1/24/21 AFC Championship Game Postgame Thread
dave mcbride replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You have to try the two-point conversion at some point, and doing it when the Chiefs D is playing like it was garbage time (which it did on that drive) seemed like the perfect time to do it. They were a lot more lackadaisical and the Bills had a bead on them, largely because it was 38-15. The reason fans don't like the call is because it FAILED and crushed any smidgen of hope no matter how false that hope may have been (i.e., the Bills had zero chance to win the game at that point whether they converted or not). It may well have failed all three times given that the Bills don't run the ball well at all and the most effective 2 pt conversion plays are inside runs. -

Knox is actually one of the league's faster tight ends (4.58 40 time). -

If you're looking to save some money, Mario Addison seems like a candidate. He has a $10 million cap hit if he stays and a $2 million hit if he's cut. He's just not that good and seems easily replaceable. I mean, he's OK, but he's the ultimate DE JAG. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/mario-addison-8871/

If KC wins, the AFC will be up 28-27 in SBs. My memory is long enough to remember when the Bills were losing SBs and people said they played in the JV conference. -

I like Mahomes. Screw Brady. -
Um, no. He basically won the Colts game single-handedly, and played a LOT better than his stat line vs. Baltimore. Kubiak gave Allen one of his highest grades of the season for that game. Bear in mind that Gabe Davis dropped a pretty easy TD pass in that game, and that it was effectively over at the end of the third quarter.

Yeah, but I think it was more due tot the fact that he was really, really banged up in that Baltimore game. He wouldn’t have played if it was a garden variety regular season game.

?? - Beasley had a huge game last night.

I actually thought it was fine to call it. Look: you need to convert 2 two-pt conversions no matter what, and why not try it when it still looks a little like garbage time to the Chiefs? The Bills clicked on that drive, and it seemed like the right time to do it, with the D possibly a little more lackadaisical. Regardless, the Chiefs could score at will and the Bills were not going to win that game. This is a pretty good take, by the way: https://www.si.com/nfl/2021/01/25/buffalo-bills-not-aggressive-in-loss-to-kansas-city-chiefs

Diggs after game watching KC ceremony....

I’ll say something. Brown effectively played in 8 games and had 458 yards and a 63.5 percent catch rate (very high for a deep threat receiver and the second best of his career). Prorated to 16 games, he would have had 66 catches for 916 yards, 6 TDs, and 13.9 ypc. For a #2, that is excellent. He played extremely well vs. Baltimore last week too, making tough catch after tough catch. But you didn’t mention that. He is also *clearly* not 100 percent. When he is healthy, though, he is very obviously a difference maker. Baltimore certainly didn’t cancel him last week.
