Would everyone who would like to see Trent Edwards
Ramius replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wasnt trying to compare the overall careers of those 2 QBs. That would be laughable. I was remarking how both of them have remarkable physical skills for a QB, and both of them had a similar career path during their tenure as the Bills' starting QB. Yet bill loves one and loathes the other. -
Great. So i guess you're not going to stop being a complete douchebag anytime soon.

Funny. i could say this exact same statement thusfar about JP Losman. Yet drew bledose has your undying love and admiration, and JP Losman is your mortal enemy. -
I can contribute some stuff on the ACC.

Not really a vacation, but going back to buffalo for a week in july, and while i am home, down to NYC for the weekend. Gonna catch a yanks game, even though i despise them. I need to get to the stadium before it closes.

Again, i dont know why this is so tough for you to understand. If the Bills already knew that Losman wasnt their guy, they would have either brought in a vet during the offseason, or drafted a QB earlier. If they liked Edwards that much, they would have drafted him in round 2, instead of hoping he falls to them at the end of round 3. If you need a new QB, you dont hope that a QB who is projected to go in round 2 falls to the end of round 3. At that point it became a relatively simple decision of Edwards being far and away the BPA. -

No problems. The point kelly was making however, was that when losman was healthy, after the bye, he still could have earned the bonus. Missing NE, NYJ, and Dal would have still allowed him to make the 80% threshold. Now, the bonus wasnt the only reason Losman stayed on the bench when he was healthy, but it was a big one. To me, i can see the coaches being on the fence (big surprise) about who to start against Balt. Edwards had played decent, but Losman was healthy and you arent supposed to lose your job to injury. But in a toss up situation, ralph is going to step in and meddle around, and in this case, the money made it an easy decision for him to demand to jauron that Edwards start. -

Umm, 11/16 = 69% and 69% < 80% -

And i'm not saying that putting him in a gunslinging offense will mean automatic success. my biggest problem was that he was jerked around and treated like crap during his tenure here in buffalo. Sure, he's got flaws in his game, including his short passes. But he's also one of the few QBs who's completion % increases when he throws the intermediate and long range passes. I know you disagree, but i happen to think Losman could do well when put in a better situation on a different team. It all comes down to this. Losman showed some serious stuff in 2006, especially during the 2nd half of the season. We all came into 2007 with high hopes for losman (well, everyone except bill and HA). He fell on his face during the first 2 games last year and got hurt. Lots of QBs, especially young ones, have 2 bad games in a row. But Losman never really got a chance to right the ship in 2007. It was as if the coaching staff forgot all about 2006. After that point, the season was shot. You cannot ask a QB to play for his job on a weekly basis. Also, evaluating any QB play based on the inept offensive game plan implemented last season is a moot point. My biggest concern is that the Bills will either start the flip-flopping QBs again. What happens if Trent shows some potential in 2008, and then after 2 bad games in 2009, the Bills switch again? thats no way to run a football team, but its been the bills modus operandi since kelly retired. Its as if the team refuses to take 1 step back so they can set them selves up to take 3 steps forward. -
it certainly would explain why my fantasy baseball team is in last !@#$ ing place

You're making up anecdotal evidence and treating it as fact. One of the biggest myths is that Losman "continually bounces short passes," and i know this is a favorite of the losman bashers. Plain and simple, Losman does not complete 62 and 63% of his passes the past 2 seasons if all he does is bounce short passes. As for the system, look at this: Losman is a gunslinger, plain and simple. Holcomb and 2007 Edwards worked the offense by using short dump off passes. The reason why people say the system was at fault was because aside form the final 9 games of 2006, Losman was never given free reign of a wide open offense. Losman got stuck in a system that benefited a QB style similar to that of noodle arm and Edwards. So thats why the system sucked. Fairtard forced losman into his "system" and didnt play to Losman's strengths. You should fit the system to the players strengths, not vice versa. -
That my friend, was a work of art. I love the last line.

Music City Miracle on right now on NFL network

Instead of watching the game again, i've resorted to letting a friend just kick me in the balls. Same feeling, just saves the 3 hrs of my life. -
If we weren't crazy we'd all go insane.

We need to fix one big thing from the past 2 seasons. Starting and finishing very weak. In 2006 and 2007 combined, the bills went 2-10 in the first 3 and last 3 games. That needs ot be fixed. We need to start quickly out of the gate and end the season on a positive note as well.

Thanks. you just saved me a ton of typing.

Agreed. I am hoping that an increase in confidence from year 1 to year 2 and just being more comfortable with the pro game will cause him to sit back a bit more and let the intermediate and deeper patterns develop. Obviously if the rush is in his face, you're going to want him to dump it off, but i'd definitely liek to see him got through his progressions and then look to dump it if all 2 or 3 initial options are covered. And i agree with the 3rd downs. I'd rather see him wait and toss a 12 yard incomplete pass on 3rd and 9 instead of dumping it off to the RB or TE in the flat who then needs to run for the first down.

It's the End of the World As We Know It
Ramius replied to /dev/null's topic in Off the Wall Archives
For the record, the mayan calendar doesn't "end" on 12/21/2012 per se. That date is the day is when this cycle of the Mayan calendar ends and a new one begins. Their calendar is circular and operates on a 5,125 year cycle. On 12/21/2012, the calendar effectively resets at 0, and the 5,000 year cycle is complete. They dont actually say the world is going to end. This age that we are in now will end and the next one will begin. Also on that day, the sun and earth are in exact alignment with the center of the galaxy, and the solar system ecliptic aligns with the galactic ecliptic. This alignment only happens every 25,000 years or so. -
I'll respond to you when you can address a criticism of edwards without the phrase, "JP Losman sucks, thats why edwards is good." But, i dont see that happening anytime soon, so continue your whine-fest. Just so the rest of us know, since the calendar turned to summer, have you now officially turned the page from "whine about DBs in every post" to "whine about Losman" in every post?

Where does it come from? Go back and check the archives. Bill was a huge Bledsoe supporter (and giant Drew apologist) and was against JP from day 1. He never even gave JP a chance to succeed, because JP got the job after Bledsoe had painfully demonstrated he didnt have what it takes anymore. Whether it was trashing him about his haircut or trashing him for giving high-fives to his teammates after a good play. That, and toss in the fact that Bill hated the trade up for JP. So obviously, its JP's fault that TD traded up for and drafted him, and another reason to hate him.

Anytime you basically tell a young QB, or make it blatantly obvious, that his career comes down to a single start, it a sure sign that your team's QB (and offensive) situation is FUBAR'ed.

Because think of the west virginians. Try telling them that their neighbor who makes 100K isnt rich when he's hauling 25 extra lotto tickets home to his triple-wide every day. -
In Buffalo, that type of project would never take place. Even if things got hammered and approved like they did in philly, there'd be some nutjobs in buffalo shutting down the project, because the depth of the river has "historical significance" and we wouldnt want to ruin that 5 feet of river bottom.

Amen and excellent post as usual, Kelly.
