Lindell needs to be accountable

I agree. The guy has been money for us. I'm not going to run him out of town for missing 2 kicks. -
Bengals' K Nugent is out

Though the incident is unfortunate, that visual was quite funny. An Olineman basically carried him off by lifting him by the horsecollar region of his uniform. Kind of looked like a puppy getting carried around by the scruff of his neck. -
+1. I thought he was too big of a project for us to undertake, but he is proof positive that you can still find gems in the rough. he has been playing VERY well. Well enough that RT is probably the only position of severe need on the Oline.

I agree. I haven't liked him at LB, but he did well at his natural position, more proof that we didnt have the personnel to go to a 3-4. Good game.

I can see that, but the conversion could have been handled better. Rather than scrap the 4=3 and taking what decent players we had on D and playing them out of position for most of the game, we could have simply installed more 3=4 packages and lessened the effect we have been seeing from people playing positions unfamiliar to them. If we had the LBs to switch to a 3=4, I would understand the overnight switch, but not with the personnel we have. It seems like the only person who theoretically would benefit from the switch is Maybin and he can't even play himself onto the active roster. I know schemes are generally an abrupt switch because a new coordinator comes in and wants to install their system, but in this case it may have been better to make the transition a 2 year process. Though that's just my opinion and I could be making little football sense for all I know. -
An interesting D formation yesterday

I agree. Moats has been a happy surprise, especially being drafted as late as he was. I have also been quite happy with Coleman's contributions -
Why are we not playing our drafted rookies?

Your self-righteous pontificating managed to drag down what had been up to this point a largely constructive thread. I put it that it is posters like you, who respond with their gut and post knee jerk reactions rather than actually read what is said that drag down this board. My recommendation: if you don't like the thread, close it and read another one. -

The defense was not fine, as evidenced by the score. Hypothesizing about what didn't happen is not constructive. Lindell should have made that FG, how about our ST should have scored a TD at home... it's all an exercise in futility.

I have family living abroad. Where can I find that? I'd like to buy it for my pops.

I think that may be a bit misguided. though I agree fully that Ralph is THE reason we have been this bad for so long, Modrak is owed plenty of blame. Ralph, as dementia-riddled as he is, still likes to surround himself with "his" guys. I am now actually starting to understand why Mularkey quit, he knew coaching here with this organizational structure was a losing proposition because of Ralph. Modrak is a joke who has kept his job because of his friendship with Ralph. He has been here through Donohoe, Levy, the failed "no GM' phase with Russ Brandon and now Nix, to think Nix is the reason he is here is a bit naive. He has his job because of Ralph. -

I agree that the sentiment is asinine. You play to win, not for a draft pick. Why would you want your team to lose the rest of its games when you are halfway through the season. I could see the thought if it were the last week of the season and a win would knock you down to 2, even though I would hate it. -

You should note I am talking about Modrak, not the coaching staff. They are correctly playing the best guys they can find. -

Some games gets replayed, but cut up for time on the NFL network. -
I only care about #1 if Luck declares. If he doesn't I am fine drafting 2-4

He's tight with Maybin- enough said

Yes, they did improve a lot today.. by playing the majority of the game in 4-3. It took 8 games for Edwards to realize you can't shove a square peg into a round hole.

My original post was simply an observation of players who are even PLAYING. I am not complaining that Carrington, Troup and Maybin aren't starting. I AM concerned that we drafted Maybin in the 1st and Carrington in the 3rd and they can't even play their way onto the bench. You're blind if you think that Modrak doesn't have input as to who goes where on our draft boards. He may not make the ultimate call, but he is responsible for evaluating these guys and is involved in slotting them on our draft board. I've already stated that others have done a far better job than I could pointing out our draft failures. Simply ask yourself, who is that last 1st/2nd rd pick we've made that has been a big-time player for us under Modrak (who joined the team in '01)? Clements in '01 and Evans (whose value to us is overrated) in '04? That's 2 1st round picks in 10 years. You cannot whiff on first round picks. In that time we've had Gregg Williams, Mike Mularkey, Dick Jauron and Chan as Head Coaches, 0 playoff appearances and 3 1/2 General Managers. Like it or not, Modrak's failure to evaluate talent has put all the above mentioned ex-GMs and HCs in poor positions to succeed. -
Obviously you can, but that's beside the point. The whole point is that these games are being shown, for free, in their home markets. Sunday Ticket is advertised as "you can see all the games", but the reality of the matter is most people who buy that $350+ package are being charged that amount to watch their team because they don't live in the local broadcasting area. Essentially you are penalizing fans for not living near their favorite team. Yes, some people take full advantage of the Ticket, but most people I know just get it to watch their favorite team. So, a game that Person A who lives in Buffalo, can watch for free, costs Person B who lives outside of the area around $25 to watch. This isn't a boxing pay-per-view, it is a free broadcast being packaged as premium content by offering extra games many people have no interest in. My point is that businesses like Hooters, who have 50 tvs showing all the different games, should be charged for rebroadcasting, but Joe Schmoe sitting at home should be able to watch his favorite team at home for free and not be penalized because of where he lives. Essentially, you are punished for not rooting for the team in your coverage area. The NFL should allow people to register their favorite team for the year and offer fans a weekly passcode that allows them to watch live streams of only their team for the season.

Come to think of it I forgot Levi Brown. When we take the contributing vs non-contributing players we really only have 5 players from the past 2 drafts on the field. That is 5 of 17! that boils down to roughly a 29% rate of drafting a DECENT player. If you were only moderately successful at your job 29% of the time do you think you would still be employed? -

The pint being most people get an education to give them a chance to start a career with that education and support themselves. If you can set yourself up for life by declaring for the draft, you set yourself up for life. I could see the argument to get a diploma even for a 2nd or 3rd rounder, but not the #1 overall pick in the draft. You sign a single contract and you have enough guaranteed money so that even if you get injured, you can walk away from football having made multi-millions. -
This is a really important moment for us. We need to break the cycle of choking and giving games away in the last 5 minutes. A missed FG and called back kick return point to us heading down that road again. We HAVE to hang on to a lead for once.

I respectfully disagree. The internet sites don't exist because of blackout games. They exist for people like me who don't live in Buffalo and can't watch the games on TV no matter if they are being shown in the Buffalo market or not. A revised blackout policy would not likely affect these sites one bit.
