Roscoe Parrish moves closer to a trade...
Webster Guy replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with that unless there is a team that's deep at a position like LB and has someone that can contribute to our squad. We are just so thin at LB and Poz is injury prone. It really showed yesterday with those long runs by Jones. -
Agreed. The frustrating part is that if the Bills knew they were gonna cut Langston Walker, then Peters cap number is a lot easier to swallow. Front office and head coach not on the same page. Again.

I was gonna post but you summed everything up perfectly for me. Thanks for saving me the time.

Byrd To Get His First Start On Sunday
Webster Guy replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree completely. I was kind of surprised when I clicked on this thread and Byrd was getting compared to the lame Ko Simpson. For a rookie I thought he did very well. What are people expecations for a kid to jump from being a college DB to NFL free safety, the quarterback of the DB's? I think some of his 16 solo tackles thus far were impressive and so was his pick. All things considered I thought he and Kyle Williams/Stroud were the bright spots on the defense. Funny how two people can watch the same game and come away with completely different takes. -
Its simple but it's working for me this year: Pick a second team that's fun to watch, get the NFL ticket and follow them all year. My son likes the Vikings, so I gave in this year and got a jersey. We bought the Vikings NFL yearbook for 2009 (Favre wasn't even on the team at that point). I even get to root for Big Pat and Antoine Winfield again. In todays world, it's easier to follow an out of town team than it was to follow your LOCAL team 15 years ago. Websites, the NFL ticket, streaming radio stations from everywhere in the nation, TIVO. It used to be that you had no choice because the only coverage you could get was from your local radio and newspaper. That has completely changed. I prefer a big HD screen and having friends/family over than risking the cash and an entire day to drive from Rochester and see a game. If you have kids, they mostly end up watching the good plays on the jumbotron anyways because everyone stands when the Bills have a big play (IF they have a big play) and the shorter people can't see anything anyway. Admittedly, I'm lucky because if the Vikings were lousy this year I would be stuck with 2 bad teams, but hedging your bet isn't a bad idea. Being an exclusive die hard Bills fan is is like holding on to a bad stock that keeps dropping every year because you've always owned it and you don't know any different. Take advantage of your options and diversify a little. The game is too much fun to pin all of your hopes on the Bills program.

The Bills have a decent chance of getting a proven coach
Webster Guy replied to Doc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All the coaches available have had losing seasons as well. The best coach in the league will still struggle with the talent issues we have in Buffalo right now, but what we need is a personality. Someone with character and enthusiasm and vision. A likeable head coach can go a long way with the fans. Its easy to point the finger at DJ, but what bothers me more than failing at the x's and o's is his utter lack of enthusiasm and ability to motivate our team. The NFL is a young mans game, and we need a coach that relates better. I would assign Bobby April as interim head coach for the remainder of the year and see how he does. At least use the rest of the season for something positive and evaluate a guy that may have what it takes to be a good head coach. He seems intelligent and spirited and he's proven that he can communicate and coach. He knows the team already. I see very little downside to that approach, unless there is a head coach candidate who wants to take the wheel at this point in the season. Man, I certainly wouldn't. -
Since Maybin is being swallowed up by NFL tackles
Webster Guy replied to HelloNewman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree on both points. Its too bad that Denney was there so fast because Maybin really did set up the spin move nicely and would've had an impressive first sack. You may see him improve a little each week because he missed the entire camp -
B. Edwards traded from cleveland to the Jets
Webster Guy replied to IHFO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with Thurman. Judging the trade now is like grading a draft on the day after it happened before anyone takes a snap. Its pure speculation and nothing more. Edwards is a fun receiver to watch because he has some amazing catches, but as far as productivity and consistency go, that remains to be seen. I have a hunch that Sanchez is going to continue to lose his effectiveness as teams get more film on him and start seeing defensive gameplans that work against him (like Gregg's last week). -

I found this quote from Russ Brandon amazingly stupid
Webster Guy replied to todd's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't forget that Chambers is playing like hell because they he no real reps this summer. You can't just step in after not getting quality reps all summer and be expected to do well- epecially in the beginning of the season. (someone tell Maybin's agent that) Last year when Chambers played in the opener at LT for Peters he had the entire camp to prepare and he had a great game. Which gets back to the major point in this thread, management can't waffle through the entire camp like it's a tryout, they need to make personnel decisions earlier in camp, treat it more like its game preparation and bond these starters better. I'm not saying Chambers is the answer, but why have no other teams picked up Langston Walker even if he's grading average at RT? On another note, I would love to see how our defense would do if we had a top ten offense keeping our D rested, healthier and playing with a lead the majority of the time. -

I Think Lynch Breaks Through This Year
Webster Guy replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was saying the rushing is going to a new level and i agree. Marshawn pounds guys harder, wears down the D, especially the linebackers. Maybe the rushing total doesn't rise significantly, but its more difficult to key on a runner's timing and style when they keep changing and coming in fresher with different attacks. This takes nothing away from Freddie and what he has done, but I think Miami is going to wish Roger gave Lynch 4 games instead of 3. By the way, I find it funny that the AFC playoff beasts last year, Tenn, Pitt and Miami are now a combined 1-9. Love it. Go Bills. And somebody move Maybin to OLB where we need the dude. -
Levy Found Great Character in Whitner...
Webster Guy replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Moving Whit to FS worked really well. We lost 8 out of the last 10 games after San Diego and couldn't stop anyone. You're wrong about Scott, he'll stay at SS because he's better than Whit. We'll see. You're the genius. -

Webster Guy replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tell me who he beat out for FS? And don't say Ko Simpson. Byrd was so far behind in getting to camp he had no chance. If you think the Whit can cover you arent watching the same games I am. In fact, they moved him to FS for that reason. Tight ends were smoking the guy. -

Levy Found Great Character in Whitner...
Webster Guy replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First of all Whitner's pick was an overthrow caused by Kyle Williams QB pressure. It wasnt like he jumped a route or did something extraordinary. I just watched the play again on TIVO and the ball was thrown right to him. I like the guy, but let's see the play for what it was. Secondly, he was drafted to play strong safety and he got beat out by Scott, who was signed to back up Whitner. He can't play corner so there's only place left for the guy to play, and that's free safety. I personally think Byrd is going to be our starting FS next year, as he has better closing speed and he showed a real knack for INT's during a solid college career. Whitner is valuable to the team as an average NFL utility safety, but he's kind of a tweener in terms of size and speed. I don't think he's that good in coverage, but I would rate him as slightly above average as a tackler. In my opinion this guy would have been sitting there in the second round for us to get. If he demands a lot of money in his contract year and it doesn't fit our cap strategy for that year I would let him walk and i personally don't think we'd miss a beat. I'm going as Whitner on Halloween this year. My girlfriend is going as an NFL tight end and I'm gonna chaser her around all night (and not catch her), my other buddy is going as a cop with a taser (it's a fake one thank god), and my brother is gonna drape himself with 400k worth of fake jewelry and be one of Whit's high character hangout buddies. -
4th and 1 at the 2, up by 10......
Webster Guy replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My family and I were all split on the decision. I felt taking the three was the right thing for two reasons: 1. Lindell was crushing the kickoffs, almost out of the endzone. (whats up with that? musta been the cool mountain air) And our kick coverage was solid, plus they don't have a Devin Hester type returner anyway so I wasn't worried about the kickoff return vs. giving them the ball on their own 2 yard line. 2. Our defense was playing soft in the 4th quarter up to that point and if you don't kick the field goal, Tampa only needs a FG and a touchdown and it puts you in a situation where an onsides kick could break you if they score a TD on the first drive. 3. Going for it would've been a more in-your-face type of statement, but after last week's loss, I liked that they played it safe. It was a fun game to watch for everyone, you've got the win in your hands, keep it there. 4. Old Ralph was sitting there about to doze off and/or shat himself and he wanted to see one more kick before his bobblehead lookin' turkey neck gave out and he went to sleep for good. -
How can we make things right to Leodis?
Webster Guy replied to drinkTHEkoolaid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He led the NFL in kickoff returns average last year, and he's a young corner who has only played 17 pro games. Lets all resent him because he got drafted in the first round and he makes a lot of money. Maybe we should trade him because he fumbled. This thread was about what to do to support the guy because some people went to his house and vandalized his property. If your son witnessed five fights in the stands then stop taking him to the games or sit in the family section. Doesn't mean you have to stop supporting your team and its players. This message board has far too many negative complaining whiners for my taste. It doesn't make you a real fan boys. -

just saying he's not full of himself, and he was impressive off the field. that's worth something. if it happened to Hargrove I'd be helping buy the spray paint.... -
How can we make things right to Leodis?
Webster Guy replied to drinkTHEkoolaid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I got to meet Leodis at camp this summer and the guy was probably the most patient with the fans of all the Bills. He even stopped on the way to the Dorms from the field where most all the other players would just put on their IPODS and baseball hats and cruise by. He was polite and humble and he got swarmed but he hung in there and made my kids day because it was packed down by the field and hard for little kids to get anywhere close to the starters for autographs. If his coach isn't astute enough to tell him to take a knee, he damn-well better not take one unless the kick dictates that he does, which this kick did not. So he covered the ball up as best he could and gave it his all. Just like he is trained to do. When the cops find out who trashed his lawn (and they will), I say make an example of the punks. Leodis is smart enough to know that Bills fans are behind him and this was just a drunk loser or two reacting after a night game. (BTW I told you guys to take the Bills and the points) -
Belichick Without Brady is Nothing
Webster Guy replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah Barry Switzer has a ring too. -
Im so sick of hearing what a genius Belichick is. Belichick was 36-44 with the Browns; the Patriots were 5-11 in 2000, Belichick's first year, sans Brady. And they lost their first game in 2001 (sans Brady). That's a total record of 41-56 with one playoff appearance and no victories.... Wow that guy is brilliant. Funny what a hall of fame quarterback can do for a guy's intelligence. Especially one with zero charisma or people skills. Its also ironic that our coach went 13-3 that year in 2001 and won AP NFL coach of the year in Chicago. Where was Bill's brilliance in the super bowl against the Giants who BARELY even made the playoffs that year in the weak NFC. He got outcoached and they lost. Im not saying Jauron is a better coach, but everyone needs to take a breath and stop genuflecting to grumpy Bill. He couldn't even make the playoffs without Brady last year either. Lets switch Trent and our O Line for Brady and his O line and see how we end up after 16 games. Take the Bills and the points on Monday. The spread is gonna move even more to NE and i think its gonna run to almost 2 touchdowns by kickoff time. Go Bills!!!
