  1. I thought Charlie's jump to "evil" was too much too soon. Yeah, he was having problems with Locke, and we don't know about his heroin use, but to have Charlie's character physically assault Jun (just because Locke frustrated him) was a "leap" to say the least. They borrowed a page from the old WWF where a guy shakes his buddy's hand and then out of nowhere punches him in the face and basically declares "I'm a bad guy now!"
  2. If your point is that Theismann is a little too sensationalistic, I agree. When Theismann said that, the Vikings were 2-5 earlier in the season and went through the Love Boat scandal. The Vikings won 6 in a row after everyone had them out of it and all of a sudden they were 8-5 after being 2-5. "Mike and Mike" and other respectable sports guys also mentioned Tice as a coach of the year candidate in mid-December just for keeping his team in it. Then the Vikes lost 2 in a row and were out of it. But it wasn't an unreasonable statement at the time.
  3. I seem to be the only one who likes Theismann. The reason is that he is critical of officiating and at least commentates at the speed of the game. After watching the superbowl with Madden, who refuses to be controversial, depends on replays because he misses what happens DURING the play, and rarely says anything that semi-educated football fans find interesting, I am convinced he has nothing left to offer. Theismann has his faults. He says one thing and 30 seconds later says another. He heaps on the praise for the superstars (get a room, Joe!). But he doesn't let the crappy calls go by like Madden did. I would have loved to see Theismann instead of Madden in the recent Superbowl. Kornheiser will call Joe on his faults during the game and this will be a good team. Tirico? Not a big fan of his as a play by play announcer. He was bad with Herbstreit and Corso because he didn't do his job. If he gives the down and distance, substitutions, penalities, and stays ahead of the game, etc... and doesn't waste his time trying to join in the shtick of the other two, I will change my opinion on Tirico.
  4. The Pittsburgh Steelers select: Jonathan Scott Offensive Tackle - University of Texas Height: 6-7 Weight: 310 40-Time: 5.30 "Don't mess with Texas" - hopefully not a Mike Williams clone.
  5. That was awesome. Here's a good one as well: What if Nora Ephron directed The Shining. (need quicktime) http://www.ps260.com/molly/SHINING%20FINAL.mov
  6. How many forum members does it takes to change a light bulb? 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs 1 to move it to the Lighting section 2 to argue then move it to the Electricals section 7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs 5 to flame the spell checkers 3 to correct spelling/grammar flames 6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as stupid 2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp" 15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct 19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum 11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum 36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty 7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs 4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's 3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group 13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too" 5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy 4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" 13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs" 1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.
  7. "In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face. For some, shyness might be their El Guapo. For others, a lack of education might be their El Guapo. For us, El Guapo is a big, dangerous man who wants to kill us. But as sure as my name is Lucky Day, the people of Santa Poco can conquer their own personal El Guapo, who also happens to be *the actual* El Guapo!"
  8. If that was the only choice: 2 games in Toronto or lose the Bills, then I say let's have 2 games in Toronto. Boy, Russ Brandon would have his hands full (taxes, border, Canadian dollar, etc...) I can see the headline: BILLS FORFEIT, STOPPED AT BORDER
  9. Sounds great! (Except for the 'Go Stillers' part)
  10. I liked it, but did feel I was missing something not being familiar with these characters. Are they planning on another Serenity movie (ie, did the first one make enough money?)
  11. Anyone making anything good? I am looking for ideas! [Edit: before it's too late, please no rettata references ]
  12. Q: Hey, would you like a solid corner with good cover skills? A: Naw, we are playing cover two- don't need one. I would think that having a cornerback with good cover skills is "a must" regardless of what defense scheme you're playing.
  13. OK, based on the many people on this board who recommend this, I am giving it a shot. Look forward to it. Will let you know.
  14. I thought I knew what Cover 2 was. Here is a link that explains what it is and how it works. I learned a lot. "The Cover 2"
  15. Yeah, I knew they had Staley and Parker. Staley is injured a lot, so I figured he's not part of their long range plan. Willie Parker has talent, but sometimes hurts the team more in dropped passes and fumbles. He needs competition and Maroney is a tough runningback. OLB Bobby Carpenter was the safe choice. Every site I see has Pitt taking him ("could be GREAT in a 3-4...!) No thanks.. Chad Jackson was picked before me, but I dont trust Florida receivers for some reason.
  16. The Pittsburgh Steelers select: Laurence Maroney RB 5’11 205 Minnesota Jr. Laurence Maroney has been one of the biggest playmakers in the country at the running back position over the past two seasons. He paired with Marion Barber III to form one of the best rushing duos in the history of college football. They both ran for over 1,000 yards for two consecutive seasons, becoming the first duo to ever accomplish that feat. As a freshman in 2003, Maroney ran the ball 162 times for 1,121 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was voted to just about every freshman All-American team, and was named the Big 10 Freshman of the Year. He topped those numbers the following year as a sophomore, going for 1,348 yards on 217 carries, with 12 touchdowns on the ground. Maroney is a big play back out of the backfield. He possesses great speed, quickness and has the ability to break off a long run at any time. He runs with authority. He sees a hole and hits it; he doesn’t have very many missed steps. Because of the decisiveness in his style, he packs some punch at the end of runs. He keeps his legs moving and does not go down easily. He brings some return ability as well. As a freshman in 2003, he averaged over 25 yards per kickoff return, and returned one for a touchdown.
  17. Really... I had never heard this before. Who warned TO not to go to Philly because of McNabb? is there a link? I'd be interested to see this statement backed up.
  18. The Steelers are 3 picks away... it's 11:15 and "FutureBillsGM" said he won't be back until tomorrow morning. So the Steelers will post tomorrow morning. Time for bed. I PM'ed Pittsburgh's pick to "2003", feel free to insert the highest ranked one on my list (I gave you three players) if my turn pops up and I am not here. Thanks.
  19. FFS: I too watched PTI with Wilbon defending McNabb's racial comments (and yes, they were racial comments). As I said, this is McNabb's first misstep in my opinion in this whole situation. As a big fan of your posts, I enjoy reading your analyses, but in your above post you say while you do not agree with McNabb's comments, you understand them. For the life of me, I do not understand them. The examples you provided weren't directly from TO, but from other sources (other sources that said McNabb is "selling out the run"). McNabb directly referred to TO's comments, and said this: "It's different to say, `If we had Michael Vick or Daunte Culpepper or Steve McNair or Byron Leftwich," McNabb said of four black starting quarterbacks. "But to go straight to Brett Favre, that kind of just slapped me in the face like,`Wow ..."' I just don't get this at all. TO was just responding to a Michael Irvin question where Irvin brought up Favre. Irvin asked (paraphrased) "Would you be undefeated if Favre was the Eagles' QB?" Owens said "yeah I think we would." This isn't about these QB's being "runners" (Leftwich is not a scrambler) it is about them being black. TO was responding to Irvin's question with the parameters already set. IMO TO was not thinking race. Then McNabb brings all these racial overtones into it (read the italicized quote again). TO deserves ALL the blame for the situation this season. But for McNabb to bring this whole racial aspect into it really puzzles me. So FFS...you say you understand why he (McNabb) said this. I honestly do not get it. Listening to Wilbon and reading your last post do not help me to understand it. PS- Fake Fat Sunny....on to more important things- close to a new name yet?
  20. I think you have a good point in there somewhere. I agree. What was McNabb doing bringing race into this? "Black on black crime?" I thought that was McNabb's first bad play in this whole thing. However, to jump to the conclusion that McNabb thought TO needed to be kicked off the team because a white QB was getting praise doesn't make sense to me. That was a "straw"- agreed- (one I completely do not understand) but to sum it up in one sentence like that paints an inaccurate picture of the entire situation that goes back months.
  21. You need an HOUR to make your next pick? Wow, you're really into this. Even the Bills only get 15 minutes.
  22. Tom wants to get his penis enlarged. He goes to a doctor who says there is nothing he can do, but he has heard of a procedure that a doctor from India had performed and to go see him. Tom goes and sees the Indian doctor. The doctor says "Ah yes, we have a very experimental procedure. I will sew the trunk of a baby elephant on you in place of your penis. It is two and a half feet long." Tom thinks about it and decides to do it. His confidence was boosted and within a week he had a new girlfriend. His girlfriend invited him over to meet his parents. They all sat down at the table and things were going well. All of a sudden, right up the middle, the elephant trunk pops up in full view of everyone, looks around, grabs a potato, and ducks back into Tom's pants. Everyone is speechless. No one believed what they just saw. The mother says "Oh my God, Tom, do you think you could do that again?" Tom replied (with a grimace on his face), "Well, I THINK I could, but I don't think my ass could take another potato!"
  23. Did anyone just see that? He gave it to Terrell Owens good. He came right out and finally told it like it was (Used words like 'cancer' and 'he was the reason..') At the end when asked what advice would you offer other teams who wanted T.O. he looked directly into the camera and said "good luck".
  24. You mean the next 19 hours? Anyone else suspect that President Palmer is alive?
