Don't sell yourself short, we were all very excited about your objective "insider" info (instagram) that Shady was absolutely not going to be on this team this year. -

I'm actually surprised by this one. -
I am unINterest in this topic. The caps really drive home the point you are making though - we should bring back trade schools because reading and writing just aren't for everyone.

Bills have Air Force WR Jalen Robinette at rookie camp

Very cool. Tell him we're rooting for him and really hope it all works out! -

I would argue that Da'Rick had red flags that kept him from being drafted and those red flags proved to be correct in the end. This kid literally could not be drafted because of a shift in military policy. He had a solid mid-round grade on him. I don't think anyone is expecting him to come in and compete with Zay or Sammy, but I do think he could develop into a decent WR3. -
You DO see how an appeal for objectivity might be hard to take when coming from you though don't you? I can probably count the number of "the sky is NOT falling" posts you've made on one hand. There seems to be a feeling amongst a lot of the doom and gloomers here that the only "objective" reality is some pessimistic "we're never getting better until they follow my plan" response to every single move the team makes. Those who disagree with them, or choose to look at those same situations with an open mind and are willing to give the team the benefit of the doubt, are somehow "koolaid drinkers" wearing "rose-colored glasses." There is no reason to rip on someone for having a different viewpoint that has a more positive spin than yours. Hope is not naive, it's a choice. Positivity is not blindness to a situation, it's a decision to look for positive ways to deal with a situation. You are not a more "real" or "centered" or "objective" fan because you choose to complain.

Bills have Air Force WR Jalen Robinette at rookie camp
ndirish1978 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My point being that if it's a matter of influence, this kid has the right people in his corner. There was a policy in place up until the day of the draft specifically allowing players from service academies to spend their "active duty" requirement as reserves. This policy was scrapped and the new regulations went into place on May 1. The Air Force announced this shift in policy the first day of the draft. It's not like there was a policy already in place stating he'd have to wait 2 years and then he acted like he was surprised by it. This was a shift in policy from what was already in place and was enacted and applied to players who may have transferred out of service academies had they known the policy was not longer in effect. -

This has zero to do with the Bills' influence and everything to do with his agent's influence. If you're not familiar with Holland & Knight, they are a top tier law firm with connections all over the Hill. I see this one going our way. I'd argue that you cannot change a policy that's been in place clearly allowing players to go pro on literally the first day of the draft. You have to give players advance warning of this and allow them the opportunity to transfer if they want to. -
Carucci says the housecleaning isn't finished
ndirish1978 replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Different areas though. Brandon is a marketing and sales guy. Pegulas may be shrewd at investing and experts in their business, but good business people know what their strengths and weaknesses are and find people they can rely on to take care of those weaker areas. Russ is an excellent marketer, we may not like how he injects himself into football operations, but he is good at his job of making money for the franchise. -

This is a forum for FOOTBALL information and discussion. PLEASE stop with the million terrible LAMP threads about how you feel about things. I'm sick and tired of all these "special snowflakes" starting topics based solely on opinions and feelings. If a poster that contributes with links and inside information or gives reports of training camp and practices they've observed injects some personal opinions into a topic, fine. The proliferation of these non-informative or duplicate topics is lessening the quality of this board. -

Brandon makes money. I don't expect him to go anywhere. That said, I do expect him to be marginalized and pushed out of football operations completely. Team McBean are too tight to allow someone to insinuate themselves into the middle of the decision-making process and McDermott has already shown he has enough cache with the owner to get Russ' friends fired. -
with a new GM I'm at peace with waiting on a franchise QB
ndirish1978 replied to stuvian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd prefer we take a QB if this class proves to be as strong as expected. QB fortunes can change quickly. Remember, Matt Barkley would likely have been considered a top pick if he had come out a year earlier. Playing that extra year cost him millions and exposed him. -
This act is tired

[closed]Carolina fans are saying that Beane
ndirish1978 replied to Watkins90's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a message board. You're not getting paid for starting these duplicate threads that contain info that has already been discussed on this board ad nauseum. -
Pardon me, but this whole "puppet" label is BS. Beane will be responsible for his specific set of duties, setting up an organizational structure and will work in concert with McDermott to get him what he needs on the personnel side. This archaic notion that there is only one "real" hierarchy and all coaches should work beneath and for a GM is outdated and ridiculous. I'm super tired of people positing this notion that there will be some hypothetical moment in which there are two players on the board in the draft - the coach and GM are somehow arguing over who to pick and gee whiz, if the GM isn't the one with final say to end that argument he's a puppet. If there are two players on the board, you follow your board. If you aren't organized enough to have considered the value you place on need/position when considering two players, then you have failed in setting up your draft board. This hypothetical situation is premised on the notion that there is a flawed system in place. If your system is flawed you have a much bigger problem than who gets "final say." We're not talking about some junta or cabal of a group of people making a decision, you're talking about TWO people at the very top of your organization making decisions. If those two people can't agree on a decision, your organization is screwed anyway.

Exactly. I would rather have a GM and HC who agree on a vision for moving forward rather than a GM who does what he wants and a HC who yells for the GM to "fire him" in front of everyone at training camp. At the very least we are going all-in with someone's vision. That vision will be executed. Whether or not the vision is worth anything will be apparent in the next couple of years. I find it VERY difficult to criticize this hiring unless you just want to complain about inexperience. It's pretty clear this was in the works from the moment McD was hired.

Jeff and Co - You have now firmly hijacked this thread, as QB evaluations have nothing to do with Beane's interview. Please take this discussion to the shoutbox or another thread, I came here looking for updates and got 3 pages or unrelated arguments.
