  1. I love a new -ist more than the next guy but "Petro-Oligarchists?" Turning this thread into a Red Dawn tribute is my happiest hijack ever. "Prologue/Opening Narration: Soviet Union suffers worst wheat harvest in 55 years... Labor and food riots in Poland. Soviet troops invade... Cuba and Nicaragua reach troop strength goals of 500,000. El Salvador and Honduras fall... Greens Party gains control of West German Parliament. Demands withdrawal of nuclear weapons from European soil... Mexico plunged into revolution... NATO dissolves. United States stands alone. "
  2. You can't watch this trailer and not get fired up for Dwight Drane's doomsday predictions. Bring it ya Russian bitches. The American midwest is ready for you.
  3. Still works for me. Creeptastic.
  4. I never get fished into crap like this but I just scanned a lot of those entries. He talks about how he hasn't gotten laid in 20 years and that's why he's doing it. If you click the "me" link, you expect to see a fat tub of turd D&D dork (like most people here) but he's a decent looking dude who should not be having trouble getting laid. And he seems to have a decent grip on reality...of course that's not true. What demons in this guy.
  5. That's not good for Idol if true. The Paula/Simon chemistry is good and her gaffes are part of the charm.
  6. That Foundation news is awful. I just watched 10,000 B.C. It was the least stimulus my brain could absorb without being declared clinically brain dead. Did the saber tooth tiger not eat him because he saved it? Really?
  7. These are all over Philly--saw a bunch at the Jersey shore this weekend. Because I don't believe the Buffalo News price of 22K, I checked. This article lists the price at 4-7K/each, which is still plenty hefty. http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/queens...igbelly_tr.html
  8. Right but Peters could do a lot to stay in top shape at LT--minus the hitting. Edwards and other QBs don't throw balls a million times during an off-season but they lift, run, swim, and do other sh-- to keep their bodies in top condition. RBs don't let linebackers maul them every day but they are working on their legs and strength. You think Peters did that last off-season? No chance. He was a punky B word last year, nowhere near a top competitor with a top attitude. Still the best lineman the Bills had last year, which is like being the tallest Lilliputian. And his talent--despite all the times he mailed it in and !@#$ed up--will be missed.
  9. It seems like Denney is averaging a sack a day in minicamp. I'd love to think that Denney has turned into a beast but the truth must be that RT is a mess right now.
  10. He will have one job this season. It's 3rd down...time to get into the game and find the guy with the ball. I doubt he'll see much action any other time than passing situations.
  11. You better be telling the truth.
  12. The government that wipes your ass, gets you to blow your nose, and generally takes care of all the children who can't take care of themselves. See gun laws, tort reform as proposed by you, cigarette laws in private businesses, and on and on.
  13. Guess your ability to debate peaked 4 posts ago. Thanks for bowing out.
  14. There's a law that forces juries to award zillions? You proposed creating two new laws to keep people from doing stupid things. The motherment you complain about regarding gun control is the motherment you want to intervene on healthcare. Hypocrisy, know thyself.
  15. Or write more laws to help people from hurting themselves. Like cigarette laws. And fat taxes. And gun control laws.
  16. The problem with both of these is that they hurt the person who got !@#$ed over by the doctor. Should the paralyzed person be limited to 150K in damages because of an arbitrary law? Should they have to pay their own way with a lawyer? That's not fair either. The systems that mandate damages/penalties are awful (see mandatory sentencing) because they remove the human element. What needs to happen is for juries to stop handing out awards like candy and for judges to tighten up on bad lawsuits.
  17. I love how after Gibbs says, "We're going to let the process work its way through," the press corp asks him to repeat that and the room bursts out in cynical laughter.
  18. Good. It was a loaded question. If you get a car like that in automatic, it becomes a Barbie car. After 20 years of resistance, my wife learned to drive manual in the last month. She's now a total convert and is pissed her (3 month old) car is automatic. That's an "I told ya so" 20 years in the making. Worth every year.
  19. Even though it's for circus-sized people, it is a hot-looking car. Like SDS, in that smallish class, I prefer the look of that new Saturn, which could be a brand salvation for Saturn. Standard or automatic transmission?
  20. Going to see a lot of Lynch/Jackson lining up to Trent's left on pass plays. Walker should be OK on inside rushes but the speed moves will be rough. Trent has a comfort in the pocket so hopefully one forms with Hangartner at center and he can step up and deliver in 3.5 seconds.
  21. No--but it was hard to find one BMW among the sea of them in the parking lot.
  22. With 6 volumes of greatest hits between them, it was a 3 hour singalong. Here's what they played (Billy had just missed 2 shows with the flu--thankfully made it back). Elton John/Billy Joel (solo) Your Song Just The Way You Are Elton John/Billy Joel (duets with bands) Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me My Life Elton John set Funeral For A Friend (***I love this song--my favorite band, who were in Philly on the 29th, does a killer cover of this) Love Lies Bleeding Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting) Levon ( Madman Across The Water Tiny Dancer (***Always makes me think of the bus scene in Almost Famous, and that's a good thing) Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Daniel Rocket Man (***Another candidate for fav Elton song) Philadelphia Freedom (***Big crowd fav in Philly) I'm Still Standing Crocodile Rock Billy Joel set Prelude Angry Young Man Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) Allentown Zanzibar(***he said he knew this would send people to the bathroom but asked us to stay) She's Always A Woman Scenes From An Italian Restaurant (***Probably the song of the night--brought the house down) River Of Dreams (here he transitioned off the piano to rhythm guitar) Highway to Hell (*** sung by a 30 year roadie who looked to be from roadie central casting. Billy bestowed the honor on the roadie because "He's from Chester, whereever the !@#$ that is." Also said that if he sucked "Boo his ass of stage." Of course, inhuman to boo AC/DC--crowd loved it.) We Didn't Start The Fire It's Still Rock'n'Roll To Me Only The Good Die Young Elton John/Billy Joel (duets with Bands) I Guess That's Why The Call It The Blues Uptown Girl The B word Is Back You May Be Right Bennie And The Jets Elton John/Billy Joel (solo) Candle In The Wind Piano Man Elton was understated singing his beautiful songs. Understated in that Elton way with sunglasses that had his name spelled into the sides and a leather trenchcoat with Ariel the Little Mermaid on the back. Billy was 60 year old Italian machismo and had the crowd singing along with more vigor--also spent a lot of time chatting it up with the audience. Next up, Bruce on 10/20 closing the Spectrum before they blow it up (maybe for real this time--he supposedly played his last gig there in April but added more dates.)
  23. About as easy to enforce as the seatbelt law. Unless someone is texting next to a cop car, they won't get caught.
  24. My dad has a similar-sized Miata and is about 5-9. He fits. I don't. I find your tense edit there extremely disturbing.
