  1. Whatever happened to dwarf tossing? After 10 agonizing minutes of whining by Frodo and that other twerp at Mt. Doom, I was rooting for Gollem to get the drop on them and toss 'em both into the fire... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarf_tossing
  2. Yep - he qualifies. With advantages. The Colts' OC Tom Moore has been on the job for 12 seasons. The GM's philosophy has been in place for years. For that club, there is only one page to stay on - and it's been a successful one. They certainly change player personnel, as all clubs do.
  3. Yup. Play the 1st team - or what currently is - 2 series. The general idea of preseason being to figure how to winnow down a roster of 80 to a roster of 53, deal with the injuries, and then cross the fingers that that 53 is going to give the club the best chance of success in the regular season.
  4. Agreed. Our society seems to get colder, harder with each passing year. I am very weary, my friend.
  5. Interesting points. I have concerns about the OL not being on the same page, though. A grossly missed assignment - especially with high crowd noise inhibiting QB playcalls at the LOS - can mean a straight shot to a QB by a large person. An offense with long experience working with each other, a wizened QB is a different situation than the current Bills' offense. I understand how it can throw a wrench in a D's set and substitutions. I guess it comes down to to risk/reward guess. I also think a no-huddle diminishes the role of the QB as the "field general". His force of personality to inspire and direct the troops, so to speak, - to admonish this wr to turn around an look back for a relief-valve pass, tell a back to watch out for that LB I saw creeping up last play etc. There's an old saying: "A General is but a fighting man, who happens to have an army at his disposal."
  6. True. But a sustained, organized activity of collecting animals to fight and kill each other for yucks and profit, tying up animals to be shredded alive by others, speaks for itself. As well as the out-and-out denial to the Falcon's owner.
  7. Saved the best for last, I see...
  8. "An ounce of pull is better than a pound of push". It's axiomatic.
  9. Marvins' contract runs out after 2010. He could smoothly slip into the Bills' HC job virtually unnoticed:. 1 winning season and 1 playoff game in six years. Three 8-8 season, one 7-9 season. So any culture shock would be minimized. Possesses "deer in the headlights" game face. Has trouble telling time. Is an alchemist - is firmly convinced that he can turn turds into gold. False reputation as defensive guru persists. Fully assimilated into the Mike Brown collective in 2006 via contract extension.
  10. Frye sure looked on the rise for a while at CLE. Anderson came along at the end of the '06 season, and Frey was put in the doghouse. Anderson was hot in '07, then fell apart at the end. Then came Quinn to stir up the pot. Edwards, Winslow, those staph infections... that club has some troubles.
  11. It was what it was, three or four years ago when the dire predictions then, fizzled out.
  12. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/08/12...-cookie-policy/ It's inexorable...
  13. Yes - but against what Collinsworth essentially observed, a TEN backfield of rookies etc. running around with no idea where to be or how to get together and close on a play. Same with Omon's running - the preseason is peppered with young rbs that look really spiffy against the oppositions C and D teams, but seldom make the final cut, or if they do, are planted on the PS.
  14. Yep. He ought to work on swiveling his head and not letting his gaze telegraph the intent. I see very few Bills games - this HOF game was probably the first I ever spent more that 10 minutes watching. Does TE make a habit of staring at one downfield reciever? - I just don't know. I would have liked to have seen him react to this odd happenstance of a sole lineman being steadily driven back with space on either side, on the pick play. That should set off a signal. Shoumann (#80) was out on the left with not a soul around. A quick flick away. Or take the sack.
  15. Hmm. It's preseason. 2 drives inside the 20. Reed and Parrish might have made a grab tossed their way. But they didn't. Or maybe Jenkins from further out. Let's see how Saturday's tilt against CHI goes. QBs and WRs have to work out timing - practice reps matter and which QB gets the most of them matters. Barking and baying at the moon about any backup QB after the first PS game is nuts...
  16. I've been waiting for some poster to put up a solid cue, to unleash a segue to one of the gag songs of yore. I know little if anything about today's music - are these spoofs still being done?
  17. Tan shoes and pink shoelaces, a polka dot vest, a big panama hat with a purple hat band....
  18. It would relieve the boredom.
  19. "There's no business like show business".
  20. Camp starting roster charts - even dumber that regular season roster charts. If that's possible.
  21. Same here. It was a spiffy, gutsy play that gave the HOF crowd a thrill, a bit of showmanship befitting the occasion. It was close, could have blown up in Fisher's face. Then we wouldn't be chirping about a dissing, but what a bonehead move it was and dissing that idiot that gave the Bills great field position...
  22. Thanks for the admission re your consultation of the balls. Stop stepping in it!
  23. I saw 4 players lined up left to right 3 yards behind the (so-called) DL - often. AKC was right.
