  1. Gene Simmons has always been on my "most interesting people" list, and I used to love rocking out to Detroit Rock City or God Gave Rock and Roll to You when my buddy and I would drive to high school. Paul Stanley is more talented than some give him credit for, as well. I can get into a little country now and then, as well, but Kiss music has a ton of nostalgic value for me. Good times!
  2. There's no such thing as reaching when it comes to a franchise QB. Obviously the Bills view him as such, so assuming he turns into exactly that, it's not reaching at all. The opportunity cost of not making a 2nd trade to move back again is minimal when you consider the quality of the rest of the draft.
  3. I'd like to see us start Kolb, but incorporate packages into the game plan for EJ like we did with Brad Smith, but make them a larger part of the offense. That way EJ can get his feet wet with some live action and adjust to the speed of the game in small doses, while also allowing us to have a more flexible attack.
  4. I got really excited back in 2004 when we drafted JP. I found myself rooting for the kid to succeed and I was really bummed when he didn't pan out. It's been that long since I've been this excited about the future of the QB position, and I'm finding it really hard to find a single thing about EJ that I don't like. Each criticism I've heard I've researched to see what others have said about it, and it's really resulted in my having quite a lot of optimism and confidence early on in this pick. I'm finding myself really rooting for him, just as I did with JP nine years ago. He says he's ready to get to work and I believe him.
  5. I just watched that piece tonight...was very interesting and impressive. I like how they tested his eyesight and how fast he's able to lock onto a target and get the ball released. Pretty much refuted McShay's nonsense about his "slow eyes". Whether he ends up being the pro we all hope remains to be seen, but I think the Manuel era is off to a solid and exciting start. As for the draft, QB is the one position where I have no problem with reaching if it's someone that there is conviction over. If Coach Marrone, Buddy, et al, think this kid can be a special player for us, then make him the #1 pick for all I care. If they're correct, then he'll go from being seen as a reach to being viewed as a helluva value at 16. For a dynamic, playmaking QB, there is no such thing as reaching.
  6. If you watch the Gruden piece, when they're reviewing game film Gruden praises him for calling two audibles that ended up winning the game for them.
  7. I preferred Geno or Nassib, but since we made the pick I've been reviewing some videos again on EJ and watching the Gruden piece. There really isn't much to not like here. I'm loving the Kolb signing even more, cause I think EJ will benefit from not needing to endure trial by fire. He'll see the field early and often for sure, but he won't need to take the team on his shoulders right away. Great job getting the extra picks...all in all, this draft is starting off well for us.
  8. TJ Graham would sure be happy if we drafted Glennon...he really sang his praises on the John Murphy show Tues night.
  9. I would say Justin Upton, but he probably was only on first for a second. (Braves Rule)
  10. Already one of my favorite actors, he just took it to another level....that was great!
  11. I'm really interested to see how they regroup...most of them made fun of Phillip behind his back, but the one thing he did give them was organization and a figurehead. Now that they are out from under his "direction", it'll be interesting to see how they re-align. I also think the next puzzle challenge that involves Dawn should be of a Rorschach inkblot just to see what happens.
  12. Like Hank said, Kolb just comes off completely differently when he's speaking and responding to questions than Fitz did. IMO, it's a pretty stark contrast. I liked Fitzy, but I never really felt he had that "take it by the balls" mentality. Kolb may end up being a total nancy girl on the field, but the guy just talks like a winner who is invested in this team as a leader. I think we all know that talk is cheap, but right now it's all we have to go on, really. It's just refreshing to me to have someone with a little passion and drive behind center, and especially after a season that really tried my patience from a fan's perspective, it's encouraging to me to hear Kolb's take on things so far. For those who have commented on the blitz pick up thing, that was just something Kolb pointed out during the interview. He talked about one play in particular where someone came off the edge and was picked up by Freddy or CJ (I forget which), which clearly made a huge impression on him. He didn't come out and say that his line in Arizona sucked, but to me it was clear from the things he said and the way he said them that he was very impressed with the way the offense is being installed and the abilities of those around him.
  13. I can't believe all the Phillip hate! I prefer to keep the more interesting people around as long as possible, personally. Phillip had a plan in place for them to vote out Andrea...I don't know why he changed his mind and said to just vote the way they had planned. That wasn't smart. I also can't believe how pathetic that lady was when she lost her damn teeth...a grown woman bawling like a child, threatening to leave the game if she can't get them back...wtf? I like the game Cochran is playing...would love to see him win it all. I've been watching a couple older seasons that I had never seen, and it's just so pathetic how many juries have voted for the less deserving player simply out of spite. It's a common theme with the show and it's really a shame that they can't have more respect for the game. Dissing my girl Stephanie in the final of Survivor: Guatamala was just pathetic. That being said, the challenges that season were just incredible. They have really lightened up the show since some of those past seasons. Used to be it really WAS about survival, but nowadays they have it a bit easier. Some of those Guatamala challenges had half the tribe vomiting and struggling to recover...now THAT'S how it should be!
  14. Your post reminded me of the other answer he gave that I liked...John asked him flat out what Kolb thinks about the fact that the Bills are going to use a high pick on a QB next week. He basically said that he was in the same position when he was drafted by the Eagles, so he'll be able to relate his own experience to help out the rook. You would just never guess the guy has only been here a short time. I think that's the overarching reason why I was so impressed with this interview, cause he's clearly made a strong effort to integrate himself into this team and forge out a leadership role even in only a few weeks or whatever it's been. He seems to be very sharp and ready to work.
  15. We may need to consult Holcomb's Arm and DC Tom on this one, but I think you're both wrong actually...isn't 50% a 25% increase over 40%? Just like 5 is one more than 4, but it's a 25% increase.
  16. With the Iggles being my favorite NFC team, I've been passively following Kolb since he was drafted. I was fully on board with cutting ties with Fitz, so my opinion on the Kolb signing was that it was an upgrade to the position. I just finished up listening to his interview on the John Murphy show tonight, and I have to say that there is a clear contrast between him and Fitz in terms of their personalities. Listening to KK, it was striking how much he reminded me of Jimbo. (And before some of you hosers jump all over me for saying that, chill...I'm not saying he's the second coming of Jimbo.) I was very impressed with how well he seems to already know about the players - not just who they are, but their backgrounds. He came off very positive, but also very balanced in his assessment of the three days of this OTA. Most importantly, he struck me as a natural leader, which is something I felt was lacking with Fitz both on and off the field. It was kind of funny to hear how excited he got when describing Spiller's and Fred's blitz pick-up abilities. It was almost like you could feel how stressful it was to be behind that line in Arizona, and that seeing backs that are adept at blocking was a breath of fresh air for the guy. He also spoke as if he was assuming he's the starter, and I have to say that I respect that. I want a guy who views himself that way, at least until he proves otherwise. He seems to love the approach that Coach Hackett and Coach Marrone are taking, and I was convinced that he is really glad to be here. I'm still hoping for Nassib or Wilson to end up in Buffalo by the end of next week, but Kolb has me already feeling much better about the QB spot. Whether he'll pan out or not remains to be seen, but IMO he's definitely saying all the right things.
  17. TEN in a row, baby!!!! We're not going to maintain this pace, but this team is GOOD! We can beat you in so many ways...the heroes tonight were each batting UNDER .200
  18. That's one of the differences between Kobe and MJ. When MJ first hit the NBA, he was a ball hog, too. I still remember his first couple seasons...the guy was a one man highlight reel. But as with all great players, he matured. He developed into not only the ultimate team player, but the ultimate leader. He didn't need four other great players around him in order to win a title...as cliche as it is to say about him after all these years, he put expectations on his teammates and they rose to meet those expectations. Kobe doesn't have that same effect on those around him and he never will.
  19. I know a lot of us love our pets and enjoy showing them off, so I thought I'd see if anyone has a little friend who is a bit...well...weird. I've raised dogs all my life, and along the way I've certainly had a few with a bit more personality than others. After one of my dogs of nearly 17 years passed away in February of last year, my roommate, a very good friend of mine, thought it would be fun if she got a dog and I helped her out. Well, to my surprise, she brought home a really little, 8 week old cockapoo named Teddy. Over the last 9 or 10 months, he's proved to be maybe the smartest, most personable dog I've ever had. As it turns out, one of his favorite things to do is watch tv. He'll often respond to things on tv here and there - he REALLY doesn't like it when people on tv start fighting - but we found out that he actually has a favorite show. It's called "Too Cute" and you can find it on Animal Planet. His favorite episode was the one with the Himalayan kittens, and he literally sat at the end of the bed watching the entire show, about 24 mins in all. When the commercial would come on, he'd stop watching for a few, but as soon as I fast-forwarded to the show again and waived my hand in the direction of the tv, he would take his spot and continue watching. Here is a pic I took of him during his show... What sort of odd behaviors/quirks do your pets have?
  20. Liver and onions I think undercooked bacon is over-hyped for sure. I'm all-in with crispy bacon, though. There is a local burger chain where I live that makes a BBQ bacon cheddar burger that is pretty fantastic. It's one of those foods where each component just has perfect synergy with the others, but the bacon is the most important part, IMO. That crispy, smoky salty meat combined with the sweet KC style BBQ sauce....holy crap is it good.
  21. I agree...the exception for me was Russell Wilson, though. It was clear as day after watching that show that this kid was going to be successful in the NFL. The guy is just on another level in terms of his motivation and his football smarts. It was pretty remarkable to see him discussing not only his play calling at Wisconsin, but also to go back and answer questions in detail about his offense at North Carolina.
  22. Happy BDay, man!!!!!
