Investigation into rising gas prices
TheMadCap replied to Keukasmallies's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
so did the investigation turn up any answers on this yet? -
Apparently, no one has filled him in that Dareus will be a DE in the 34 defense. He reiterated his misinformed opinion again last night...

I partially agree with you, 49% or so...

Good God, how did I miss this thread? One of my favorite topics, I heard it put best as: "the issue of slavery was the direct cause of dis-union, and the dis-union was the direct cause of the conflict". Of course the more precise reason is a combination of many factors (Southern/Northern nationalism, politics, economics, etc), slavery was the issue that brought all others to a head...

Dukes is often one of the least informed member of Total Access. Occationally he will come up with a good point, but these do not make up for the ignorance of teams/players not in the spotlight. Two words Mr. Dukes that completely blow your ill conceived point out of the water --- KYLE WILLIAMS...

did anyone bother to read the article? It says she got busted because one of the boy's mommas found nudie pics of her on the kids phone. Really? How f'n stupid are these people? I think this shows the lady either has brain damage or serious mental issues to be dumb enough to hang herself by sending evidence to a 13 year old. Throw the book at her for being a complete dumbass...

Make sure you fill out your organ donor card
TheMadCap replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
This is one of the reasons you are NOT permitted to know who the organ is donated to. That and they want to eliminate the possiblity of the "you owe me" situation. It is possible to find out if the recipient requests that they want to meet the donor's family, but the family can decline. This was what happened to me, BTW... -

TheMadCap replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
wow. As a transplant recipient, I am shocked, stunned and disgusted that he's even being considered. Back when I got my transplant (1995), if you had even the slightest thing wrong with you (other than your organ failing that is) you would be disqualified. Things like lupus, cancer, mental illness, etc. The rational was that they wanted to give the transplants to those who could possibly keep them the longest and had the best overall prognosis. This has radiacally changed over the years, mainly, because there is such a short supply of organs, that the docs want to use every one, so the restrictions are limited. This MAY (I have not researched this) also have resulted in a lower transplant organ's life as well. I know people who's elderly famialy members with ever medical problem in the book have had kidney transplants these days... -
one quarter? No way man, took me at least 5 bucks worth. Great game though! You DO have to make it through the entire last stage on one game (3 men total) or the game ends and you have to start over from the beginning of the game. I would always try and get past the second to last boss on my first man to maximize the chances of completing the game. Did it once...

not to mention that the Federal Navy had essentially stopped all import/exports with their blockade, and the nearly complete destruction of major railways throughout the south by 1865, it would seem HIGHLY unlikely that any help from Europe was coming...

Interesting read on former cosmonauts
TheMadCap replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
No, what happened is that when they undocked from thier space station, the explosive bolts holding the capsule (Soyuz 11) to the station which should have fired in sequence fired simultaneously, causing a valve to open and exposing them to the vacuum of space. The capsule landed normally and when the recovery team opened the hatch, all three cosmonauts were dead. Autopsy and investigation revealed the cause of death and the mechanical problems, and the Soyuz underwent massive redesign. These still remain the only deaths which occured in "space" which is defined as above 100km... -
Interesting read on former cosmonauts
TheMadCap replied to Beerball's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I can't remember which Soyuz it was, but there was another accident later in the program where the capsule depressurized in orbit and killed all three cosmonauts before reentry even began. While the early Soyuz craft had many engineering issues, this rocket can be considered the "Safest" man-rated launcher on Earth. Soon to be the "only" man-rated launcher... -
No doubt. They are actually married now. Who would have figured? Nothing like having to register as a sex offender for something that occured between you and your spouse, although I know of someone this has happened to...

How Long Before The Nuclear Power Plant Situation..
TheMadCap replied to Dante's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Both are on my list. I realize I am a bit light on recent people simply because not enough time has elapsed to properly assess their contributions. I am also biased towards scientists/mathematicians and astronomers. Perhaps I should have called it "12 most important influential scientists in history" 1. Nikola Tesla 2. Sir Issac Newton 3. Galileo Galilei 4. Johannas Kepler 5. Albert Einstein 6. Leonardo de Vinci 7. Archimedes 8. Oppenhiemer/Feynmen/Fermi 9. Thomas Edison 10. Aristarchus of Samos 11. Heron of Alexandria 12. Louis Pasteur Now back to the topic at hand: A most serious situation to be sure, but I must reinforce that labeling this a Chernobyl-like event is vastly overstating the facts at this point. In a widespread and sustained loss of electicial power, a nuclear plant would be the last place to get caught near, simply for the reasons you are seeing now in Japan: no way to dissapate the heat generated by the reactor and spent fuel in storage pools... -

Or Paris apparently. On a semi-related note, I rank Nikola Tesla as #1 in my "smartest person to ever walk the planet". Who you got Tom? -

TheMadCap replied to Dante's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Absolutely incorrect, sorry. You have to understand the Japanese culture. This kind of thing just does not happen on a large scale basis, a-la Katrina. Of course, there will be some isolated incidents, probably by younger people, but the Japanese know how to police themselves... -
How Long Before The Nuclear Power Plant Situation..
TheMadCap replied to Dante's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Mad props! Well Done! What annoys me about the current situation with respect to the news coverage is everyone reporting, "could be CHERNOBYL-like incident! CHERNOBYL!!!! CHERNOBYL!!!! DOOMED!" This situation is not even remotely similar to what happened in Russia. It's a bad situation to be sure, but we are not close to Nuclear Armageddon just yet... -

tab sites are hit and miss. May of them recycle the same stuff between them, and if you get one that is wrong, it gets spread around. I have a few that I really like to use: http://membres.multimania.fr/phyzik/Musique/ this has some Zeppelin, Beatles, Floyd, Bowie, Radiohead, but be WARNED. It is full of popups which is quite annoying. http://www.cygnusproductions.com/rtp/ the Rush Tablature Project - no explaination neccessary. Recently, I have been using this: http://www.songsterr.com/ It is free, but for 10 bucks a month you get lots of other very useful features like Print function, zoom, repeat, speed, etc. Most of em are pretty good, but they are written by users so some are crappy. I would also agree that youtube is a great source for lessons, I have learned tons of songs that way. Pretty much every song you can think of is being played by someone on there. Good luck Pooj... -
haha! Actually, my wife was saying that she thinks I am the most insane person on earth because I am apparently obsessed with uniforms, to her anyway. I am always commenting on what looks good, bad, etc. Funny cause I nearly picked out some jeans that Cris Angel would wear by accident yesterday because of my non-fasion sense...

Eh, I keep some water beer around for working in the yard. I can't do a Guiness after cutting the grass when it's 100 degrees out. I thought the Fireside Nut Brown was great the first year, but subsequent years have been disappointing. Same with the Summer Shandy, I thought this years brew was horrible. I had a nice Sam Adams the other day you might like, try the Cherry Wheat if you have not already...
