  1. ST. I noticed some indecision, so to speak, about the new 2-man wedge. rule. I seem to recall players looking about - who are the wedge guys? Me? You? The end of the half - that irked me - the indecision by the bench. I don't like this constant no huddle. Young, jumbled line. I want them all to be on the same page...in the huddle. Is this new Center spiffy at line calls? I wouldn't like to see a 300 pounder blast through and kill the QB because of confusion. Then what? I would not risk that. And I'd be sending in CB/S blitzes against TE if they run this gimmick during the season.
  2. Fair enough. May I mow your lawn?
  3. So did I. A 1 and 1/2 day seminar (cost: $499 per person), then you get credentials as an "Installer" from them. Hmmm... http://www.granicrete.com/GetTrained/tabid/146/Default.aspx Amway...?
  4. I know nothing about the other two, but I am surprised that PSU's Ethan Kilmer walked out. Long story short, he was a 7th round find in '06 for CIN - very high hopes for him until a leg injury cut him down. "Cry baby" isn't in his vocabulary, IMO. I wonder what happened?
  5. "Never give up. Never surrender." - Capt. Jason Nesmith (Tim Allen) in Galaxy Quest! Got it? Please post again when the miasma passes...
  6. I'll reiterate things I posted about Fitz, having watched him last season. - The 1st 3 or 4 games, he was abused by the opposition. It was ugly. - He started to make quick decisions. When he didn't see much, he ran, and ran smartly. - I didn't see much in the way of basic passing flaws. - Houshmanzedeh certainly helped him. - He clearly became the director of the offense, such as it was (3 OLs out, receiver injuries, mediocre run game). 6 of his 8 td passes were inside the 20, and only 1 of his 9 ints - so he was decent in getting the ball past the goal line when in the red zone. I also noted that there was the fact that as the season wore on, the opposition didn't really have a handle on him - analogous to the pitcher brought up from the minors. He was signed by BUF shortly after he his the market. CIN would have re-signed him, but they have so much money tied up in Palmer, it wasn't going to happen. So the jury is still out. BUF paid a nice sum. If they were right or wrong in their evaluation, I guess we will see.
  7. According to the n'paper today, the B'gals haven't called Smith's agent since last week Monday. Brown having to fork out #6 money...hilarious. Here's a You Tube ditty. NSFW - rude music lyrics. Makes one feel better about Ralph&Co.... P.S. Mike Brown pays himself a $1,000,000 salary to act as GM. He also pays himself for being President. And of course pockets team profits.
  8. Is there - any- announcer that ever passes muster here? Any?
  9. You conveniently omitted my comments about Dungy/Vick when you quoted my post...
  10. The dark side of the no-huddle. Especially so with un-experienced players compounded by an OL position jumble. The no-huddle exchanges tuckering out a DL and inhibiting substitutions with offensive players not being on the same page - IMO. Nice to use from time to time. Beware the three-and-outs. A steady diet of it seems gimmicky to me, a crutch, unless you have a very, very experienced bunch that have played together for a long time. Edwards isn't a Kelly or an Esiason yet. If Snert continues the chronic usage, it gets figured out - like this wildcat thing was as the season wore on. It's a matter of time until TE gets flattened on his back hard into the turf by a 300 pounder flying by an OL that is out of concert. And it begs for a cornerback blitz.
  11. Well, the 1st preseason game...doesn't matter much. Nor do much others after that, except to fans in a particular city. And it was all about the HOF hoopla. A national audience doesn't give a rat's patoot about the Bills' 4th safety spot or the Titan's 3rd possible rb. Would you have even watched this game if it was the Rams vs. B'gals, and if so, then complained about the lack of play-by-play in the 2nd half?
  12. Omon - 2nd, 3rd, 4th quarter rb's looking good in preseason is pretty common.
  13. The HOF game is a bit of a festival, a venue to talk about the past, and speculate. The only announcers that talk at length about this or that camp players are the local folks - I didn't expect Michaels and Collinsworth to spend much time on them other then generalities. Why would they? And they certainly didn't turn it into a TO/Madden fest. ESPN would have likely whipped out a Bruschi performance. The halftime Madden retrospective was fine with me. They did talk about the stadium IIRC. I agree, the chatting with Dungy was lengthy, and I thought - fawning.

  15. Perfect storm for holdout By Joe Reedy Cincinnati Enquirer August 9, 2009 ..."Instead of Heyward-Bey's signing triggering a flurry of other signings, it created the opposite effect. By giving a 22 percent increase over last year's No. 7 contract, the Raiders blew the salary structure out of the water, creating gridlock from picks 8-11 - with no appearance it will end any time soon. "They heavily paid for Heyward-Bey. One team does it and the other picks want to get the same thing (in terms of an increase), which creates a lot of anguish," said Michael Lombardi, a former NFL executive who runs the National Football Post."... http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2009080...orm+for+holdout
  16. My head's already hurting. Do you want some more wine? I know I do.
  17. After missing last season, Tim Anderson came off Dallas' PUP yesterday...
  18. It sure is. There must be ten scenes at least, that were belly laughers, intertwined with the tender, introspective scenes. Looking back, I remember his films being nicely paced with scenes well framed and properly lit for the mood. That's good direction...
  19. RIP. He made a lot of nice movies that lots of people remember fondly. I looked up his works - so many of them...Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Sixteen Candles, Home Alone, Pretty in Pink, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Uncle Buck have worn well through the years. He was walking on the street somewhere in Manhattan and suffered a heart attack, if that wasn't mentioned somewhere else in this thread.
  20. I'm on board with folks that eat 2, 3, 10 times more than I do paying a bigger bill for their food. What do you do for a living? Can I get ten times of whatever product, service or material goods for the same price as the fellow that pays for one, from you, or your business or your employer? No? Why not?
  21. I read your Lowe's link and wasn't able to find a link to the product manufacturer. Follow the directions on the pail explicitly. Pay particular attention to the dry time and recoat time, being mindful of the variable effects of ambient temp and humidity. These aren't sophisticated coatings, so I think you want to get a decent amount of dry time between coats. If coat #1 doesn't set up, you can end up with the vehicle (solvent) being distributed between both applications, which for technical reasons, is a bad thing to have happen. But do what the can says. And yes - coat #1 will do some sealing, so coat #2 will be less. Take your brush and work that coat#1 hard into the asphalt. You want to seal its' nooks and crannies. That second coat smooths it off a bit and helps the rain flow off.
