So Ralph knew in 1997 (when jim retired) that he was going to sign Flutie in 1998?

Anybody buy Aud seats this past weekend?
Ramius replied to RayFinkle's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Weren't the blues padded seats? You guys are gonna have a nice mildew/mold infested piece of nastiness. -
I read that this morning as well. Does the pres really have to give up/stop using all of his own personal correspondence? Can he no longer email the members of his fantasy football league anymore, or does he just need to do it and everything else from the presidential addy? On another note, what kind of spam filter does the white house have? Does the pres still get the occasional pen1s enlargement email?

Also a general rule - FSU loses every year on its blackout game. The students know this, the faculty knows this, the local sports talent knows this. But yet we continue to have this dumbass abortion of a game, because the school insists on whoring itself out for Nike to sell some $80 black jerseys.

Don't look now, but the Tennessee Titans
Ramius replied to Orton's Arm's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The titans are very good, and the good part about them potentially going 16-0 would be that it devalues what the pats* did last season. As for their strengths, the funniest part is that their drafting history is eerily similar to the Bills' drafting history when it comes to positions taken. -
Amazing seats. Right in front of the cheerleaders. Although i personally prefer FSU's "Golden Girls" (thats the dance team that performs at the games). I haven't gone over the DR yet, but my girl was watching the game and said i was on a bunch of times. I was easy to pick out because i was the only jackass wearing white. The game itself was sh--. Shoulda, coulda won, but we handed that one to them. But no, in true FSU fashion we choke big time. Guess we can kiss the ACC championship game goodbye. One observation: Chris Crane might possibly be the worse QB to ever step foot on a football field. Too bad we couldn't get any pressure, or actually get a lead and force them to come from behind. Our weekly tactic of falling behind 10-0 or 14-0 finally backfired.

Ah, Alone in the Basement!
Ramius replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was afraid this thread was going to reference you, some vaseline, and tissues. Then again, it's about the Bills doing bad, so perhaps it does. -
must be nice to have real football on. I am stuck watching the craptastic jags play the titans.

What all bad franchises have in common
Ramius replied to BillsVet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ok, Please explain these. Jerry Jones - GM of the cowboys. He doesn't have traditional GM experience and he's an owner. At times he's given all personnel power to coaches. At times he is the only GM. But he doesn't have a "true personnel background" Marty Hurney - GM of the Panthers. He doesn't have a "true personnel background" Before becoming carolina's GM, he was their cap manager. Prior to that, he performed numerous duties on the business side of the ball in both Carolina and Washington. Hmmm, a business man becoming a GM? Nah, guaranteed failure. Minnesota Vikings - they dont have a "true" GM, and the man that occupies that Role, Rob Bezezinski, is the Vice President of Football Operations. They also have a vic president of player personnel. Hmmmm, a team that has a couple of VPs and no "true" GM? nah, it'll never work. Prior to becoming VP, Brzezinski worked in the cap side and business side of football administration. Fell free to explain why these teams do not suck, since they have no "traditional GM" either, after you get your R key fixed. -

I guess the coin came up heads this time, so that means its your turn instead of sisyphean bills to start the hourly "jauron sucks/ralph sucks/the front office sucks" thread? -
Bills would have taken Harvey over McKelvin
Ramius replied to 2003Contenders's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Obviously he's lying. Everyone knows that Dick jauron only picks DBs in round 1. -
1. Is there any reason as to why none of the pats* captains wear the "C" on the jersey? Or is it just more or belichick's arrogance/middle finger to the leage mentality? 2. How much will the pats* get when they trade cassel in the offseason? I have a bad feeling some dumbass team will fork over a #1 for Cassel, because the pats* always seem to get the better of teams in trades. Its as if GMs get hypnotized when dealing with the pats* and just start forking over draft picks for mediocre players.

New dollar coin - seems like a really good idea until you actually try to use them.

Ahh yes, stability. Stability, thy name is .500

Jeff Fisher Proves That Staying With A HC For A Long Time
Ramius replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps we could pay someone to alter the feed to dickie on draft day. We could show him a TV where the first 15-20 draft picks were all DBs, and try to convince him that there are no DBs left on the draft board when we're up, and they've all been drafted. Then make him make his pick. -

Ramius replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe if Jauron showed some progress and the team was steadily improving, you could make a case for keeping him around. But the problems affecting this team today are the same problems we've been talking about for the past 8 years. O-line, D-line, no production from the offense. At some point the excuses need to stop and the results need to improve. -
Finally, after 5 years down here, i got my student lottery tickets for the game and got front row seats in the student section. So if any of you are watching the FSU-BC game saturday night, i'll be front row right in the usual camera spot. Look for the ugly douche in the white #11 FSU jersey and the Bills hat.

Trent Edwards, or maybe Brian Moorman. Both have been subpar in recent weeks and it would send a real message to the team.

Sale of Pittsburgh Steelers by the end of the year?
Ramius replied to KRC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The question is, what sort of rookie cap do you implement? One based on position and draft slot? I am all with you that a rookie cap is badly needed. 2nd - 7th rounders make squat, as they should. Its the first round, and really only the top 10 picks that are the problem. Personally, i would like to see this type of system for 1st round draft picks. 1. A hard rookie cap for all picks. None of this playing with numbers so Joe Schmoe gets $25 mil in guaranteed money while his rookie cap figure is "only" 1 mil. Set a hard cap where say top 10 picks gets $3 mil per season, 11-20 get 2 mil, and 21-32 get $1 mil, and all rookies sign 3 year deals. Perhaps you can have certain adjustments based on position where position X can get up to 50% more per year. Take Matt Ryan. Instead of 12 mil per year, he'd get 3 mil, plus a +50% bonus for being a QB, for a total of 4.5 mil per year. 2. Limit the signing bonuses for the higher picks. Signing bonuses should not be able to exceed a certain % of the contract value. 3. Since we are limiting rookie contracts to 3 years, to help teams out, install 2 years of RFA status, similar to other sports. Make the players actually earn their pay. This also gives the team flexibility with younger players, and drafting busts doesn't kill your salary cap (drafting busts hurts your team on the field enough, it shouldn't hurt your bottom line. So a player's status would look like this: After year 1 - under contract After year 2 - under contract After year 3 - player becomes a RFA, similar rules to current RFAs. Players can be tendered at varying levels (1st, 2nd, 2 1sts, etc) by the team that has their rights. Other teams can make offers to which the current team can match. After year 4 - same as after year 3, but players that are going to be tendered for a second year in a row receive an increase of 20 or 25%. After year 5 - player can become a UFA This gives the team plenty of time to judge their players and determine how much they should be paid. It also gives the rookies a chance to make some big money starting after their 3rd year. A team is not going to risk losing a very good player as an RFA, so they'd look to re-sign them before they hit RFA status. -
WHAT? I can't hear you. It's too loud in here.

When we look back in 3-4 years, i think we'll all be pleasantly surprised to find that Stevie turns out to be better than Hardy.

Its kills me to say this, but Florida is absolutely rolling. bama is just kinda piddling along, eeeking a win here and squeezing one out there. Florida would stomp the tide if they played today.

I'll coach the DBs just so i can argue some more with Bill.

I missed Fine yesterday. He get hurt again?
Ramius replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fine is a rookie. And we all know, that under the rules of Jauron, good performing rookies/young players do NOT deserve to see the field over washed up veterans. See: Webster, Jason over Greer and Thomas, Anthony over Jackson.
