  1. Hmm. There is something odd about this post but I can't quite place it.
  2. I'd chime in that Mike Williams wasn't a reach that year. Just about everyone thought he was a solid pick. He just sucked. Sometimes that happens. I want to get back to the part of this thread arguing about Felser's article's intent.
  3. Great information as always Lori. It seems to me that few positions are harder to fill through FA than O-line where teamwork with the guy standing next to you is so critical. It's easier to tell a DB to play man on his WR or drop into his zone. He has to develop teamwork with his mates but the same level of cohesion is not necessary. With that in mind, imagine (in my best Bill in NYC voice) if the Bills had signed DBs and drafted lineman over the last decade. Grr. To someone who implied that Levitre and Wood may not work out, that's a possibility but at least they picked a couple lineman early in the draft and neither of them was a reach.
  4. She is too polarizing and will bring more people out to vote againsther than for her. If she was an actual contender at election time, I'd cast a vote for the "other guy" who could win. Even if it's Obama. Palin is a joke and even if she has her soundbites lined up, she's still a joke.
  5. What I said was that the line should be built by making SMART moves. While some loved the Dockery signing, the guy had a reputation as a soft lineman. Am I an NFL scout? No. Could I have told you he was soft before he came to Buffalo? Beats me. But the fact is that the people who get paid to make those types of judgment did a horrific job signing DD and even worse, paying him an exorbitant salary that no one projected he was worth.
  6. http://www.buffalonews.com/opinion/columns...ory/724105.html That hits the nail right on the head with the Bills offensive woes for a decade. There's a reason you can plug any also-ran into the Denver backfield and they go to the Pro Bowl for a decade and it's not because of the high altitude. That line has been nothing short of amazing--but also a priority. A commitment to the line--in this case a smart commitment that doesn't involve overpaying for useless sacks of excrement like Dockery--will yield great results. It will take time and doesn't sell season tickets but with a stud line, you get a stud RB just "because" and you will likely get at least a good QB. Anyone man enough to disagree with me to my face?
  7. I would probably have voted for McCain until he chose Palin. That he could make such an awful decision and then try to ram it down our throats once he had to have realized how terrible a choice he made was too much for me to swallow. His choice didn't drive me to Obama but it threw me out of the major party candidates to the third party also-rans. Again.
  8. I am no fan of Hillary but this is easy. First, Clinton was a second-term Senator vs. Palin in her first term. Second, running for president always takes someone away from their job--both Palin and Clinton were doing that. Third, Clinton resigned to take a new job in a huge appointment to be Sec State vs. PAlin who will take time off to hunt moose and write her memoirs? Stop listening to the Republican machine. The difference is that Palin has been and continues to be borderline insane. It will be amusing to see her flame out in embarassment in the 2012 election.
  9. I hear a lot about this from older folks and see it as BS. Of those who work for a living today, most work a lot more hours than 30 years ago. Hell, there was once a 9-5 "norm" in this country. That's a joke. I know of almost no full-time person who gets out of work before 6 and most people I know with higher paying jobs are not home for dinner except on Fridays. A large percentage of the people I know work weekends--some almost every weekend. Even consider the concept of "happy hour." That used to be a real "thing to do." Now it's just a small draw for the handful of people who got out of work early. Growing up, my dad was always home by 6. He rarely worked weekends (maybe once a year). He's still working and even he admits that his work life is now dramatically different as he is rarely home for dinner and often works weekends. If anything, what the workplace has lost is a sense of family/outside life. People are expected to work more hours and even work when they are off work (check emails, voicemails, be available by mobile phone). To me, that's the worst thing that's happened in the last 30 years in the workplace. You are doing well because you know how to budget time and get work done. They are kids. When I went to night school after a decade working full-time, I couldn't believe how much easier it was than when I was 18. I didn't get smarter--I was just more focused.
  10. Just when I thought Dwight Drane was being quiet.
  11. Yeah, by people born before 1930. Are you the oldest person on the Internet?
  12. Carve a year off your schooling and the rest of this advice is moot. That's the real way to save a ton of cash.
  13. So says every generation. Many old people die of bitterness. Looks like you've decided that will be your path.
  14. Not quite. That's a long exposure picture. Note the streaking stars. Living in a big city and being a hobbyist astronomer, I am sensitive to light pollution. It's terrible and a long ways from being on anyone's radar.
  15. Ayup. When will all you old bastards and your socio/religious idiocy croak?
  16. I have no objection as long as the people using them are on the other side of the stadium.
  17. http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2009/06/26...tml?_r=1&hp He's about as correct as usual, ie, completely wrong.
  18. No different from a cow or pig and in fact, pigs are probably smarter and more affectionate. I'm just saying it's odd. My wife is a vegetarian. I am in a constant state of failure following her lead.
  19. Your argument is Daffy Duckesque. Constitution Schmonstitution. States and communities can decide things like the definitions of reasonableness in this context, but at no time can it be LESS than the rights guaranteed by the Constitution, which is what happened in this case.
  20. All this dog defense and yet we think nothing of eating a cow or pig. It's an odd thing that my conscience struggles with. It's completely arbitrary.
  21. As usual, you're wrong. It's the best part of his posts.
  22. No, but the state's unreasonbable search's are. School official's stupidity lead to the unreason-ability.
