  1. Are you kidding? Then there would be a huge fight over weho is the #1 loudmouth on ESPN - Irvin or Owens. Try putting them in the same studio. And how about the Giants? How good could Owens look alongside Burress and Shockey? Toomer is on the downside of his career, it's a big market with all the media attention you could want, and Eli is a fine QB to have throw the ball to you. And Burress shows they're willing to take chances on questionable character guys.
  2. With Owens in the red zone for that last series? Yes.
  3. There's no way a QB can throw a football 95 mph. I think it's supposed to be like the little league thing. It's a ratio to 60'6. For example, a 10-yard pass at 50 mph is the equivalent of a 100 mph fastball. Pretty meaningless.
  4. Actually, and this is a little OT, but I've felt that the barrage of ads you experience at the stadium has worsened the experience. It feels very minor league with all the gimmicks. Hasn't anyone else noticed how little they show the out-of-town scores this season compared to previous ones? They've replaced it with an epileptic flash of our logo and the NFL's. Anyone know why they don't want us to know the out-of-town scores all of a sudden?
  5. How many GM's who haven't made th playoffs for five striaght years are still managing their teams? Now, how many of those teams do you consider committed to winning? The thing about TD that pisses me off the most is not his ignoring the Oline or poor QB decisions. It's that he's spent 3 2nd rounders on DE's and 2 on DT's and we still can't generate a rush with the front four.
  6. Yeah, hindsight makes this exercise useless. You have to judge TD on results, not whether we expected them to perform at the time. (For Baseball fans, think of the moves Steve Phillips made for the Mets.) One correction, the other half, myself included, think Donahoe is the son of satan.
  7. Most people he grew up with didn't know what state the Bronx was in? What do they teach you in WNY?
  8. Actually...the first drive of the second half, we put the ball up. We scored 7 on a 55-yard TD pass. From then on, we ran 18 times and passed 13, scoring 6 more points. I'm not picking a fight with you. I agree this team needs to run most of the time - as we did, but there are times where you need to pass. And we didn't execute those times well enough. Anyone else notice NE outgained us on running plays 4.2-3.8? And the unnatural acts, so a family walks into a talent agency...
  9. There was that sack on the second offensive play where he simply got beat to the outside, but it was called back for defensive holding. He did not get beat outside after that. There was another play where he struggled to move inside on a blitzing linebacker, but one-on-one, he was too quick to get around.
  10. When healthy, Peters, Gandy, Preston, Villarial, Williams.
  11. Yeah, how many points did he score? How many 20-yar runs?
  12. Reading this thread, it occured to me. I was going to say that loving a football team is like a marriage. It has it's rough spots, but you hang in there because you remember the good times and believe they will return. But then I realized more than half of marriages end in divorce - but Bills fans never leave the team. There's gotta be something to be said for that. Seeing all of you who have been there 40+ years with this team (I've only been a fan since 1990, when I was 6), it's reassuring. I don't think any of us on the board would be watching tonight if we didn't feel there was some chance of a win. So hang on to that. It could be another loss - or the biggest win in a decade.
  13. Since I didn't participate in the other Brady thread...differences between Brady and Aikman - Brady has done this all in his first 5 years, and first four as a starter. Aikman was similar, and I'm sure if Brady doesn't win another in the next decade, history will place him alongside Aikman. For now, many pundits, including Dr. Z., probably expect one or two more. All talent and contribution arguements aside, I think that's the big difference right now.
  14. We all know the Pats list bogus injuries on the report. Does anyone know if the injuries to the three secondary members -Sanders, Starks, Gay - listed as questionable or figments of Belichik's imagination?
  15. Exactly what I was going to quote, except I think it was Mularkey that said it, not Donahoe. What better way to sum up what's wrong with the team's approach?
  16. Don't we use Peters now as the second tight end?
  17. http://www.nielsenmedia.com/DMAs.html They say New Orleans is going to lose up to half its pop. permanently. It was already only the 43rd largest media market. Adding in baton Rouge, it rises to the high 20's. Buffalo, when including Rochster and Syracuse, would only be 18th (of course, you have to add something for Canada). I think the best reason the Bills won't move is because there's no place to move them that be a clear improvement. The largest markets without a team (after LA) are Sacramento and Orlando, both of which would encroach on struggling NFL franchises - Jax and Oak. Then you're down to Portland, which has very little regional support. I'd guess the biggest threat is if some owner like Ziggy does something stupid, opening up a resonable market like Minnesota that would become willing to build a new stadium.
  18. Hey, I was wondering if anyone has a definitive answer on it. I thought it was MacNally, the team website says MacNally, but the media guide sent out to season ticket holders lists Frank Verducci (pg 22). What's the deal?
  19. If we need better players, and the reason we don't have better players is because the GM didn't get them, isn't the only way to fix it to start with a new GM? Hiring and firing involves players as well as coaches, and you're apparently not tired of that. I was talking about Parcells a while ago. Some poster said we couldn't get him because he wanted too much power. I know we can't touch him now. I don't know about no one leaving Notre Dame. There's no one in recent history to compare him to. But people have left Florida and LSU recentlyso I don't think you can say it would never happen to Notre Dame. Plus, Weis seems like the kind to want to prove himself at the highest level.
  20. Not to disagree, but look where the Pats Oline starters were drafted. Same with the Broncos' great line. They can both rotate players in and out. Bottom line - ignoring the Oline goes to a larger problem of the overall competance of the team.
  21. Devil's advocate - why couldn't we offer the Tuna all the power, give him TD's and Mularkey's jobs, give him the president title? Ya gotta think he'd have more power working for Wilson than Jones, right? Also, you don't think giving Weis full organizational control wouldn't be enough to lure him away from ND? I think it would. I think he'd love the chance to compete against Belichik. And why can't we bring back Levy in the Walsh-under-Mariucci mold?
  22. Hey scribo, Do you have asource on this? it would really help me in an argument. Thanks
  23. I wouldn't trust anything the Post writes.
