Brandon Banta-Cain For all of your sore muscle needs.

I see your Randall Gay, Erik Flowers, and raise you a Harry Colon.

He lives in Columbus Texas. Trade him to a Texas team, he can still get us a decent pick and play out a few more years as a third down specialist or something.

The Overtime rule needs to be changed
Webster Guy replied to Billsfan032002's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From the 2000 through 2007 regular seasons, there have been 124 overtime games. In every single game except one the team that won the toss elected to receive. And those receiving teams won 60% of the time (and tied once). That's a relatively large advantage, particularly when compared to home field advantage. So what you're saying is you're fine with an OT system that SIGNIFICANTLY skews the outcome of a hard fought overtime NFL game based on a coin toss. On pure luck from a coin flip? That you prefer this old system that places luck over skill? Well, we've ALWAYS done it this way so Im fine with it. I hate that mentality. Change the goddamn OT rules, make them more exciting and fair at the same time. The dreaded 'lose-the-coin-toss-never-touch-the-ball' scenario happened in 37 out of the 124 OT periods, or about 30% of all overtime games. That's too often in my opinion. The NFL's current sudden death format can be exciting and lead to quick resolutions. But if almost 1 out of 3 games is over before the unlucky coin toss loser even touches the ball, a lot of teams and fans are going to be left with a bitter and empty feeling. As they should...... -
Nix Gets Nice Slam On "Whitey"....
Webster Guy replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Dallas" wasn't a sitcom. Although looking back, it was pretty funny. -
You're probably right, but sometimes when guys change teams they can turn the page on some of their old antics. T.O. did it, why not Vince. Plus he will have nothing to whine about when he's the highest paid dude on the team.
-
Yeah and we should draft Mike Williams ahead of pro bowler McKinnie because Mike's a nicer guy and Mckinnie's a dick. Im not suggesting you hang out with the guy. Remember that two of the strongest running teams in the NFL (Jets/Miami) we face FOUR times a year. What's your solution to stopping the run, more undersized character guys?

My understanding of the franchise tag is that you are guaranteed a one year deal equal to the average of the top 5 salaries of NFL players at your position. Is that right? I would imagine with a deal like Haynesworth got, that would pull the average up quite a bit. I assume the downside for Vince is that he wants big money guaranteed in case of injury which a one year deal doesn't offer. Hard to believe if the Bills want to run a 3-4 they wouldnt go after this guy. I would gladly cut Kelsay and Schobel for big Vince, assuming the Pats do a Tag-n-Trade. Nix needs to land one proven impact FA at either linebacker of D-line, and this seems a no-brainer. Wonder if Nix can talk Ralph out of his cash-to-cap (aka conservative chickenshit) fiscal policy.

Looking back at 2006/2007 Mocks
Webster Guy replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good post. I like that kind of stuff. Missing guys like Dumerville are acceptable to me. Nobody thought he would be that good, although his sack production faded a little in the second half of the season. Its the obvious misses like Ngata, Oher, Cushing, Orakpo that burn me. I'll still never forget Marv Levy saying right after the draft that he wouldn't have taken Patrick Willis anyway even if the niners hadnt grabbed him ONE spot before us. Dumbass. -

Does Ralph Owe Buffalo a Succession Plan?
Webster Guy replied to wisebill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hate when people use the term "owe", as in Ralph doesn't OWE us anything. Does he legally need to notify the community that he's going to sell the team? Not with the exception of notifying his landlord (the county) who rents him the stadium (named after him) that was built/renovated with taxpayer money. He has used that stadium to make millions of dollars stemming from taxpayer investment. He has a moral obligation to keep the fans informed as best as possible because he knows how important the team is to them. I have posted on this before, but if I own the team I wouldnt want to be seen as another Art Modell, who alienated an entire city that now hates his guts because he handled the situation with no class. If Ralph built a stadium himself and had no help from my tax dollars I would say he owes nothing. If he uses my money to make money for himself and truly understands how bummed fans will be if they lose their team, then he should do everything he can to communicate the options available to him and his family regarding a succession plan. I would respect his right to sell the team, but only if he does it with class and a detailed explanation of the offers received and why he chose to go the route he did. He definitely "owes" us that. -
Focusing on the draft, with some speculation I heard today
Webster Guy replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
wow dude, you used the exclamation point so much i thought it was my daughter's diary there for a minute....... wait a second, Jenna is that you? -
Agreed. Head coach hirings are just like draft picks, you research as much as you can on all of your options, you go out and make your best guess based on what's available and you never know how you did until the real bullets start flying on the field. Anything else at this point is just like grading a college draft the day after its over-- virtually impossible to tell whether or not you've made the right choice. All of our recent HC's have been defensive guys except Mularkey, who I think wasn't ready. I'm glad we got an offensive guy who has put his NFL teams in the playoffs more seasons than not. Time to take a shot at a first round QB and let it fly baby..... Im pullin for ya Chan the Man !

Gotta love this tweet from Kawika

aaaaaaaaahahahahahahaha -
Well the AFC certainly has risen and fallen quite a bit lately. Dolphins went from worst to first two years ago. Pats havent won a playoff game in awhile. They didn't even make the playoffs last year. Jets slid up pretty significantly and are making a run after a crappy midseason. I think even small changes from year to year (and a few lucky--or unlucky bounces of the ball) can swing a team from 6 or 7 wins to ten wins and a post season shot.

What about this idea for Ralph?

What about this idea for Ralph?
Webster Guy replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow. You just told me to be constructive and then slammed me. Nice. I understand public ownership isnt allowed under current NFL policy, I was proposing that it would be a better alternative than our situation, and it seems to be working for another team. The NFL has changed policies in the past and it will continue to change them in the future. Why not look into public ownership? Its called forward thinking, proposing a change for the better, coming up with possible solutions to a worsening situation that needs to be addressed. You called it shortsighted but I think its exactly the opposite. A billion dollar organization with one old man running the show and virtually no plan for transition after his death. I teach business management at Geneseo and use the Bills in my class as an example of why large private organizations can fail. I believe they are failing now and Ralph is too out of touch. It limits our ability to bring in quality GM's and coaches and possibly even free agent players. I make a lot of idiotic posts sometimes on this board, but I actually think this is a decent idea. (i get one a year tops) -
I was watching an old clip of Al Davis ranting right after he fired Kiffin , and it struck me how these pathetic old codger owners are ruining the NFL. Not only has the game passed them by but even their personalities and ability to relate to the people in their organization has eroded to the point where its laughable. Ralph included. The Bills need new ownership. The community needs to approach the league and Ralph with a buyout offer structured as a public offering similiar to what they've done in Green Bay. A well managed, publically owned playoff caliber organization. The Packers are owned by their fans. They were incorporated in 1923 as a private, non-profit, tax-exempt organization. Article I of their bylaws states, "this association shall be a community project, intended to promote community welfare...its purposes shall be exclusively charitable." The team can move only through dissolution. A board of directors, elected by the stockholders, manages the team. Imagine how nice it would be if we had a sharp intelligent Board of Directors at the wheel instead of senile old Ralph fumbling his way along. Public ownership in a city like Buffalo where the team is a permanent, rooted civic asset, fans and citizens would be more willing to financially support the Bills. If the fans receive a commitment, they will return loyalty with loyalty, as the fans in Green Bay have overwhelmingly shown. Remember the population of Green Bay is only 200,000 and this system works very well for them. We have a few million if you count the supporting Rochester population. What I don't understand is why cant the Bills follow this model and sell shares of the team to the community. If the commish genuinely wants the Bills to stay, and the community obviously is still behind the team despite it's mismanagement and mediocre product, then why not submit a proposal to the league and a legitimate purchase offer to Ralph. He could remain chairman of the board and majority shareholder even, but there would be a plan in place and a successor elected by a majority when the time comes for him to step down. This stuff is done every single day in corporate America, a proven concept and a refreshing alternative to having these old dinosaurs like Al Davis and Ralph run their organizations into the ground with nobody to answer to. Imagine how much better everyone would feel about this team and the organization if an agreement could be reached here.

Dont forget they are going to have to pay Wilfork HUGE money to keep him, which will weaken their options in FA acquisitions (traditionally a strength for them) -

Obviously you misspelled a lot of words, and I understand the message was about content and not word skills, but when you misspell "incompetent" it's downright funny. How appropriate. If you're goin to be a future father AND Bills fan, here's a tip: You need to get TIVO man. You can still spend Sundays with your family and then fire up the game in the evening. No Celino and Barnes ads, no waiting for the officials to agonize for an hour over instant replay, and most importantly, no frustration at having wasted your time on the Bills. You can watch the game in a very comfortable 45 minutes (2 beers for most of us, 3 for you younger guys). If the Bills stink the joint up your time sacrifice is small, if they seem to be playing well and keeping you entertained then you're happy. You can't change the Bills, but you CAN change your system. We here at the Bills Message Boards are always trying to give you whippersnappers some perspective. Hope this helps. Oh and if your new baby is a boy, name him Elbert. You remember him from the old days I'm sure..... -
