  1. Why cut players? Management has been busily cutting off their own nuts for some time. 7 WRs on a roster on a club with a mediocre pass attack - An OL that a professional juggler would have trouble with - LBs that would be big bad bullies in the NCAA Div. III circuit - DLs defending the flat...
  2. Yes - if you buy into the philosophy of having your OLs chop block, crackback, and injure defenders. Agree about Cutler. I saw some CHI game, where he tossed a bunch of picks. Usually, a teammate or two give the qb a pat on the helmet, saying more or less - don't let it get to you. Nobody approached him, and he went and sat on the bench with a pout on his face.
  3. Absolutely. I'm a staunch proponent of drafting a qb in the late rounds and/or inviting in UDFAs - every year.
  4. Good article - thanks!
  5. Wade Phillips took over as HC for ATL's final 3 games in 2003. IIRC, he was told that that he would not be considered for the job the following season. Rather shabby. In any event, the Bills have a mess on their hands. Seems to me that if they hire a new HC and kick Fewell back down the staircase before the end of the season, they are content with their FO and GM situation. Unless they are going to hire a coach/gm...can't say I'm a fan of that. "Round 'n round it goes, where it stops, nobody knows..."
  6. Double-reverse option pass to a tight end all alone. In the rain. UB 28 - 3, a few minutes into the 3rd. The hundred or so fans in the stands are miffed.
  7. They are chiefly attractive because with the uncertainty that swirls around the fate of the franchise, a canny big name could come in, promise the moon, and not care a whit if he got axed while strolling off with a tidy bundle. Any new ownership would likely clear the table and install staff of their choosing.
  8. Did you also see this? ..."It's easy to get down on the Bengals, who finished 4-11-1 to miss out on the playoffs for the third consecutive season. But you can't get down on Bengals coach Marvin Lewis. He was asked to compete with a team that lost a league-high 84 games by starters because of injury. Only seven of his 22 starters were available to him for all 16 games, and only five started all 16."... http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...in.34d3911.html That included 3 OL starters. It wasn't as if Fitz was handed a full deck... So...being a Fantasy Football player, you should educate yourself about such as the season unfolds.
  9. I don't make a habit of following my fellow poster's proclivities that much, except for the ones that go after other posters for some reason. That's not you, so I didn't notice your leanings. Well, seems that the new HC made his choice. I guess we'll see.
  10. If he's the Angel, I'm all for it. Can't lose!
  11. Thanks for pointing out the obvious.
  12. Possibly, but you chose to chastise him for his words. Again - who do you think he should pick to start? And why...
  13. AFAIK, a D falls under the HC's list of job responsibilities.
  14. Which is the best out of the three? Your choice is...? Jeeze - one day on the job, out of the blue, and you're already picking at him?
  15. What if he said Trend Edwards gives us our best chance to win? What if he said Gibran Hamdan gives us our best chance to win? What would you like him to say? Name your preference.
  16. What was he fired for?
  17. I can knock it. As well as any astute business will, refusing to fork over millions of dollars and contract obligations before checking things out. Shanahan got canned. Nutty owner? - perhaps. But canned he was. His name got bandied about, but AFAIK he's been cashing the buyout checks and hasn't said boo about getting a coaching gig. That reminds me - dim memory tells me that he had to keep his trap shut as a condition of that payoff. No?
  18. He did a good job with Plummer at QB. But you would also have to go into a lot of analysis regarding who they played during those seasons, where the wins and losses were, injuries, acquisitions, was weather a significant factor, and so on. All that work is not for me to do - that's up to somebody that might wish to buy his services.
  19. Yes - I do. But like I posted - buy in haste, repent at leisure. Cool heads should prevail. Plenty of time to take the long view, explore a lot of candidates.
  20. Buy in haste, repent at leisure. Shanahan was 8-8, 7-9, 9-7 in his final 3 seasons with DEN. Sound familiar? And the owner Bowen paid him off to get rid of him. IMO, Bowen was mainstream when it came to forking over the bucks for decent FAs. Shanny didn't lack there, AFAIK.
  21. A few snots decided to start a pogrom against him, and other sweethearts decided to jump in and kick at him, gang style. Abused for daring to type some optimistic words...how childish.
  22. He's a Chantix survivor. That counts for something.
  23. Gee, I didn't know he could pound the 88s!
  24. Why not? Sounds good to me. I'd add that Harrington has a good sense of humor - I'm not being sarcastic...he really does.
