How do you build moving forward
stuckincincy replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fair enough - Mayock's observations trump mine by a wide, wide margin! The CIN games were the only BAL games I've seen. They were helping Oher a good deal - IMO, to detriment of their overall offensive effort. Still - obviously - a good pick by them. I didn't know either, that JAX were starting their rookie tackles. -
They have a shot, for sure. They face one of the league's more candy schedules, on paper. Only 3 of their remaining 8 games are against clubs with a current winning record, and one of those is IND at home, who has a history of sitting all 22 starters if it doesn't matter for their playoff seeding. Their problem, if they garner future wins, is their bad conference and division record so far.

who will we pick up? Larry Johnson?

KC had a dynamite OL for several years, that opened the way for LJ. His demise mirrors KC's OL demise. I wouldn't touch him for that, as well as his contract moanings the past few years. IMO, he's no more than a self-centered, angry, piece of toast. Anybody remember Rudi Johnson? He signed for big bux, got nicked, and then lifted his leg. CIN saw that, so he got cut, and DET paid the minimum for his services - which were minimal. I'd stay far away from LJ... -
T.O. a no go = Hardy starting?

I read somewhere that TO is the league leader with wr drops - 9, with 50 tossed his way, and 23 receptions. Jeeze...23 receptions over 8 games - what a dud. Didn't he cost something like 3 times more that Fitz...? May as well get Johnson in... -
Has anyone switched to Noco for the natural gas supplier
stuckincincy replied to zevo's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Well, I did business with them, years past. We sold manufactured anti-wear and anti-oxidant additives to them - NoCo has/had a lubricant blending business. Personally, I would not deal with NoCo. Ever. -

"Right now, rookie left tackle Michael Oher looks terrible." TMQ's words... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...mp;sportCat=nfl I watched Oher in both CIN - BAL games. He's bounced between LT and RT, and BAL is giving him much additional line help - too much, IMO, and it's hurting them. -

His 220 lb. gives him the ability to stop a lineman in his tracks, toss him aside, and get that early, deadly angle for a sure tackle on any RB. He'll fit right in with the current Bills' LB philosophy... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_CAs3q7G48 -
PGH favored by 7 sounds right to me. CIN LB Rivers and G Mathis are probably out, and WR Henry went to IR with a broken arm (freak injury - went down with a tackle and broke both ulna and radius). RB Benson is questionable, but should play. PGH's TE Miller and WR Ward historically give CIN fits, and Polamalu is back in action. Ben R. stymies everybody. PGH has been fortunate this year with injuries - the loss of Polamalu for some games, and the only player of note on IR is DE Aaron Smith. For some reason, through the years, PGH has committed dumb unsportsmanlike fouls against CIN, and it cost them games. They'll have to watch that. In the 1st game this year at CIN, Tomlin (IMO) got greedy and left points on the table. I don't think he'll do so again.

Don't throw the pie, if you're not willing to do the time

Children of the '50's, '60's, 70's would be doing time, what with food fights, carrying jack knives, snowball battles and bombarding buses and cars, pogying, bringing an aspirin to school, drawing pictures of guns, locker banging and the like. Parents and adults would be incarcerated in large numbers, for leaving a kid in a car for 5 minutes, leaving a kid in the house while going next door to chat with a neighbor, holding a lost child's hand, and so on. A cultural war raged in the '60's, and the liberals won...decisively. So, now we have this: Cameras everywhere School shootings and massacres Ubiquitous anti-theft packaging Armed police escorting sports coaches Road rage Workplace shootings Drug violence ripping cities asunder Drug use by kids Children committing suicide Children raping and killing other children Explicit sex on cable tv Robbers shooting victims over 5 bucks Kids with who knows how many "parents" due to divorce rates Grandparents all over the nation raising kids The decline in vocabulary Grade inflation Honor roll status by quota States running numbers rackets Ridicule and mocking of religion Vandalized cemeteries Violence at sporting events Remedial courses needed for incoming college freshmen Rampant classroom cheating Doping of kids with ritalin and the like Beatings of school teachers Political exploitation of young people Helicopter parents A billion dollar industry in home security systems and dead bolts Huge appetite for foreign goods - then casting blame for job loss Crude language at every turn Huge credit card debt People buying houses with nothing down – banks forced to lend despite poor credit rating The decline of the newspapers Chubby youngsters with heart disease and diabetes People complaining about privacy while happily posting on YouTube, Facebook, etc RIFD devices implanted in packaging Data mining Gambling casinos outside of Nevada Telemarketing Ads everywhere Parents getting their kids fingerprinted Social agencies with police powers Overpasses requiring curved fencing Painted graffiti everywhere People rioting after a sports team victory Burglaries while people are at funerals Folks needing shredders Police officers patrolling grade and high schools Beatings on school buses. Security cameras on school buses Identity theft. Bon apetit, and feel free to add to the list! -
Dobbs was firmly convinced that every single problem in the world happened after Jan. 20, 2001. He's a hack of the 1sr rank.

Perhaps they're going to take the wraps of that terrific pass attack they hid from the competition during the pre-season.

And you read mine, it seems... So that's that. Should I go and buy those cupcakes?

Same here - see topic in the "Off The Wall" section, though.

CIN has given Johnson a fair amount of playing time. A bit more since Antwan Odom tore his Achilles tendon and went on IR a few weeks ago. He has something like 7 credited tackles, and watching the games, he gets into the backfield. IIRC, he has 3 pass batt-downs. CIN is undecided if he is best suited as a DE or a LB. Personally, I don't think he can play LB. He does show ability to shoulder a blocker aside and duck in and keep his feet and apply QB pressure. We'll see. Oher... I watched the 2 games, BAL vs. CIN. 1st game, they started him at LT, but soon moved him back to RT. He got beat early and that he was inexperienced showed. 2nd game, he was at RT. In both, BAL spent large effort to aid him, IMO, to their detriment. I could be wrong, but I had the impression that BAL r didn't run right to his side much. I recorded the game, so I guess I should take a look, and see. He's a work in progress. I know nothing about BAL's roster and OL depth; maybe they have to give him the starts. Speaking of BAL...they certainly missed Ngata against CIN. Lewis and Reed seem to have lost a step. Their def. backfield is suspect...when they bring 8 into the box, their backfield just aren't doing the job on man coverage. Once again, their wide-outs got owned by CIN's cbs - Mason had 10 tossed his way, and caught 3. IIRC, 19 yards was BAL's longest pass play. CIN's DC Zimmer is calling a fine D plan, though. How he does this after the sudden death of his wife is amazing. Flacco's getting figured out - their staff better work on that. Rice was their leading receive with 8, and they got 210 yards' TO - 35 on a garbage play at the end. Lost the TOP battle 40 to 20 - even with CIN misfiring in the 2nd half. 2 cents. -
Hmm...you posted a recent, caustic, topic about how "big time" college football is a joke. Do I now need to run to the store and buy some Hostess cupcakes for this one, to sweeten things up?

Incessant bragging, and calling me a fag. Priceless...
-
Soooo....you are calling me a faggot?
-
Since 1991, CIN had 8 losing streaks of 7 or more games, as of '08 were 101-186-1 over that period...71 of those wins were in the 2nd half of the season. Made the playoffs once in 18 years. That doesn't really suck...selling tix to PGH fans is plain common sense.
-
DEN has a waiting list for season tix, and individual tix are sold through ticketmaster, with their added charges. Why go to a game when it's sold out, and on local tv and having to deal with all the obnoxious children of any age, who get drunk, barf, fight, never sit down, scream at you that it's their "right", and unleash a game-long stream of obscenities? If I had tix, I'd sell'em in a heartbeat. IMO, football is the only sport that's better viewed on tv. JMO.

Indeed they do. They show up in large numbers for their road game in CIN (bonus for locals that choose to sell their season tickets). The big deal is their road trip to CLE. When I lived in the Pgh area, that was an event. I've many a recollection of Pgh folks telling their funny stories about trips up there.
