+1. We land a coach who was the leading contender for the Falcons and who by all accounts had a great interview with the 49ers and people are seriously upset? Inconceivable. Displaced and Weo are making this thread an annoying place for me. I'm happy with the hire and I'm happy we actually have a HC with some swagger and personality. When is the last time we could say that? Ryan is good for FA acquisitions and if he does in fact keep Schwartz and brings in Roman, I don't see what people are whining about.

False. His premise is based on the fact that multiple reporters wrote about a conversation had between Polian and Marrone. The OP states that as there were only 2 parties to that conversation and it would not behoove Marrone to reveal such a conversation took place, then Polian, having decided the "heavy lift" was a but too much for him, leaked the Marrone conversation because he was taken aback by how petty Marrone acted.

It's likely Marrone had a power play in mind at some point during the season. In light of that, what do you think he would have done differently had he been an actual coach looking to develop young talent for the future? Specifically I'm thinking about: 1- Healthy scratches for Goodwin, Koundijo, Bryce Brown and Wiliams 2- Stubbornly refusing to try Koundijo at G 3- Not playing EJ in a meaningless finale to see if he had progressed The idea with this thread is not to bash Marrone yet again, it's to see if you guys think the above players actually have more talent than indicated by the coach's lack of confidence in them. Yes, making 2.1M per year through this year... Add that to the 5.4M buyout he gets from Kansas after that firing and he's making millions to do nothing for the next couple of years.

Even if you think he's a decent HC, Marrone showed his true colors with the classless way he left: burning bridges and badmouthing the team to Polian. If you were a team owner, would you want to hire someone who is likely to try and blow things up when he leaves? Note to NFL owners, learn from a basic relationship premise: "if she left him to be with you, she'll leave you for the next guy."
