  1. Pretty much middle of the pack, as far as the #'s go...the lost starters weren't "wowing" the league, so to speak, anyways. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/injuries/pup McGee has spent too much time taking up a roster spot without being able to suit up or get on the field. I'd try to peddle him during the off-season.
  2. ...really.
  3. Beware the old pro football coach, or the hoary collegiate don who takes pains to keeps his name in the news, and on the tv screen, and sniffs about, intimates here and there. That last gig can be very profitable, and if it doesn't work out, well, so it went...
  4. You never saw much Akili Smith and David Klingler. Gutsy kids - both of which should have been picked in the 4th or 5th, might have turned out, but were immediately thrown to the wolves. BTW - I wouldn't be surprised if the Bills' politburo picks a WR at #4, if that's where they end up seeded.
  5. Angle for a free lunch.
  6. "Ay, OK, everything going our way..." Anybody remember Dungy's comment when one of his OL players gratuitously ruined Sam Cowart's career?
  7. Why? Bare your soul!!
  8. I was a wizened soul when I haunted the gin mills, and now I am even better. A vital piece of advice imparted incessantly to my fellow sots: Be sure both your tail light and brake lights work as the sun goes down - if not, you are no less than meat hanging on a hook begging for a stop.
  9. Did you get a new ringtone recently?
  10. #4... Mike Williams part deux? Sorry!
  11. Ah, you are right. I misread the nfl.com numbers I called up. Sometimes you have to key on an exceptional player, and trust that you don't get bit elsewhere. Obivously, they didn't get that done last week, sadly. Fewell should take a tip from the normally-podunk B'gal, re keying on the chief danger. I do give the CIN staff credit for naming two players in their division as Public Enemy #1: BAL's Lewis and PGH's Polamalu. They go well out of their way to whack 'em through the years. Both are easy targets - since the both are so much of the action. If you don't neutralize them, you won't have a chance. The hard hits by them, and CIN players against them are memorable. Ray Lewis - there was a thread or comments about him last week here, with some implying he's a spent force. Bunk. 14 years in the league IIRC. He still brings it. Speaking of BAL - I've a feeling that S Ed Reed is winding down. Regrettable if that's so - what a remarkable player.
  12. Well - there's a bit of solace...JAX doesn't fling many passes his way. TEN's Chris Johnson catching 9 of 9 tossed to him last week was shocking. Fewell et al have something to answer for, for their failure to shadow and contain that 2-5 team's major threat, IMO.
  13. Any idea as to the nature of the injury?
  14. I'm of the opinion that he mouthed himself out of HOF consideration.
  15. Off-topic - but when I'm at a stoplight and notice a self-important pr*ck or pr*ckette behind me, yammering away on a cell phone oblivious to the traffic world around them, I remain stationary when the light changes and let them angrily honk away. Then I toodle off at the lowest possible rate of acceleration. This works best when they can't zoom around me because of traffic in the other lane. Checking the mirror, I generally get the bird. Then I give a friendly wave.
  16. Did you happen to come across LSI/Oneota Bills Fan?
  17. Yup. Back when I did the H&S and HazMat thing, I and my charges were required to have yearly med. monitoring that included the sound booth auditory evaluation. My hearing was ok - but clipped in the higher ranges - possibly/likely due to working for years in heavy manufacturing. Of course, it wanes these days - the aging process, I suppose. Of that, we are all subject... One can only speculate about the future of folks with constant I-Pod noise, and vehicles with these high wattage speakers. Audiology is probably a good field for young people to consider. As well as ASL training...
  18. Whatever warts he may have, he's a forceful HC. And that deserves consideration IMO...especially with the current state of the Bills. We'll see if Fewell (with hope) brings some of that to the table.
  19. I like the way this thread is going.
  20. That is so. But Billick's clubs were generally competitive, and I don't think there's any doubt about him being a strong personality who prepared his players well. He has a good wit about him, too, IMO. They could do worse...
  21. I suppose that's so. But Brohm was GB's #2 selection in '08, #56 overall, yet ultimately got relegated to their PS. That's not common fate for a #2, no matter how strong team might be at a position. There is a story there. I'm happy BUF signed him, though...they have little to lose. We all hope he becomes a success here.
  22. Might be - but he's well off the map now...oh well. http://www.nfl.com/players/tylerthigpen/profile?id=THI677677
