  1. Wow- a service that provides you with detailed alibis. Just think if George Costanza had this... Alibis
  2. I normally don't comment on grammar. Typos are part of flying fast and free on the internet. BUT... IT IS NOT Texan's or Golden Boy's. Do not use an apostrophe when you want the word to be plural. correct: Texans Golden Boys
  3. If the Bills don't draft someone who weighs more than 280 pounds, I will be disappointed.
  4. Yeah, GW talked Joe Gibbs into drafting Sean Taylor saying he was the type of safety that his 46 hybrid defense needed. Gibbs wanted Kellen Winslow Jr. Not sure who the better choice would have been.
  5. Kiper was asked on ESPN who made their mark at practice- he said D'Brickashaw solidified himself as a top 5 with RB Lorenzo (Memphis) and QB Cutler (Vanderbilt) moving to the top. The more skill positions that move to the top tier the better. Throw in Lyndel White and teams may be wanting our 8th pick to grab one of these guys. If not, the DT from Oregon looks like he will ours if we want him.
  6. God, I hate this question... let me live in denial, will ya?
  7. Kind of like George Costanza doing the opposite. "Hi, I'm George. I'm unemployed and live with my parents. "Well...HELLO"
  8. There's an opinion page that compares Tom Donahoe's reign to the Ottoman Empire. The Turks really look forward to Jauron.
  9. Turkish News Who knew Turkey loves the Bills?
  10. Welcome to the board...good post I agree with you, at this stage of the game, what Marv does this year is more important than the differences between two former head coaches.
  11. Bills Training camp is roughly six months away but 10-year veteran Chris Villarrial is having a hard time containing his excitement over the team's recent hiring of Dick Jauron as the 14th head coach in franchise history. "Just talking with a few of my teammates, we're excited and we're are looking forward to getting back to work and showing everyone that we are not a dysfunctional football team but we are winners," Villarrial said via phone from Evansburg, Pennsylvania. In fact, Villarrial has already made plans to return to Buffalo on Thursday with the hopes of reacquainting himself with Jauron, whom he played under in Chicago. Villarrial started 75 games at right guard during Jauron's five-year tenure as the Bears head coach (1999-2003) and describes the 55-year old Yale graduate as a low-key coach that knows when to raise his voice. "Dick is a guy that treats men like men and he really enjoys the game and loves the game," said Villarrial. "He's also straight-forward with you and you always know where you stand with him." In 2001, the Jauron coached Bears stood atop the NFC Central Division with a 13-3 record. That year, the Bears defense was ranked first in the league in points allowed and second in rushing. The year was highlighted by five second half come-from behind wins, and the Bears were 8-0 in games decided by seven points or less. Jauron was named the Associated Press NFL Coach of the Year. "That was legit," said Villarrial. "That was a team playing together as a team." The following season, however, the Bears were hampered by a number of player injuries and went 4-12 leaving many to wonder if the 2001 season was a fluke. "If you looked to see what happened, that following year [2002] a lot of the older guys were released and that hurt us," said Villarrial. "Even in Dick's last year when things were going bad we still managed to come back and win six straight games and a lot of that was to save our coach's job." Jauron and the Bears parted ways after the 2003 season and he later became the defensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions. He was named interim coach for the final five games of 2005 when Steve Mariucci was fired. "A lot of things happened [in Chicago] but [the media] will see and the Buffalo fans will see that he's a true football coach and a down-to-earth guy and he's a winner," said Villarrial. "There are a lot of people in this league that want to play for Dick Jauron and that's only going to help us with free agency and everything else," added Villarrial. "I think with a lot of things that have happened during the past two seasons it's evident that we kind of lost that family atmosphere but with these two guys coming back [Marv Levy and Jauron] we're going to get it back."
  12. And would hiring Sherman have prevented your true-life anguish as well as your hopes and optimism from being crushed? Just asking.
  13. Did you just quit smoking or something?
  14. Well, if you are saying Jauron isn't credible, then maybe he's INcredible! He's been a head coach. He will know what he wants to do from the get-go. I agree with your comment, but I suspect that the defense will know that this guy knows his sh-- from Day One and on Day Two he will be credible. Does the new Jets coach have credibility as a HEAD coach? I don't know. You say Jauron is a "yes-man"? I don't think that's a fair assessment. You don't get to be where he is without standing up for yourself and what you believe in. Just my opinion.
  15. The Sherman groundswell happened pretty quick. First SDS solicited some nice posts from Green Bay fans. We find out he's a classy guy who is a good coach and injuries were the main reason he was fired and GB finished in last place. Then Soprano came out and said Sherman's a done deal. He's got a good offensive mind, liked JP (he was gonna draft him probably), and was loyal to his players and vice versa. Sherman's stock went from zero to sixty relatively quick. I found myself throwing myself on the Sherman bandwagon as well. Hooray for Sherman! Jauron seemed like a bland, reserved guy with no personality. His 13-3 record was an anomaly. Yuck - who wants that guy? Anyway, Sherman became instantly good, Jauron instantly bad (from my perspective anyway). "Sherman's great! Jauron sucks!" Case closed. "What? we hired Jauron? Oh no...he sucks...Sherman would have been great! Sherman gooooooodddd....Jauron baaaaaaaad....." I admit, I fell into this Animal Farm way of thinking. Now I am thinking "what was I thinking?" Of course there is no black and white here. Jauron has to do a couple of things to succeed: gain and keep the respect of the players, make them believe in the system, and have them buy into the team concept. A tough job for sure for anyone. Marv has the tougher job. He has to fill some key spots and weed out a few guys. The job of head coach may be overrated a bit (Barry Switzer?), but the GM's responsibilities will never be overrated. It may be that Marv felt he could work better with Jauron, and there can be no friction between the coach and the GM at this stage of the game. We are all trying to predict the future. "Sherman gooood... Jauron baaad." Maybe it's not that cut and dried. Maybe Jauron has something to offer. Maybe he can do something with these Bills- the right guy at the right time.
  16. While it is awkward, why is that grammatically incorrect? seriously... "I can no longer continue as head coach" or "I am not able to continue as HC" sounds better but "I can no longer be able to continue as the head coach" seems okay.
  17. Please God no. Is he still around? I heard Elvis was leaving HIM tickets at football games.
  18. I probably liked MM more than most, but I think the time is right for new blood. If I'm Marv Levy, I give Bobby April a nice check and tell him to make himself comfortable while offensive and defensive coaching positions will be wiped clean. Talk about Marv Levy's responsibilities. Put a new face on the Buffalo Bills. I thought Marv was going to be a figurehead to get everyone on the same page and working positively together. Now look at Marv. He's in the position of dictator (he could sell RW on anything, so whatever Marv says goes). I figured his biggest job was Ngata or Justice. Now he gets to build a coaching staff from scratch based on our existing players' strengths and weaknesses. Please don't screw this one up, Marv!
  19. I think with Ralph's "thriftiness", the only coach we can get for low money IS a coordinator looking for a shot. For every GW and MM, there's a John Fox and a Lovie Smith... The Bills could get a "dog" hiring some coordinator, but could find a diamond in the rough as well. I think Marv's intuition may be better than TD's to find a head coach.
  20. I want someone who knows how to handle players, communicate with the fans, and basically inspire everyone. I hear that Jets Def Coordinator Donnie Henderson is a guy that his players would run thru walls for. Whether it's him or not, I want that kind of guy. I don't think Fassel is that guy. Gregg Williams wasn't that guy, no matter how good a DC he is/was. Haslett? I'm not sure. Choose wisely Marv.
