BYU basketball player kicked off team
Ramius replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
I completely assuming here, but does anyone have a picture of the guys girlfriend? I'm guessing this is less a case of premarital sex, and more a case of "that black guy slept with one of our white women." -
Chad Reuter (Sports Xchange) Ranks 3-4 prospects
Ramius replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What i don't understand is why "Kyle Williams can't play the nose" even though he's double teamed on the majority of snaps. He's occupying 2 blockers, so what does it matter if he's a fat blob or a penetrating tackle? If anything, KW is better, because unlike the fat blobs around the league, Williams can be left in on passing downs. Whats the difference if KW "blows up" the center into the backfield, or simply blows by him into the backfield? -
Chad Reuter (Sports Xchange) Ranks 3-4 prospects

I know. Kyle Williams was lost and didn't contribute last season in the 3-4. -
Byrd played much of 2010 out of position, and has severe tackling issues. I think and hope he can get better, but the kid did not play well in 2010. Him and Wilson are both suited to play FS, and i cringe at the thought of either one of them having to play SS all season long. Whitner or a FA can start along side 1 of those 2, but neither one of them can come up and play a significant role in stopping the run. Yeah, Byrd made a play or 2, but overall he did not have a good season.
-
Great signing, and this improves our depth. Wilson is also a nice spot-starter if necessary. Now let's wither re-sign Whinter or get a good SS in here to start alongside Byrd/Wilson.

Those are frickin awesome!

And the cowboys did nothing under bill Parcells. Buffalo wasn't going anywhere in 2010. That was the right time to make the switch, and they'll continue it this year. They even phased it in with the 4-3 once they realized that the players weren't ready to run the 3-4 full time.
-
Fair point on the numbers. I was more referring to how greggo ditched guys like Big Ted. the 2009 defense had basically no talent worth a damn save Kyle Williams. Gailey decided to take a crappy defense, and change the scheme to one that he thought was better, the 3-4. In 2009, there were a ton of screams to ditch the tampon-2 and run the 3-4. Most people were happy that we were switching. In the offseason, Gailey and Nix acquired 4 players specifically for the 3-4, in Edwards, Davis, Troup, and Carrington. I fail to see how this was arrogant or stupid. should coaches never change their scheme? Not even on a team in the middle of a total re-build? If you are going to change scheme, there's no better time to do it than when buffalo did, when you are at rock bottom.

What talent? the Bills had minimal talent on hand. Their long term vision was to switch to the 3-4, because thats how he wants to run his team, so they went about it. You'd have a point if our 2009 D was great, but it was garbage. Greggo was arrogant for dismantling a good defense in 2001. Chan was not for changing a crap defense after 2009. Not sure where you guys are getting this hindsight from. Just because Spiller didn't have a great 2010 doesn't mean that no one wanted to draft him in the 2010 draft except for Buffalo. He was one of the top prospects (easily top 10) going into the draft, and a lot of experts had him as one of the top 5 players overall. He would have gone somewhere close to #9 regardless of who was picking. And we don't know who SD would have drafted at #12. Since they took Matthews, there's a good chance they would have taken Spiller if he was on the board. For all we know, SD was afraid of losing out on both, and thats why they traded up.
-
The only people that think Wilson is better than Whitner are the "genious" posters on message boards. No one in the NFL does. Gailey has shown that whoever plays better will start. If Wilson was better he'd start. But he's not better. Hence the reason he's a backup. Just because Wilson's perceived "value" is better doesn't make him the better player on an absolute scale.

If the NFL goes back to the salary cap rules whereby players are UFAs after 4 seasons (which most expect they will), then these tags are rendered meaningless.

Alternate design for new Bills uniform
Ramius replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why is Trent Edwards modeling the new unis? -
So why give Gailey flak when they ran a lot of 4-3 mid-season? Why the flak this offseason when he said he wants to continue to build for the 3-4 but will run hybrid this year? Sounds like he's following a plan. The team was garbage and largely devoid of top talent after the 2009 season. An overhaul and re-build was needed, so that was as good as a time as any to make the switch. Had the defense been top 10 in 2009, you'd have a point. But i fail to see how a rebuilding team swithcing defensive schemes is "arrogant," when the team was crap and had crap for talent to begin with. Its not as if playing 4-3 all season would have suddenly made us a playoff contender. The defense still would have been ass, and we would have still finished with about 4 wins.
-
There's not a "fair to good" chance Spiller would have been on the board later on. He was a consensus top 10 pick, and SD took Matthews at #12.
-
Why is switching to a 3-4 arrogant? We got a new staff, and they decided they didn't like the old system and wanted to run a new system. It takes a bit to get all the pieces in place. It's not as if we had a good defense before and Nix/Gailey tore that all apart. GB switched from a 4-3 to a 3-4 and was horrific on defense in 2009. Their only saving grace was a top notch offense.
-
It was his terrible vertical and broad jump that really did him in. Not to mention that the scouting reports show he doesn't continue to hustle when knocked down.
-
I hate crosby because he's a whiny punk B word who believes his **** don't stink and that anyone who touches him should be penalized.

Kid's not dead. His weekly radio show is still on the schedule in Ithaca. Which means he's failed. -

Congrats. As for the rest of us, we enjoy eating good food for lunch. Just because you can survive on it doesn't mean its a good idea. -
What would happen if there isn't a season?
Ramius replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd guess something along the lines of a weighted lottery based on the final 2010 standings. (With worse teams getting a higher chance at the #1 pick) -
I would take that trade in a heartbeat. If anything, i'd perfer to take Ponder at the top of round 3.
-
How exactly is Ponder like Grossman?
