  1. eball, Speaking as someone who posted on JP's mechanics at camp -- I have to somewhat disagree with you. Yes - JP got it done in college, but the NFL is a different game -- especially for QB's. While my opinion does not mean as much as wyche's, etc -- I do know that good mechanics usually translates into good qb play. If you make a throw off your back foot and without a follow-through (as is the case with many rookie/inexperienced nfl qb's when pressured) -- it will mean less velocity & accuracy. With the speed of nfl db's this is a very bad thing. I think this is something that will be directly accountable for a few picks by JPL this year. I know it is something wyche will obviously work on with him, and I think JPL will become a very good qb for us, but mechanics do mean alot for qb's. Oh -- and your example of brett farve -- watch some replays of his performance in last year's playoof game against the vikes -- he thre like 3 interceptions all directly related to bad mechanics. sorry to rant -- but this is something that I saw and feel is important to jp's development. I also have the utmost confidence in wyche and mularkey to develop JPL. Go Bills!
  2. Just returned from the last camp day before the green bay scrimmage and here are some random thoughts: 1. Duke Preston is a Gem. (Currently #2 center and gets work at LG) He caught my eye during a morning drill and I focused on him throughout the pm drills. He has very fluid footwork (by far the best of our rookie class) and the guy always finds someone to put the pads on (whether or not he blocks the right man is for the coaches to determine -- but at least he always takes care of someone). I feel that if he can continue to mature throughout camp and pre-season I would have no problems seeing him inserted into the starting lineup as center (assuming gandy is a wash and teague moves to LT). 2. JP will be good -- but it might take some time. To me it doesn't look like the game has slowed down for him yet. He appears to be hesitant in his decision-making (but does go through his progressions nicely). Also, when pressured I noticed that he had a habit of throwing off his back foot -- maybe this was a fluke but I hope when the real bullets fly he steps into his throws more. He does have the strongest arm out of our qb's and throws a nice deep ball. 3. Willis looks primed to have a big year. The guy is bigger than I remember and seems to make it look effortless out there. He also had a couple nice blocks on the blitz pickup drills. 4. Edwards looks good. He looks like he bulked up a bit and is pretty athletic. He was also the last person to leave the practice field this morning (spent nearly half hour extra on field with position coach). From what I see of him -- there are no concerns for big pat's departure. I also forgot that he was a starter for us in the past and then had his job taken (ala sam adams). I think he is ready to show bills nation that he deserves to be a starter again. 5. Shaud williams changed his uniform to #20 (thought I was seeing things when #20 lined up in the backfield -- although henry is a bit more muscular than williams). 6. Josh Stamer never got the memo that said we already had 3 starting linebackers. He is flying around the practice field and trying to killl people out there. He had tory woodbury running for his life in blitz pickups. Granted this is in practice and all -- but the guy is simply wired. I hope this continues into special teams during the season. There were a few other notables (namely jeff posey blowing up Brad Cieslak on a blitz pickup drill and justin Geisinger getting completely stood up by one of our reserve de's). Hope this info helps. Just a few opinions from an x-box, armchair qb. Go Bills.
  3. Mike Williams (WR, USC) if it were a dream scenario -- I think he's best player in this draft but for the real draft, I think we would be well off with Anttaj Hawthorne (DT, Wisconsin) -- we need someone to replace big Pat -- Ron Edwards is ok but I think this guy could be really good.
  4. It's pronounced CRA - FONZO (nickname was Cro)..just in case anyone else was curious. I'm a big FSU fan -- it was a pleasure to watch him before his injury -- he would have been a big time prospect. Never played at the same level after his leg injury. Would love to see him back to form cause he could jump a mile to catch the ball -- but I'm not so sure he will ever be back. Go Bills ...and Noles!
  5. dib - from your avatar I see that you are a very wise poster. Go Noles -- next friday night. hope you avert frances in the meantime.
  6. Just think if Kelly was a Kerry supporter... his playing years would have been marred by his constant flip flopping play: Completion, Interception, Completion, Interception, Completion, Completion, Interception....... Wise up Bills Fans -- BUSH/CHENEY '04 (as for you pmoon -- we wil have to have another one of our late night political talks over a case of beer -- so I can enlighten you)
