stage at Radio City Music Hall and DRAFT HIM!!! As it's constituted on your board, here's my selections. 1st round- Dan Williams, DT/NT, Tennessee 2nd round- (under the assumption Gresham is GONE!) Tyson Alualu, DE, Cal 3rd round- Jordan Shipley, WR, Texas 4th round- Dan LeFevour, QB. Central Mich. My rationale.... Williams will anchor a 3-4 and hybrid defense for years, well worth the pick, Alualu is the speed rusher that the Bills lack, at the present time (production being the key). Shipley is the Bills version of Wes Welker, and THAT is not a bad thing. When he helps our new hotshot signal caller get first downs, we will welcome Dan LeFevour as our next great QB!!
  15. Just a note from an earlier post... Terrence Cody played in front of Rolando McClain NOT Gerald McCoy, but the point you made is still valid. However, maybe the Bills will look at Alabama tape and grab both of them. Why not reunite them as rookies in the NFL, I'd be all for it personally!!
  16. I'll say this, that IF it ever came down to a decision of keeping Owens or trading for McNabb and dumping him, I'm NOT even a little torn by the answer.... See you later T.O.!!!!!
  17. A trade down option will exist IF someone like Eric Berry or Dez Bryant fall in the draft. Suddenly, the #9 pick could be the target of numerous teams below Buffalo in the draft order. That's how the dynamics of the draft work, supply and demand, so Berry or Bryant create the demand im my opinion. I wouldn't trade down far however, IF I were the Bills braintrust.
  18. The players I'd capsulize as mobile, agile, and hostile (to varying degrees) are Levitre, Wood, Butler, K.Williams, G. Wilson, F. Jackson, J. Reed, and Posluszny. They are ALL keepers!! Others possiblities "on the come" are J. Meredith, D. Bell, A. Maybin, N. Harris, and L. McKelvin. All of them are keepers too!
  19. The salient point here, and it has been mentioned, is the wealth of football knowledge IF this happens! By the way, Dan Reeves immediately becomes the assistant Head Coach, in my opinion, and eases the burden Chan Gailey would have had by being the HC and OC. Additionally, I believe that Dan Reeves presence amps up the possibilities of landing a top notch staff in Buffalo. Truly a feather in the cap of Head Coach Chan Gailey right out of the chute! I LOVE IT.... GO BILLS!
  20. When the name Albert Einstein comes up on Bills boards I generally whinse, but thankfully, I always have the immortal Joe Theismann, who in a moment of utter stupidity during a Monday Night Football telecast "renamed" the great scientist the first name of Norman!! Norman Einstein... thanks Joe! My feeling is that Ralph will pass and we will be presented with the best Ralph has to offer, the Buffalo Bills remaining in Western New York. I just have a strong feeling about this topic. Frankly, it makes the most sense, to me. His legacy will be intact at that point. All I can say is God Bless Mr. Wilson.
  21. XTC, here, let me get this through to you, the Bills are going to be "blown up" to some extent, and the overall scheme of things will be drastically changed (hopefully for the best!). Expect EVERY rookie to make this roster and last years' also. The youngsters will definately stay, and some veterans WILL BE weeded out. It happens with every new regime with a coaching change, so essentially, your post is 3 to 4 months premature! The staff isn't in place yet, so how do we know who's "teaching" these players as Chan Gailey stated during his presser. Essentially, all I'm saying is don't be pessimistic as a default mode to the Bills fortunes, the moves made will be the litmus test. By the way.... I believe that 25-30% of this roster gets turned over, that's substantial. Finally, you may just like what you see!!! GO BILLS!
  22. Why do you all seem so frantic over what has been a very Bills intensive 3 months? I had fun with it and NO, I don't listen to the "nattering nabobs of negitivity" ( Just a little plagerism, thanks Spiro T. Agnew) in the press. I, too, believe that the Bills are simply waiting out John Guys' contract in May and he will be gone. They're still paying Dick Jauron, so why pay two men for literally nothing at all? There is no news yet on the staff Gailey will hire so calm down people, better days ARE ahead!! GO BILLS!! Note: Yes, a decade of losing, blah, blah, blah!!
  23. Here is the definative answer for this argument, IF Chan Gailey is a teacher and he is building a staff of teachers, then he will evaluate ALL rostered personnel before anyone gets cut into the street. The film on Brian Brohm is now property of the Buffalo Bills and when he watches him under center against Atlanta, he will be sufficiently intreged to let him wander into camp at St. John's Fisher in July to vie for the obvious OPENING at QB for the Bills, plain and simple!!
  24. Initially, I didn't want to answer such a tragically stupid post because the roster will be purged of current players by late February/Early March, and the free agency market will likely yield some 2nd and 3rd tier talent to help ease the transitionary period and then the April Draft. Wow, I've probably said way too much for one simple football mind to grasp, SORRY!!
  25. As a rule, new regimes come in and weed out losing franchises and add their own brand to the label. I expect a turnover of 25-30% of this current roster, and don't be a bit suprised by the players jettisoned. The film doesn't lie and my view is that there are 30-35 keepers on this team and you can do the math from there. I'd study this group long and hard to cut the dead weight. Trades and outright cuts are coming in February/March time frame, and they will probably add some 2nd and 3rd tier talent to plug the holes remaining after the purge. If they're smart, players from winning organizations will be amongst the interviews in March, although there are slim pickings this offseason. My feel is they will draft WELL!!
