  1. We need some youth...How about Indy offensive coordinator Tom Moore? He's only 65.
  2. Great Site: Here's one from there: Joe Namath Guarantees He'll Lose Battle With Alcoholism September 21, 2005 | Onion Sports NEW YORK—Swaggering Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath, famous for his flamboyant lifestyle and his historic promise of victory in Super Bowl III, guaranteed Monday that he would not be victorious in his current battle with alcoholism. "The bottle's gonna win this one—I guarantee it," said Namath to a crowd of cheering New York faithful in an impromptu statement at Manhattan's Jockey Club. "I swear this to my fans and the great city of New York—Joe Namath's going to continue the kind of tipsy, drunken lifestyle you guys have come to know and love." Namath went on to make other guarantees during the night, but none of them were intelligible as of press time. .
  3. Report on Ngata: "Hits like Mays and runs like Hayes"
  4. I'd have to respectfully disagree with your assessment. Granted, we are just trying to predict the future, which is a crapshoot. BUT, I think Vince Young does have the accuracy and the elusiveness to succeed in the NFL as a starter. You compare his elusiveness skills to Vick. Jeez, it's not fair you picked the most elusive QB ever to play in the history of the NFL! However, Vince Young can flat out move, not just pure speed, but the ability to just move 2 feet and let a guy dive right by him. He is not a run first QB. His delivery style is a little weird, but he puts the ball on the money. He had the accuracy problems 2 years ago but he was a changed man this year.
  5. The drop kick was great! I just found out that you can drop kick anywhere in the field of play. Example: You can throw a 30 yard pass, the receiver catches it, stops, and drop kicks it through the uprights for 3 points. You don't have to be behind the line of scrimmage like a traditional FG.
  6. He wouldn't wear headphones. He had horrible special teams (Ronnie Jones..didn't they have a "punt catcher"? - thank you Bobby April). Plus, the Doug and RJ soap opera got in the way. TD wanted his own guy.
  7. It's in my hand....go to Amazon.com and check out the reviews!
  8. Oh NO! move to PPP before it's too late! I hear drooling...
  9. Music is all over the spectrum: He likes guitarists, but loves Gabriel, The Who, Acoustic Alchemy, Coldplay, Van Halen, with Rush as his fav (he has Rush in Rio). Thanks, I found a good sale and got him: 1) Bela Fleck concert 2) Roger Waters "In the Flesh" 3) Dire Straits concert 4) Journey 1981 (just released) 5) Phil Collins live 6) David Gilmore live Keep the recommendations coming. I am looking at Van Halen "Live without a Net" on the recommendation of XBenedict and the Audioslave concert based on SmokinandJokin's recommendation.
  10. My brother's birthday is coming up and he just got a big tv connected to great speakers. I want to get him a good concert dvd or two. Any recommendations? Thanks, Jeff
  11. How old is he now? Suggestion: Go buy a bag of those colored plastic Easter Egg shells that you can put things in. Tell him every time he tries something new at dinner (and keeps it down) he can pick out one of the eggs as a reward. Stuff em with little rewards he might like. Pretty soon, he will be wanting to try new things. Works for potty training too...
  12. Halftime, Notre Dame/Ohio State bowl game: A soldier comes home from Iraq and asks his gf to marry him on live TV. She said "yes". Could you imagine if she said "no"? "Um Honey...I wanted to wait until you got home, but I am pregnant with your brother's child and we are getting married Saturday." There's a new reality show- Live Proposals.
  13. I am ready to start obtaining music on a legal basis. I see songs are 99 cents. How does this work? I want to download a music file, keep it stored in my computer or iriver, and burn it to a CD. Do these services let you burn the music you download? Thanks, Jeff
  14. I completely agree with you: most desirable matchup: Indy vs Giants least desirable: Pats vs Cowboys
  15. The Bills finally get a home night game in Ralph Wilson Stadium. The nation is watching. If the Bills get killed and the fans start revolting, booing, chanting, wearing orange, whatever... it will get ugly. It is so obvious (in my opinion) that TD told MM "hey, start Kelly Holcomb- for one game he is our best chance at winning. Save me, Mike". If the Bills win or make it extremely close, TD will breath a sigh of relief, at least for the weekend.
  16. Since the early 1990's, which you refer to, a lot has happened. Technology has brought us the internet, sports talk radio stations, and more TV devoted to sports. Every aspect of popular sports such as the NFL has been amplified. Whereas fifteen years ago you might discuss sports with friends and co-workers, forums like this and sports talk radio has assembled this masses. That has positive and negative ramifications in my opinion. First of all, controversy is a big ratings booster. On "Mike and Mike in the morning" they promote things like "just shut up". "Who said the worst, most controversial things this week? Let's dissect these statements and bring in a barrage of experts to weigh in". Jim Rome became popular with his "have a take, don't suck" negative rants by Dennis Miller wannabes who get rewarded by trashing sports figures. While strong emotions for sports obviously existed in 1990, the outlets for the voicing of these opinions weren't nearly as accessible. Fantasy football, the NFL draft, minicamps, contracts, the salary cap, have all risen to the surface with plenty of coverage and bandwidth to keep it "in our faces" on a daily basis. So, yes, we are bombarded with much more negativity through the media and this has made the average fan more educated, but more cynical. I think we would embrace that group because they were winning. That never changes. (Remember when we were winning? )
  17. Well, maybe when they start winning, you can join the bandwagon again. When you wanna come back, we'll be here for you.
  18. BILLS THREATEN ATTACK ON MOULDS' BONUS ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that the Buffalo Bills have sent a letter to receiver Eric Moulds advising him that, if there are any further incidents involving the veteran receiver, the team will pursue a portion of his signing bonus. More and more NFL contracts contain language permitting significant chunks of bonus money to be recovered if the player engages in a variety of prohibited acts. Already this year, there have been several examples of teams pursuing bonus money, including the Lions and receiver Charles Roger, the Eagles and receiver Terrell Owens, and the Browns and tight end Kellen Winslow. (Maybe it's just a coincidence, by why is it that most of the turds in the NFL are the guys who catch the pig for a living?) Moulds, per Mort, got in hot water because: (1) he took himself out of last Sunday's game after Lee Evans caught three early touchdown passes; (2) Moulds refused twice to return to the game; (3) he said that he's not required to do what the coach tells him to do; (4) he listened to music instead of the coaches at halftime; and (5) he failed to show up for a meeting with coach Mike Mularkey on Monday. We're still not sure that this would have been enough proof to uphold an unpaid suspension, given past precedent involving isolated occurrences of player misconduct. Although many teams likely now believe that the T.O. ruling allows them to take aggressive action, Owens' suspension was upheld because the arbitrator recognized that the move was the culmination of a long line of bad behavior motivated directly by Owens' desire to get more money from the team.
  19. OK, it's game day...time for Bills fans to unite and root against the Patriots. As bad as the situation at One Bills Drive is right now, on game day it's "go go go"! Any "Bills fan" who is rooting for them to lose to get rid of administration or receive a higher draft pick, I say to you I am excited to JP, Willis, and Lee to score some points. Let's go Buff-a-lo!
  20. I left at 11:15 for the KC game from Victor. Just made it. 10:30 from Irondequoit will be fine.
  21. Well, I'll be rooting for the Bills against the Patriots. Yeah, it's tough times right now, but why bail? even for a week? I guess "I'm a Bills fan through thick and thin" doesn't apply to you. To each his own I guess.
  22. I gotta think head coaching experience is overrated. If there is a coach out there available who used to be a head coach, that means they were fired and someone else's trash. These assistant coaches have been coaching football for years and years- they know the deal. Yes, there are of course things you can only learn "on the job" and can only learn through actually doing it, but a good head coach has skills and personality traits that have less to do with football x's and o's and more to do with leadership (see Marv Levy). Most don't acquire these skills when they are 25 or 30 years old, but as they work their way up through the years, GMs have to decide if a guy is capable of running the ship. Maybe MM is that guy, maybe not, but to say he's not the guy because he had no previous head coaching experience is just wrong in my opinion. PS. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Marvin Lewis has complete control over personnel and all football related matters. TD would never relinquish this, rightly or wrongly.
  23. No way.... I'd take Theismann over Madden any day of the week. Madden and Michaels both have run their course. I'm just sick of their voices for the last 25 years. Give us some new blood... some unknowns with quick personalities. How about Dungy for coach of the year? 12-0 is pretty good. Yeah they have great personnel, but hey, 12-0 is 12-0...
