  1. Byrd in no way "launched" himself at Glennon. Not sure what play you were watching. Making a diving tackle != launching. You launch to make a hit. You don't launch while making a form tackle.
  2. I suppose so. He can hand off in Buffalo as well as he hands off at Alabama.
  3. And thats why you can't take all stats at face value. In college, sacks count as negative rushing yards. So is YPC is not a reflection on what he did as a runner. Wrong. amazing what people will make up to fit their preconceived notions.
  4. I had to laugh at 2 ridiculous SEC homers here at work, when they told me they didn't know if Jameis Winston can handle the pressure from a "real" defense in Auburn.
  5. Jameis was a highly touted recruit. However, at the time of the alleged incident, he had yet to throw a pass or a pitch for a FSU team.
  6. Russel Wilson was a very good pocket passer in college and nothing like Manziel. He was a highly developed passer. He could move, but his scrambling was nothing like the "chicken with its head cut off" style of manziel. However, i am not surprised with your lack of ability to pick up subtle nuances (or in this case, not so subtle) in the game of football, NFL or college.
  7. Well, he's going to be the most mature NFL player ever, seeing how bad he's going to get destroyed at the next level. The schoolyard sandbox run around and try to make plays through sheer chaos isn't going to work on sundays.
  8. Its not called maturing, its called getting your ass kicked enough times you cant do anything else besides shut the hell up.
  9. Plain and simple, if you go undefeated in a big BCS/power conference (and no, the AAC is not a big conference despite their soon-to-be-gone designation), you get preference over any and all 1-loss teams. So many people complain about the sanctity of the "regular season" and how if you lose a game then you have no rights to complain, yet these same people want to put a 1-loss team in the title game over an undefeated? Complete BS. Auburn is good, one of the best teams in the nation this year, but they lost a game. Ohio St didnt. Auburn lost to a very mediocre LSU team. Plus, if OSU beats Sparty (which should be a very tough win for them), it will give them a victory over a top-10 team. If FSU and OSU win next week, they should be playing for the title. As for scheduling, Auburn has just as horrible of an OOC schedule as Ohio St, so that point is moot. you're right about one thing. The biggest issue with the BCS was their moving target on what was needed to get into the national title game. Sometimes you needed to win your conference, other times, not. Sometimes a rematch was ok, other times not.
  10. http://www.amazon.com/Scorecasting-Hidden-Influences-Behind-Sports/dp/0307591808 I believe these guys has the same general conclusion. That the biggest influence on referring is the home crowd. The percentages may vary, but it sure seems that home teams get more calls on average, than visiting teams.
  11. A DL not blossoming until his 3rd season? Nah, never heard of that before.
  12. Just for consideration: tomahawk nation has had it in for EJ almost his entire tenure here at FSU. Those guys have never liked him. While some of their critcisms are valid, they are coming from a biased, extremely negative point of view.
  13. Thats not a valid comparison. If no one goes into Home Depot on a saturday, Home Depot makes no money. If no one goes to an NFL game on a sunday, those teams still rake in $130 million (or whatever it is now) from TV contracts. Fan attendance could be zero for the entire league and teams will still operate in the black. Blackout rules are old and outdated, and just another way the NFL extorts money from fans anyway that they can.
  14. Winston is a beast. I can see great things for him at the next level, because he's a passer first and foremost, not a runner. Normally i root for oregon, but tonight Lets go Cardinal! And Geaux Tigers! (i could be a bit biased however)
  15. Found a check in the mail today for $104.88. What a nice little bonus.
  16. You need multiple GOOD WRs to be a successful team in the NFL. We currently have 1 good WR in Stevie, and 1 WR who looks like he will be another in Woods. Why not keep them both and actually improve the team? This thread shows that a lot of supposed "fans" are more interested in personal crusades than seeing their football team improve. The team is better with Stevie on it, plain and simple.
  17. EJ's injury "history" at FSU consists of the following... He missed 1.5 games his jr year (2011) after suffering an injury to his non-throwing shoulder. He stayed in the 2012 UF game after most likely suffering a concussion (this was never confirmed) He played on and engineered a second half comeback in the 2012 Bowl win vs ND on a broken leg (it was his fibula, the non-weight bearing bone in the leg) However, he did have a penchant for always trying to gain the extra yard down here. He does need to be much more judicious as to when he slides.
  18. The Buccs will be better off without Freeman AND Schiano. Much better than they would be with 1 or the other. But you're right. The real problem with that organization starts with the Glazers.
  19. Regarding Monroe, he'll want big bucks on the open market this year. I'm a bit surprised Baltimore traded for him, considering they aren't a SB threat, they're not an OT away from being a contender, and Oher is also a FA at the end of this year. I can't see them re-signing both OTs, not with their tough cap situation. Plus they've got more guys like Dennis Pitta who are also headed to FA next offseason.
  20. I find it interesting that you blame it all on Schiano, considering that Freeman's numbers actually improved from 2011 under Morris to 2012 under Schiano. Freeman had 16 TDs and 22 INTs in 2011 with Raheem Morris as coach. Are those bad numbers Schiano's fault too? Freeman simply isn't a good QB. I'm down here in florida. I've seem Freeman play countless times. The Buccs are my second favorite team. He's just not good, Schiano or no Schiano. Schiano being a militant asshat has little to do with Freeman's inability to play QB as a high level. Freeman probably will end up being a decent backup, someone who can put together stretches of good play. But he'll never be the guy to carry a team. He's had 4+ seasons and nearly 2,000 passing attempts to prove it, and he has failed. He had one good season, 3 years ago. The fans still clinging to that one glimmer of hope like thats the "real" Josh Freeman are delusional.
  21. I'm certainly not excusing Schiano. He's turned that team into a clusterf***. But blaming all of this on him is ridiculous. Freeman simply isnt a good QB. He's shown brief flashes of brilliance. But then again, so have a lot of players that never amounted to anything. And Freeman didn't look very good in 2011 under Raheem Morris either. In 59 Career starts, Freeman has 66 INTs. Damning, considering his great season in 2010 he only tossed 6. So which Freeman do you think you're getting? The 61% completion, 25 TD, 6 INT guy from 2010, or the 54% completion, 55 TD, 60 INT guy in his other 43 starts between 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013?
  22. Freeman is a pouty, whiny, inaccurate QB. Ignoring the Schiano circus, Freeman doesn't have the overall makeup to be a good QB. He had 1 single good season. Last year he was one of the main reasons the Buccs finished on a 1-5 slide to end the season. As a long time Losman supporter, it took me a long time to realize it, but Losman is not a good QB. Freeman is exactly the same. Inaccurate, poor leader, sulking personality. He's just not a good QB. He's got a ton of physical talent, but none of the intangibles. And to everyone blaming Schiano, is it Schiano's fault that Freeman had completed only 45% of his passes this season through 3 games? That's almost tebow kinda bad.
  23. Suppose the Bills had needed to waste 4 seconds on 4th down, and they have EJ scramble around and throw the ball OOB. What happens if the Bills get flagged for intentional grounding on 4th down? I know that if grounding is called on 4th, the Ravens would have gotten the ball, but since the clock is at 0, is the game over? Or would the Ravens get an untimed down?
