  1. Switch to CBSSports.com's Game Center thingee. It's better - like nfl.com's was ,before the change.
  2. It might speak to the quality, preparation, determination, and play-calling abilities of the coaching staff. And the front office, as well.
  3. T-W here in SW Ohio added Versus last week as they jumbled up their digital tier offerings (puts things into higher channels, in "blocks" like kid's, sports, etc It's inconvenient, and sticks the knife into the basic/standard subscribers). They added it for college basketball/football - not much hockey interest here.
  4. Shades of Mike Brown... Bengals lose ticket case By Kimball Perry, Cincinnati Enquirer July 24, 2009 "Alex Young rooted for the Bengals for decades, so he knew they could be beaten. He – and 128 other fans – proved that this week. Those fans filed a lawsuit in 2004 against the team, claiming it was forcing them to buy tickets they didn’t want. The suit was settled this week and they will receive almost a quarter of a million dollars from the Bengals. Young, of Columbia Tusculum, will get $1,250 from the team as part of the settlement. “We got the most that we could squeeze out of those bandits,” said Young, a Bengals season-ticket holder for 35 years."... http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2009072...se+ticket+case+
  5. Thanks, Mark! I'll probably see Coco before Chanel. There's been a steady stream of French flicks the past few years - my guess is that the successes of Amelie and Chocolat spurred it.
  6. I'm surprised they didn't trade out of the #6 spot this past draft - perhaps they tried, but no takers. That owner must have gagged on the prospect of paying top - 10 money.
  7. U of CIN isn't terribly pleased about traveling to Rutgers to open up their season... http://news.cincinnati.com/article/2009090...er+needs+review EDIT: Every cloud has a silver lining. Nice no-huddle spread offense by HC Kelly. Rutgers was lost.
  8. The morning radio here reported that he gets his weekly salary cut in half anytime he tops 350 lb. I've no idea if that's true.
  9. An old-time sports reporter on one of the local channels last evening could barely keep a straight face when he reported it. Another one of Owner/President/GM Mike Brown's "bargains" bites the dust...
  10. Or perhaps an inability to scroll down?
  11. I like that - you must be a man who has read, who appreciates the meaning of a phrase beyond the literal words.
  12. Forgot about that...
  13. Son of stuckincincy.
  14. Contract $$$ comes into play...
  15. I don't suppose you'd like this site, then... NSFW! http://www.rsdb.org/
  16. Can you and me continue to do so? I'd really hate to break off several years of tradition.
  17. On principle. Please explain what you mean by a "legitimate" personal stake. "I could be wrong of course, I just figure that most corporate executives don't spend so much time bullschitting on message boards. " How assumptive, mean-spirited, smarmy and belittling. You must be a liberal. I'll make an assumption, that you are well-described by this fellow, as one of his inferior men: Confucius 551 – 479 B.C. The superior man understands what is right; the inferior man understands what will sell. The superior man loves his soul; the inferior man loves his property. The superior man always remembers how he was punished for his mistakes; the inferior man always remembers what presents he got. The superior man is liberal towards others' opinion, but does not completely agree with them. The inferior man completely agrees with others’ opinions, but is not liberal towards them. The superior man is firm, but does not fight; he mixes easily with others, but does not form cliques. The superior man blames himself; the inferior man blames others. The superior man is always candid and at ease with himself or others; the inferior man is always worried about something. I suspect your knowledge of words of the past, of history (very little is new, verty little hasn't been said before) is poor. Your tin god will soon enslave you.
  18. Maybe they'll whip out one of the current NFL darling plays, fades and fade stops. They are just waiting to unleash 'em against the regular season foes, they have that timing in their pocket sans practice against live opponents, and wisely refused to tip off the competition in the preseason.
  19. AFAIK, You are right. My interpretation is that keeps them away from being plucked away (although the PS pluckee has to put the plucked on the active roster). My assumption is that a team's medical ins. pays for the injured player's medical needs, and the team pays what their contract specified. CIN had 2005 #1 David Pollack on the IR roster for 2 years until he officially retired in April 2008. There are many valid criticisms of CIN owner Brown, but he never fails to take good care of his injured players.
  20. You're right. I often wax poetic about a steaming pile of dog sh*t deposited on my lawn.
  21. Neither you - nor I - should be dishing out statements about arrogance.
  22. A Day at the Races. That's where they got the ideas for their no-huddle... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5T8XauYhlU
