Or he gets an elbow thrust in anger, in his face. We will see.

I'm all for ISPs charging high users, higher rates. And low users, lower rates.

Not bad. Considering that today's basic family unit consists of a woman and whatever number of whelp the courts awarded custody to her. BTW, if you are in line and you see someone whip out those W.I.C. cards - they look like the old Hollerith data punch cards - back out and find another register. It take a lot of time to ring those things up (no, Snickers and pork rinds don't qualify, Ma'am - and it takes a minute or so for the WIC'er to stop swearing and stop threatening the clerk. Then they ask if orange juice qualifies. So they leave you stranded, while they storm off in a snit to go get that goddam OJ and come back after several minutes and slam it hard on the on the belt). WICCANS - avoid them.

Well, I do remember the round-bellied oil lamps that were used when there was unfinished sidewalk or road repair, to warn people when it got dark. They were of good design - the wick was thick with a ceramic ribbon thin core for integrity, and there was a nicely engineered cap that was good at resisting extinguishing by precipitation. Typically, that cap had 3 openings around the cap cylinder - equidistant, with the metal from making the port cuts not discarded, but bent upwards and cleverly curved and flanged to resist water ingress. If we could post images, you would look at the cap and readily agree that they got it right. The perfect design for the task. I poked them now and again and they didn't seem to slosh much - my guess is they used one of the bunker oil grades. Can you imagine what would happen to those these days, if such were put out and lit?

If this man was a nearby neighbor, me and others would put in an inside circuit with switch, and buried conduit leading to a floodlight so he could illuminate that flag all night long, if he chose to.

And their cut. You didn't mention that specifically, but it was implicit in your post.

Smith, Maybin, Crabtree. The teams that drafted them aren't being bandied about as prime playoff clubs. The state of the economy is obvious. Maybe these club-owing nabobs will finally say, "bite me!" and go with what they got. It's about time..."Sorry, we've made other plans. We have proven veterans to take care of. Please stop calling us."

Could be. B'gal's fans around town (yes - they do exist), rolled their eyes when the tub of goo was picked by Mikie. Unless proven otherwise, I see him as getting that one fat contract and then pfft after the ink dries. I hope he signs 'em and then eats the money... I liked Akili Smith, as a decent man. Brown demanded drafting him, even though the staff and the HC was appalled (Brown insisted on turning down Ditka's offer of their full draft to grab Ricky Williams). Akili was no NFL QB for sure. But he was a terrific competitor who came to play. The guy was tough as nails, and did his best. No flies on him. I was happy when Brown cut him and then had to peel off 4 million in cash money to fork over to Smith.

Who do you defend? Quandry....who is at fault?
stuckincincy replied to HelloNewman's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Yep. I will let your kid bolt out into traffic and watch him get killed, these days. If I tried to restrain and save your kid from death, I'm sure I would be charged as a sexual predator and my life will be ruined. Or if you were close by, you would attack me, as you say. Can't have it both ways... I understand the man's reaction. But the other fellow was no longer a threat. Grab him and move him further away. Put a bear hug on him. But giving him a forceful hard shot from the shoulder ??? -

The hyped no-huddle. Some say it's not a hurry-up. Bunk. Why do it in the first place, then? Why deprive yourself the opportunity to be sure that the 11 offensive players are on the same page before the snap? Especially with a jumbled OL peppered with rookies. The idea of a no-huddle is to get the opposing D from changing personnel and making them line up quick and out of position. Chop-Chop, as the old expression was. sure - you can stop substitutions by setting the line early. If yo think the opposition isn't watching whatever package you bring in.And won't rust in a counter. Sit there and let the clock run down - the D has their package in place also. and the WR or whatever you threw in, in haste, better know the exact snap count and his pass pattern and block duties. Nice if you pull it off without procedure, false start, off-sides penalties etc. Not nice if you trot to the sidelines after 3 quick 'n outs and watch the D drag their knuckles having to go back in... Young line. Set, quick snap, get 3 yards twice, and leave yourself in a decent 3rd down situation.

See also #6 Andre Smith. Despite his documented weirdness, several agent switches etc., owner Brown picked him. Sent his OL coach Paul Alexander to go visit him a day or two before the draft, to see if he was sincere about signing, and didn't balloon up. Smith lied. Brown loves to think he spots a bargain among players that other teams retch at. This guy might indeed be one that's tossed back into the barrel. He wants QB money.

...a wino?

And you're right - don't correct them.

Evidently, Travis Henry was exceptional at that.

Retired Players and the Uncapped Year

I noted that the first quote in your link mentioned a Bruce Laird. Might that person be the long-time Colt DB? -

B'gals kicker Shayne Graham, along with former players Anthony Munoz and Jim Breech, are trying to do something to help out: http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...SPT02/307140077 IIRC, Mike Ditka got some ink a year or so ago, with what turned out to be nothing. Dunno... -
Important national news and international news to report on, but CBS finds time to insert a puff piece? Sad...
