  1. Does anyone know the source of this statement in note 1? "Analytics staffers on NFL teams ranked the Bills among the top five most analytically advanced in the NFL."
  2. I was looking at More Stories, should have looked at latest: https://theathletic.com/author/joe-buscaglia/ Yeah, should've checked twitter before posting. Good for him to get a three week vacation.
  3. Does anyone know if he's alright? He's still listed on the Athletic website, so I don't think he was laid off, but he hasn't written anything since June 12.
  4. So, back to what Schefter said, a $3.2 billion revenue decline is $100 million per team. The salary cap is ~$200 million (slightly more). A 50% cut in the cap would be $100 million. Meaning that, if you take what Schefter is reporting at face value, the players would bear the entire loss.
  5. Seems weird to do it on a Saturday, if days are still a thing. It's usually on a Tuesday, no?
  6. USA Today has moved us up to 6, also: https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/2020/04/27/touchdown-wires-post-draft-power-rankings/4/
  7. Other than being low on the pass rushers, what really stood out?
  8. You really have to account for ties and alphabetical listing. The Patriots aren't 12; they're T-9. Same for Rams, Steelers, Chargers, Broncos and Jets.
  9. Didn't see this posted: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001107404/article/nfl-power-rankings-bucs-bills-shoot-up-via-free-agencytrades Bills move up from 10 to 8 from the post-Super Bowl rankings. Pats drop from 8 to 16. 11 of next year's opponents fall between 16 and 26. Also, I don't get the Steelers love.
  10. I wonder if the Niners are holding off on an Armstead deal to prioritize Brady. Edit to add that I agree with the OP that they seem to be similar players, with Armstead being bigger and more athletic.
  11. Whose snaps would he be taking? Hyde, Poyer, Milano, and Edmunds all played more than 90 percent of available snaps. He's not taking one of them off the field. He's also not replacing Taron Johnson in his slot role. Buscaglia mentioned that he would fill the big nickel currently played by Neal, but Neal only played 16 percent of the snaps. Is he just getting ready for Poyer to leave next year? If so, I thought Jaquan Johnson looked promising for that role. I really don't understand this.
  12. Thought this was interesting: If you put the 538 expected winners into the NYT playoff simulator, the season comes down to the Week 17 game between the Colts and Jaguars, which 538 projects as a 50/50 tossup.
  13. Didn't Johnson not have any snaps last week? What about Johnson inactive and Oliver takes snaps at end?
  14. For what it's worth, that's significantly behind the S&P.
  15. I'm surprised we haven't brought on Rob Chudzinski in some capacity.
  16. You chose the objective criteria of 24 PPG, and I was just responding to it. I'm not using the word "savior" - that's your strawman. When Tyrod started in 2015-16, the Bills' offense averaged 24.7 points. Your response seems to be that the offense did not perform as well in 2017. I agree. I think they took the first step toward fixing that in getting rid of Dennison, and the next step will be adding (back) a #1 WR. My choice would be Sammy Watkins, if he makes it to free agency. Did Tyrod "suck" with Watkins in 2015-16? I don't think so, but that's a less objective question. The Bills averaged 24.7 points, which was your chosen measure. I would point out that Watkins only played 21 games total and wasn't himself for most of the 8 he played in 2016. In 13 games in 2015, he had 1,047 yards and 9 TDs.
  17. Tyrod averaged 24.7 point pet game in 2015-16. I think we need a #1 WR who can push Benjamin and Jones down a rung.
  18. I'm seeing different numbers, too. I guess we'll find out at the combine.
  19. He played this season at 289. Hurst is definitely a 3-tech. Key to being a 5-tech is length.
