  1. Thanks, jarthur31, voice of reason for the board.
  2. If we're going by the way we felt the first time we heard it...I was in sixth grade. This island has grass, right?
  3. Lothar, insightful post. I agree, the Bills have done a good job locating and signing UDFA's, but keep in mind, the Bills have only had 12 draft picks in the past two years, two on defense. Since the average team has 8+ picks every year, the Bills have 1. more need for UDFA's 2. more opportunity to offer them. Gause wasn't a great find - everyone knew he was out there, and he even got offers - I think the story said Baltimore and Philly gave him contracts (sorry, forgot link location), but they both took DL's on the first day. Gause knew that and knew he only has to beat out Constantin Ritzmann, himself a UDFA, to make the roster. Once we build more depth and acquire more draft picks (I think we'll get one next year for Henry and comps for Jonas and Big Pat), expect the UDFA's making the team to decline.
  4. Didn't the Bills sign McGahee to a 4-year-deal? Anyone have contract details?
  5. The way I remember it, Butler's team was 8-8 the year he got canned, and that was only because half the defense (Cowart, Rogers, Carpenter, Winfield) went down with injuries in a game at Tampa Bay, when we were 7-4. The year before, we were 11-5, our best record in the decade since the Superbowl years, and a forward lateral away from a serious Superbowl run. We were in a bad cap situation, but Butler had dealt with worse. And for the next person who asks why someone doesn't like TD, it's this simple. Four years, no playoffs. I could've and you could've and everyone else on TSW could've done just as well, even better. I'm not saying he won't make it this year, and I have hogh hopes for this year's team, but Donahoe's leash is getting shorter all the time.
  6. I'd do Henry and Parrish for Calico and a fourth next year. We already have a better parrish and his name is Lee Evans. But we could use a Tyrone Calico.
  7. Yeah, I could see the low grade because taking a running back, no matter how good, when you already have a Pro Bowl running back on the roster (remember, 2002 was Henry's best year) is a very questionable move. So, McGahee has worked out so far. But would I rather have Henry and another first round pick? Yeah, there's a good chance.
  8. Anyone know where Kiper and Scouts had him in their mocks? I can't find it in the archives. Thanks.
  9. Oh, silly Adam. Four years without playoffs, that's what I call long term. And that's also why I'm a proud Donahoe basher. The botched Henry trade is just a drop in the bucket.
  10. Kiper has Rodgers listed as his #7 prospect. And for those concerned about the Tedford QB jinx, Tulane doesn't exactly have a stellar track record either. Then again, everything looks better in hind sight. It could really go either way.
  11. Is it possible you're all viewing this completely wrong? There have been numerous posts saying that Henry is worth more than a 4th - look at Feeley and Lamont Gordon - then why couldn't Donahoe get more, if he's so shrewd? Forget Donahoe's ego and all that, a decent GM would've pulled off the trade because he knows how to market players, not just stick to his word. And for those who trust in Donahoe, when are we going to make the playoffs?
  12. Supply and demand. if everyone is looking to get out, it's cheaper to get in. But I agree with your second point. The one player I can think of the TD traded up to get was Ryan Denney, not a great success.
  13. Hey, does anyone know the player TB is offering? It says in the Insider piece that they were interested in a player for player deal.
  14. Hey Mark, This is only if you have a lot of time, but how many players does Ourlands rate as 1st rouders? 2nd rounders? 3rd rounders? Are they one of the publications that give 50 players 1st round grades when only 32 could possibly earn them? Or are there 32 1st rounders (not necessarily whom they believe will be drafted in the first round though, due to need considerations)?
  15. Can you give us his mailbag question on the Bills as well? Thanks
  16. You mean just when we'll need someone to step in for Moulds?
  17. Aren't you being a bit harsh? You accuse him of not researching the facts, but the only fault you find is poor word choice. This is exactly the kind of story you'd hope the Mrs. reads to have an idea what's happening in the upcoming football season. As someone who works for a major newspaper in one of the nation's largest, most competitive markets, it makes perfect sense to me.
  18. Actually, it sounds like the Cards would not be open to giving up a pick, but would be open to swapping 2nd's.
  19. Henry is not necessarily better. Plus, he's older and oft injured.
  20. Sorry, but isn't this really old news? I think the most scandalous part of the story is the line on the Times' new headquarters. The city used eminent domain to seize land for a private company. Anyone else have a problem with that?
  21. Why does Insider make you pay for older info than Pasquarelli's column has?
  22. I can't think of another kicker drafted that high besides Janikowski, at least in the last decade. Plus, isn't there spposed to be enough guard depth to snatch one in the third rond?
  23. In addition to the valid points already made - that Losman over Bledsoe is a huge improvement and JMac should have even more success in his second year after a successful first season - I don't think there is a guard in the history of the NFL that is worth three wins to a team. So if you want to get to 12-4, one free agent guard, any free agent guard won't get you there. It might get you one win, tops. And IMHO, McGahee healthy for a whole season and even better, as he says he will be, plus Losman's mobility, should be enough to win those at least three of the 4 close losses (3 early games we lost by 8 points and the season finale), and there's your 12-4.
