  2. I always love games where the team you are rooting for has never had the lead for the entire game until the final score. Syracuse's first lead of the game: 58-57 Final score: 58-57 Go Orange! (men)
  3. What makes a strong union is one that has the discipline among members to strategically defend members' interests. I always thought that when it came to players, their discipline wasn't that high. So many players are making so much money in such a small window of time, that for players to actually sit out the year in a strike (or lockout) would be doubtful. They eventually crack when the paychecks stop coming in. And, it's tough for the players to gain a lot of sympathy from the general public when there's any threat of work stoppage. People don't see a detrimental injustice and usually side with the owners. We're not talking about a police union here, right or wrong it's a millionaire's union. On a side note, the NFLPA would gain some perception points, thus gaining power, by limiting rookie salaries. 50 million dollars to QB Alex Smith? Really? How about giving him ten million and spreading the other 40 million out to proven players. Wouldn't the union approve of this as its members are NFL players and not current college sophomores? So how would Galisano make the NFLPA more powerful? He wouldn't, in my opinion. He would be first in line to try to break them (maybe that's too strong, but he would definitely try to curb them). He's a very determined, sometimes arrogant man who would be willing to stand up to the NFLPA if they tried to runaway with more power. Yes, he might spend more "cash over cap" money, making the money supply bigger (is this one of your points?) but he would fight any unreasonable "power play" the union might throw at the owners. And if necessary, he would take a zero off the end of the players paychex.

  5. Haha... I typed in "Ralph Wilson" and this popped up: Ralph Wilson Keeps Going and Going
  6. I never got around to listening to the Sex Pistols. Someone asked me how many albums they had. I guessed 15... nope, the answer was "just one". Is this true? The Sex Pistols only made ONE album? It must have been fantastic.
  7. Quincy M.E. lived on a boat. To get away from Dr. Ashton and Lt. Monihan, I bet. But hey, he was close to Danny's restaurant.

  9. Someone named Dr. Funk put together this video highlight package of Huff. Takes a while to download (10 minutes on Roadrunner) but fun to watch- lots of plays. http://www.archive.org/download/SteveMicha...hlight_Film.wmv EDIT: only works if you right click this link and download to your computer.
  10. OK, I'll admit I'm not smart enough on how to make money on if Moulds makes the team, other than: "Hey, I'll bet you 5 bucks Moulds is signed this week. Yeah, send the check in the mail when I'm right." How would YOU do it?
  11. Jesus.... are there any documented heart attacks from these things?
  12. If that happened, that would be great, but from what I have been reading, Bunkley's stock is rising. 13. You don't have to listen to him no matter where you live- your choice.
  14. It seemed out of character for Locke to spazz out after talking to the prisoner. It was so cliche: "Why do you let the doctor make all the decisions?" After that transparent attempt to divide and conquer by the prisoner, Locke's character should have said "nice try". This direction seems forced (unless Locke WANTS to play this role and he and Jack are setting this whole thing up- good cop bad cop, so Locke can get info out of the prisoner...hmmm)
  15. My dad bought a Sony 40 inch LCD TV. He has Time Warner Cable HD. In Rochester (Victor) channel 8 (CBS) and Fox 31 don't come in through HD. But I am under the impression he can get these channels in high def if he uses the HD antenna and not Time Warner. Is this correct? And if so, does anyone recommend an antenna? These don't need to mounted outside or anything do they? Thanks, Jeff
  16. Fair enough. You are right, I don't run a draft site. I subscribed to www.nfldraftscout.com and they do their own work and have a substantially different list than others I have seen. With the 8th pick in the NFL draft, they have the Bills taking the DT from Florida State: Brodrick Bunkley DT Florida State That the Bills need help along the defensive interior is obvious. What might not appear as obvious, however, is that Bunkley actually fits the profile of the type of defensive tackle new coordinator Perry Fewell better than the higher profile Haloti Ngata. Fewell, formerly with Chicago, is expected to bring a similar strategy of quicker, pass rushing defensive tackles to Buffalo, something that fits Bunkley perfectly. My point is that most sites have very similiar rankings and that DOES turn into a "groupthink" and people's initial reactions ("we drafted great" or "we drafted badly") is based on the hype created by many draft sites which say the same thing.
  17. So are you suggesting for the Bills to keep him at his current salary? He said he would take no pay cut. Assuming that to be true, what would you do? I agree that at that salary that it is a no-brainer- let him go. But I agree with your points that he could still be productive.
  18. Here's a post I copied from a Syracuse board: Free NCAA Tournament Streaming Online Info Sorry if this seems like spam, but I thought you guys might actually be interested in it. This year CSTV (I'm a campus rep for them) and CBS are streaming the whole NCAA tournament online. It's free, and the games are archived. Blackout restrictions will apply for the games as the happen live (ie, if the game's on Syracuse TV, you can't watch it online), but you can watch everything else, along with highlights. If you want to signup, here's the link: Click here
  19. The biggest hype of all is the rankings themselves. You can look at 100 mock drafts or player rankings and they are all the same within a spot of two. You mean to tell me that everyone thinks the same thing? Well, since the vast majority of people don't scout themselves they have to take other people's opinions. And where did these mock draft sites get their lists (that seems to match everyone else's?). They copy and tweak. The draft is about predicting the future. Hit and miss. I like it when teams succeed by doing their research themselves and go against the grain of 300 mock drafts, get criticized by Mel Kiper, and ultimately are vindicated by the player they took "too early". There are many examples of this. On the flip side, how many 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounders turn out to be very good. Whenever someone goes back 5 years and reevaluates that year's draft, it looks nothing like the actual order. The best is when columnists grade the draft the next day by assigning letter grades. What a useless exercise. Although it IS fun reading, it is meaningless.
  20. One mock draft actually has the Bills taking Bunkley: "That the Bills need help along the defensive interior is obvious. What might not appear as obvious, however, is that Bunkley actually fits the profile of the type of defensive tackle new coordinator Perry Fewell better than the higher profile Haloti Ngata. Fewell, formerly with Chicago, is expected to bring a similar strategy of quicker, pass rushing defensive tackles to Buffalo, something that fits Bunkley perfectly."
  21. Chad Greenway: Rated 2nd out of 141 LB's. Positives: Pure athleticism. Equally effective in coverage as he is as a run defender. ... Uses prep experience as a quarterback and safety to play with unusual understanding in zone coverage. ... Legitimate speed and a good burst to the ball. Uses his hands well to re-route the receiver and bat away passes. ... Legitimate sideline to sideline speed. Evades blocks with his athleticism. ... Reliable tackler in the open field. ... Leader. Team captain as both a junior and senior. Returned for senior season due to respect of coaching staff, teammates. ... Always first in line during drills. ... Showed confidence in accepting an invitation to the Senior Bowl and proved to be unquestionably the top linebacker there. Negatives: Not used as a pass rusher in college, so rush technique is limited. ... Reliable tackler in the open field, but not considered a big hitter. ... Evades blocks at the point of attack, but isn't always forceful at the point of attack.
