Also, I think that Marv took a look at the O and said, yep, we have decent skill position guys. Let them gel together and we'll work on the D. Also, the opportunities to "fix" the OL this offseason were pretty limited to signing FAs (Hutch, Bentley). There was no LT prospect, nor was there a decent one for us to draft given our position (if we lost @Cinci in 05, we'd have had D'Brick. Thanks Mularkey). I see a big push for the OL this offseason. I'm also hoping the DL gets some attention.

So, we could take that money, sign Steinbach and draft Joe Thomas (I only wish). Plus we could pick up a top DT. Nice.

This guy could be something. He was a starting DE, worked with Kollar. The Rams got pissed at him for missing time for a personal off-the-field situation. He is 23. This may not be just a throw in type guy.

Yep. The Nate detractors are expecting Deion Sanders in his prime. Nate's not that good, nor will he ever be. But, he is a damn fine corner. The cushion is part of the scheme, Cover 2. From what I understand, it is predicated on not allowing the big play, having a swarming, speedy D to limit YAC. Now, I do think, with our corners, we could play it a bit tighter.

Mike- I think you just nervous, and I am too, that we won't be able to become a good run stuffing team without a Pat Williams/Ted Washington type. When we had great D's in 98/99 and 03/04 we had those guys. I'm willing to give this new system a chance. They won't learn it overnight. It will take some time. Hopefully, they have it down for next year.

Apparently, the only people killed, per todays NY Post, were Lidle and his flight instructor. They BOTH had access to the plane's controls. Noone knows who was flying it at the time. It appeared to be some type of mechanical error. NTSB will investigate.

I saw that. Problem is you can't pull a parachute and glide down slowly in midtown Manhattan. An open field in NJ, sure. But not in midtown.

But could he help shore up the run D for a few weeks?

First of all, there was no storm when he was flying. Visibility was approx 3-4 miles in the air. The storm started about 2 hours after he crashed. Secondly, there was a call reported from the plane before it crashed. Something about a fuel problem. Third, Lidle was a licensed pilot, he got the license in the offseason. Apparently, he was alone in the plane. Finally, some of you people have serious f--- problems. To mock someone's apparently accidental death, along with those of 3 others is reprehensible. To do so with more arbor simply because he plays for a team you don't like, is deplorable.

I would consider Whitner and Simpson as solid building blocks. Perhaps McCargo and Williams as part of a DL rotation. Give Marv another draft or two as good as this one and we may be onto something.
