  1. When the media were acting like the Pats were all set for a playoff run with Mac Jones, based on a couple of preseason games, all I could do was laugh. The Patriots are a hot mess right now. There will be no wild cards in the AFC East.
  2. The TV networks can add snow, rain and wind like how Zoom can make you look like your on a tropical island. Problem solved.
  3. Or...have pedals at every seat and fans have to generate the electricity for each game!
  4. Sounds like my experience at Sunday Night Football, November 18, 2007. Relentless freezing rain really was big advantage against the Patriots. We only lost by 46 points.
  5. So you are against Buffalo having a nice stadium where fans can be comfortable. You want fans getting pneumonia because you believe it gives us an some kind of advantage?
  6. You have to remember the Linguist staff has barely had a 100 days to prepare and Lance took most of our good linemen with him to Kansas. (Good luck to them. Enjoy going 1-11.) I'm not panicking over coaching yet. Lance had at least two big meltdowns (Kent State 4Q and MAC Championship 2nd half vs Ball State.) Linguist's strength is recruiting so give him a couple of seasons to build his team. But I would like to see Myers more. Riggins had an injury. They said he'll play this Saturday. Meanwhile...
  7. Students are nice but having lots of fans in the stands is better. When UB played Bowling Green at RWS on a Thanksgiving Friday they drew 26K, the second largest home crowd the Bulls ever had. (Playing Syracuse at UB Stadium in 2009 drew 29K.) You'd think local fans would like going to UB Stadium. Parking is free. The school, pre-pandemic, put on big tailgate concerts. Tickets are under $30, and just $10 if you buy during their preseason flash sale. And they have been decent the last few years.
  8. Actually they are bad. Very bad. And Boston sports radio sounds this morning like they are waking up to that fact. They are predicting an epic beatdown vs. "Tompa Bay" next Sunday.
  9. I hope they call him out Monday for his Heinicke-is-better-than-Josh take.
  10. Smart move. Now LEAVE Lance in the game!
  11. The wind made doing that risky. The ball was dying and dropping all day.
  12. The way it bounced away is freakish. Dolphins losing was the chef's kiss.
  13. How far have the Bills come? We are at our own 25 with 33 seconds and it's like "Yeah, we can get some points."
  14. Agree. They have several games against ODU-level competition. I was counting those as wins but now can't be sure.
  15. Overall an undisciplined performance. Lance had at least two of this kind of game so I'm not panicking. But Mo better be fixing this.
  16. Wow. 35-7 at the half for UB. Then gave up 4 unanswered touchdowns, only to win when a 15yd PF call on ODU caused their kicker to miss the XP w/19sec to play. 35-34!
  17. Slow start, and oy vay the punt team. But they are rolling now.
  18. AD Mark Alnutt says a new track/soccer stadium is part of the plan. Probably enhancing Kuntz Field.
  19. I agree. But they really want their students involved. Personally I want the most fans at games. In WNY football is played in Highmark Stadium. If UB was there, especially on weekends when the Bills were on the road, people would come out just for an excuse to tailgate. And it's been pretty good ball the last few years.
  20. If you were paying attention to the post I was replying to, that person acted like 10K for a fireworks display brought the world to a standstill. My point is 20K is no big deal. I wonder if people's expectation of what traffic is isn't a little skewed in WNY. Waiting 10-15 minutes leaving a sporting events qualifies as intolerable. Just to be clear, who's making the mistake?
  21. I doubt that was the main reason. Probably access to land was the big one.
  22. There are several factors that go into UB attendance. Quality of opponent and time of game are big. (Remember the MAC plays a couple Tuesday/Wednesday games that draw crowds in the dozens!) But a typical Saturday game gets between 15-20K. Basketball averages around 4-5K. The article also describes a plan to improve the current UB Stadium by removing the running track, digging down 10 feet and adding closer seating. But it's still a terrible stadium. But if NYS is going to spend money on that AND a new Bills stadium, why not at least look at building one shared facility? Why not tear down the current UB Stadium and build a new one on the same spot? UB could play at Highmark for a few years during construction. UB didn't even get brought up as a contender to move up to the AAC, which is kind of a slap in the face considering it's the flagship public athletic program in New York State. A new stadium might make them more attractive.
  23. UB could and should play at least one game in the a Bills stadium each year. Thanksgiving Friday would be a nice tradition. Last time they did they they got their second largest crowd ever, 26K.
