  1. Awesome find — that clip gets me pretty fired up about this under-the-radar pick. He’s got some nasty to him. Go Bills!
  2. If Burns can carry some more weight — he could be a very good pro. Was the lone bright spot on Defense for the Noles — and came to play every down.
  3. I think OC is one of the most important positions on the line -- charged with making protection calls and vital to the QB snap. Losing a quality player like Wood has been a big problem -- and I actually thought Bodine started playing decent. I think the Bills are likely to resign Bodine for next year as starter. Either him or another vet -- because looking around the league -- it is not a position that you can easily plug in a college draftee anyways. The only team starting a rookie center is Arizona -- Mason Cole 2018 Third Rd pick The two best draft prospects in 2018 (Billy Price and James Daniels) are backups for their teams.
  4. He had many more bad ones -- it was brutal to watch him at the stadium. I don't think this was a bad move.
  5. I question just what in the hell some of the posters on here want. Do you want a team that is capable of competing for championships or one that can occasionally go 9-7 but mostly goes 7-9? What did you think was going to happen this year behind a rookie QB, rookie MLB and patchworked OL? I think some people are delusional in their criticisms of the off-season QB decisions. We had 50 million in DEAD cap space to deal with. After the benefit of seeing how things played out -- do you really believe that the Bills would be so much better positioned if only they had signed one of the porcelain dolls like Sam Bradford or Teddy Bridgewater? They couldn't afford Cousins... and Keenum has been a predictable disaster. It has been reported that the Bills tried to sign Anderson prior to Training Camp but he preferred more pool time sipping liquids out of coconuts to the training camp grind. Signing McCarron was generally well received on here at the time -- but his dumpster fire of a preseason showed he was no better than PeterPick. Based on the preseason -- noone could have realistically predicted the magnitude of how bad Peterman would play in the games. His knowledge of the system trumped anything you could get off the scrapheap at the time (Matt Barkley). In terms of OL -- who was there for the taking that the Bills screwed up on? Norwell signed with the Jags for a boatload of money -- and Jacksonville is all of one game better than the Bills at this point??? Solder got enough gold to warrant a special room in Ft. Knox -- and the Giants are actually worse than the Bills. We couldn't afford either. None of the other top free agents beyond Josh Sitton (old) and Pouncey (never coming here) were affordable either -- so how could they have waived a magic wand to fix the OL -- especially since all of the projected replacements had experience and were thought to be capable replacements for the short-term. Were you in favor of drafting a first-round OL over Allen or Tremaine? I don't find fault with how McBeane handled the off-season. IMO - Star and Harrison have helped shore up the run defense. Murphy was worth the gamble and they took a swing with Vontae. If I fault them for anything -- it could be in the coaching schemes being deployed (offensive line, play calling) but....who's to say the calls/scheme haven't been blown up by the inept execution? I'll admit that, as a season ticket holder, it sucks watching the offensive performance on the field -- but it sucked way worse to go 17 straight years without the confidence that things would improve over the next year. Go Bills.
  6. I agree with you — but I bet you the Bills did put in a waiver claim for him but were beaten out by the Tampa Bay Bucs — they claimed him on waivers.
  7. Talent does not trump experience and decision making in the NFL. Allen hasn’t seen anything remotely close to what will be thrown at him in the regular season. I am all in on him as our future QB — but the kid can benefit from sitting and watching and learning for a bit this season.
  8. This was my thought as well. I think this show did more to make me impressed by McDermott than anything else. He has “it” — Hue — not so much.
  9. Apologies that my notes are not quite as detailed as Astrobot’s were — but just returned from a BEAUTIFUL night at SJFC. Some thoughts on the first practice: 1. We all need to truly appreciate the player that Kyle Williams is (and has been) for the BIlls. His leadership comes shining through in everything he does. During tonight’s practice — the Offense and Defense routinely separated — with the Defense relocating to the practice field that is closest to the Athletic Center — away from public view. Whenever they left one field and returned back — guess who was the first one out front RUNNING to the drill area —- KYLE WILLIAMS. I noticed on more than one occasion, Harrison Phillips was tied to Kyle’s hip — I think just being around Kyle is enought to give these guys extra knowledge or motivation. Oh ya — Kyle stayed for at least an hour after practice signing autographs — he is simply amazing — and I for one am going to miss him. 2. Is Tremaine Edmunds really that big? Yes he is — and then some. He is gigantic. From what I saw — he moves very well too. While it wasn’t a full padded practice, this guy is going to be thumping people this year — and opposing players will not like getting hit by him. He looks like the real deal. 3. Offensive Line — let’s just call this a work in progress. For the first practice — there is nowhere to go but up. Line looks like this: Dawkins, Ducasse, Bodine, Miller and Mills. In the individual drills — Ducasse had a false start. It was not pretty. Unfortunately the backups weren’t much better (though things did improve slightly as the night went on). Marshall Newhouse was second string LT — and probably shouldn’t have been. He could not compete with speed of Yarborough on the edge for what would have been a sack that would have killed McCarron. Teller was backup RG and McDermott was backup RT (with Groy at backup center) 4. Speaking of QB’s — when things kicked off, McCarron was alone throwing passes to the RB’s while Allen and Peterman threw to the receivers (at the same time in different halves of the field.). One would be from shotgun while the other was under center. Here - Peterman excelled at throwing against air (receivers not so much — more on that later — but Rod Streater dropped his very first pass against air, though it was thrown by an assistant coach — it was still a ball that should have been caught — he redid the drill and caught it this time — way to go. In 11 on 11, Peterman got the start against the ones. His very first pass — should have been INTERCEPTED by Tre White — but White dropped it. It would have been a pick6. Granted — it was a good jump from White — but Peterman struggled mightily in team drills. McCarron was solid, but unspectacular — definitely appeared comfortable an in control - at one point he was directing his receiver on a roll-out pass and hit him in stride running left to right (vs. the inaccuracy of Allen doing the same thing). As for Allen —well, he too was up and down — but he is clearly the superior arm talent. He makes it look so effortless in terms of throwing the ball. He had absolutely the best pass of the night to Rob Foster — when he climbed the pocket (it was collapsing) and zinged it for a 20-25 yard strike OVER THE MIDDLE (#Astrobot). While he had several nice throws — he also had several bad throws — namely short passes while he was rolling out. It seems as though he doesn’t get his body in the right position to make these types of seemingly simple passes. He was wildly off target on several short throws in this fashion. He also put some others on the money well down the field. He has loads of potential. Peterman — well — as mentioned his first pass should have been picked...others as well. It’s as though he decides quickly where he is going with the ball and even if defenders are there says “SCREW IT - I’m throwing anyways.” I think Peterman gets it out the quickest of the qb’s — but it doesn’t matter if you throw it to the other team. 5. WR’s - Streater had a rough go of it tonight. He looked very awkward in his breaks — and had a bad drop against air. On the flip side — who is this Robert Foster. HE had the catch of the night from Allen — but was looking like a very polished receiver out there. Caught many —- although did have a FUMBLE on a reverse. Can’t have that Robert — it was a bummer — because you had the best evening out of the WR’s by far. Reilly looked solid — as did Proehl. KB is clearly one, Holmes was the #2 and behind them —- well, we’ll see. BTW - Ray Ray is very quick. Whether he gets on the field is anyone’s guess. He looks smallish to me — like Roscoe. Things I liked on Defense (couldn’t see much because they were on other field most of time)...Poyer picked up where he left off. Seems like he is also being a leader as well. Jerry Hughes was teaching Love on the sidelines about hand-placement and swim techniques — liked seeing this out of him. Defense was clearly ahead of the offense — but that is to be expected. I think we have a solid defense this year — hopefully that will help our OLINE improve. That’s all I can think of for now — maybe others saw more of the defense tonight. Oh — coolest sight of camp — seeing Pancho Billa and Pinto Ken. Pancho was invited onto the field toward the end of practice. Afterwords, Harrison Phillips spent probably 20 minutes chatting with him — very cool to see. I asked him how he was feeling and he said good..#PanchoPower EDIT - Sorry about the format — my tablet was acting up last night. I will be back at camp next Sunday — hopefully other poster can share their thoughts until then. Couple other thoughts: they spent a lot of time on the new kickoff return format. Taiwan Jones and Cadet were the primary kickoff returners. In reading another post — I absolutely agree that Murphy looks like another giant of a man. He was starting Left End. As said earlier, Poyer and White were all over on defense. Oh ya — for what it’s worth Allen’s girlfriend was there — and had quite the share of fans in her own right. She’s a looker! Bills QB’s may not be getting much national attention — but if Musberger does any games — their significant others sure will. Go Bills!
  10. I do not pretend to know what happened with this UBER driver - but you are inaccurate with your assessment of the college incident. There is way more to the story that you do not reference/know that had a big impact on the woman’s criminal complaint.
  11. I really like the electronic tickets - works really well and is conveniently in my phone so I don't have to deal with a printed page of ads and such. The technology also makes it super easy to transfer to a friend or sell the ticket to someone else -- because you simply enter their email address and "transfer" the ticket to them electronically. They do not need the app to download the bar code (at least they didn't last year) but having the app does make it easier, and, to be eligible for prize giveaways you should have it anyways.
  12. Great Pick. What a classy way to announce — God Bless Pancho Billa.
  13. So this scenario might happen — but I believe the only two QB’s the Bills have interest in trading for are Darnold or Allen. If neither can be had - I believe they focus on using their picks in other ways.
  14. It is sad to see so many fans and media over-react to the Jets trade. First, let’s not kid ourselves — EVERY Pick in the draft is FOR SALE including the #1 overall. If Beane thinks Darnold is his guy, he can make it happen (won’t be cheap) but it’s not impossible. If he has a conviction on one of the other three, moving to #2 is also possible. I think his staff is re-evaluating the cost-benefit of giving up a lot for one of the qb’s vs improving multiple areas of the team. This process will likely last through the draft. Because he didn’t feel the inclination to mortgage the farm 6 weeks before the draft and give fodder to the talking heads for their mindless fantasy shows doesn’t concern me — and it shouldn’t concern you.
  15. $16.5 over 2 years (including incentives) — Beane is the man! This is a steal.
  16. Trent Murphy was suspended first four games of 2017 for testing positive to PED's -- which Murphy claims was related to a generic supplement he was taking and has since switched to a more common type. He said he couldn't even pronounce the substance that he was busted for.... https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/football-insider/wp/2017/05/24/redskins-trent-murphy-working-to-move-on-from-disappointing-suspension/?utm_term=.a1010f67237e Also -- (from a different article) I found this interesting speaking about his 2016 season. I wonder if the PED's were related to his rapid weight gain/loss... https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/football-insider/wp/2017/03/05/redskins-linebacker-trent-murphy-is-facing-a-four-game-ped-suspension/?utm_term=.c69d47806088
  17. This is no disrespect to Sal - because I really like him and enjoy listening to his opinions - but I am sure that the OP is reading way too much into his comment. Sal does not know (nor does any other media personality) what the Bills intentions are....it is all speculation because they get paid to talk in theory. The strategy is akin to throwing out every possible/plausible scenario and when something actually plays out — its merely dumb luck rather than inside source.....well unless you’re Dunkirk Donny.
  18. Thanks for the insight. I was a little young to remember that game -- so it's good to hear from someone that remembers watching it. My favorite line in the story was about the lineman that was relegated to turnstile status on Lawrence Taylor and called for a bunch of holding calls: Also -- can we see if this guy has any offspring in this year's draft -- I like his moxie
  19. I came across this story by accident and found it very interesting. It’s about the final 1987 replacement player game featuring the Bills and Giants. Lots of fascinating stuff in here — and some great stories by Marv Levy. Apologies if this has been posted before — but it was a nice break from the pre-draft stuff. Bills-Giants Scab Game
  20. Isn’t he a free agent now? Why would he just resign with SF without seeing what he can get on the open market. He should command a boatload of money - but is now free game???
  21. Congrats to all my fellow long-suffering TBDers! This is awesome. Go Bills!
  22. I often feel this message board is some kind of secret government psychological experiment. The way some posters read or hear something then conclude something from that is really fascinating. It is like the pass-it-on game. Wonderful fun sometimes....completely off base....but wonderful fun nonetheless.
  23. Just because Rich Gannon says the time outs were mismanaged doesn't make it so. The gameclock was managed properly - as said earlier if the pass is sompleted - the Bills have an opportunity to stop the clock and win the game.
