  1. Honestly, You have to be one of the most self-serving posters on this board. If you are gonna quote something -- you better either include the whole quote or put it in context. Bowden: (laughing) Well, I think it's a consensus among Florida State fans, and boosters that he was an embarrassment in a lot of ways to the university. He won a lot of ball games, probably one of the best football players that ever attended Florida State, but he hurt himself off the field. The good news is that he's young enough to get over that, ya know it, and he's gotta do that. He just can't make those junior high school decisions that he made while he was in college. In your haste to post something negative about Jameis, you also apparently missed this Bowden quote: "This goes back to the best you've ever had -- that's the way I think people are looking at him," former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden said of Winston. "This young man is as good as anybody we've ever had. Maybe as a freshman, that's asking too much, but before he leaves here -- and he might do it this year." http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9826209/florida-state-seminoles-quarterback-jameis-winston-living-lofty-expectations or how about this headline -- since you're into those: Jameis Winston winning over Tampa Bay teammates with work ethichttp://www.tomahawknation.com/2015/5/12/8589271/Jameis-Winston-Tampa-Bay-bucs-qb-rookie-work-ethic?_ga=1.24480122.112645985.1431522521 If you want to be a lousy blogger/gossip artist -- go apply to espn, wgr ot the Buffalo News.
  2. You have no idea what you are talking about. Your reliance on the NY Times article to support all of your conclusions is really flawed.
  3. I have followed the facts that have been presented in this case (as opposed to the media's slanted versions) and must say that I hope some of the posters on this thread are NEVER jurors in our justice system -- as the phrase "innocent until proven guilty" is as meaningless as a mock draft. Here are a few tidbits for those of you who are unfamiliar with this case that you might find interesting: 1. the accuser was in a sororiety that used a twitter handle named #fsucleatchasers and openly posted about their pursuit of fsu baseball players (note - Jameis was considerd a star baseball player prior to starting for the football team) 2. the accuser had a picture posted of her and a friend getting ready to attend the FSU-Miami home game in November of 2013 (note - this would be almost 1 year after the 'incident' in which she claims to be raped by the star QB -- not that I have experience but the last thing I would want to do if I were raped would be to cheer for a team whose QB was the alleged rapist -- let alone be in the same building as him) 3. the accuser claimed to have been incoherent and could not remember many of the details surrounding how she arrived at Jameis apartment -- citing two possible scenarios: she was intoxicated and/or drugged as she had 5 glasses of alcohol and multiple shots (her blood achohol level measured .048 a few hours later during the rape exam and showed no signs of any other substance) and the other story was that she could have been hit over the head and blacked out (there were no signs of trauma consistent with a hit over the head at the rape exam hours after the incident) 4. in addition to jameis dna, the accuser also had dna from another male (meaning she had sex with two men that night/day -- something she was not forthright with the state attorney until the tests came back -- the second person was he supposed 'boyfiend' who was notr an frsru rstrurdent or player) These are just some of the factual details that make this allegation seem less likely to be a rape and more likely to be something else. But then, it probably doesn't matter to some of the judge and jury on this thread.
  4. For those new to this thread Yolo and Fergy do not like Winston. Really nothing more to see here. We get it Yolo - you don't need to keep posting foolish articles and quotes by people that do not know a thing about whether he will be good or not. It is all speculation and opinion. Maybe you will be right - but really the angst you have against this kid is really something. Turn the channel - enough already.
  5. As I said - others are entitled to their opinion as I am mine. Hopefully you saw the combine today - because there was one QB that completely stood out today with everything he did and it was Jameis. From his throws to his interactions with the other players to the presence he commanded on the field - he was special. Oh - and both he and Mariota actually did the damn Qb drills unlike Luck. Props to both - as I never understood why QB's refused to participate. The kid is a special talent and it is going to be fun watching him in the pros - as to the guy that knocked the other fsu qb's - i have watched all of the since charlie ward and winston is in a different league. I like ej as a person - but he is no where bear the same talent as winston.
  6. Really astounding how polarizing Jameis is - and it really is funny how those that give this kid no respect just mimick what they hear in the media like SHEEP. Whatever, you're entitled to your opinion - but man is it going to be fun in a few years to watch you do a complete 180. I'm sure many of the same haters will be drafting him atop their fantasy drafts in a few years after they see how good he is. Jameis is the epitome of a "franchise QB." He is BETTER than Andrew Luck was coming out of college and will be a better pro than him in my opinion. He will elevate any team that takes him instantly. I can't wait to watch him in the NFL. Hope those that have nothing but disdain for this kid remember their foolish predictions in a few years. You will soon see how far off you are on him. Best QB prospect in many, many years.
  7. FC - his last game on tape came in week four with a line that was a dumpster fire and his star receiver playing with injury. Not to mention all the time that he had to "learn" from our coaches and observe how a vet QB operates. I think it would have been a valuable option to see if/how much he has progressed. As it now stands - only Schwartz has any idea if the kid has progressed over the last 3/4 of his second NFL season.
  8. Fans like you will never get that EJ has played 14 games that matter. In that limited time, he has produced as many moments that could project greatness (Carolina game and Baltimore game) as moments that could project bust (Houston game, San Diego game). Take your BS elsewhere.
  9. If EJ plays that game - you get the benefit of putting 60 minutes of a question mark QB on film against live competition and one of the better defensive schemes in the National Football League -- so that coaches can analyze and diagnose what they have to work with in 2015. I think Reich or any next coach not named Schwartz would have highly valued such film.
  10. Agree to disagree then - I have seen Winston multiple times in person and he is a physically imposing presence. He takes control of teams in a vocal way, and is a proven winner. Without Winston, the Seminoles would not have won nearly as many games as they have and would certainly not be competing for their second national title. I did like Luck coming out of school because he was clearly the reason Stanford was never out of games. Winston in my opinion has shown much more of that intangible than Luck to this point in their careers. I don't know any scouts or team officials but there is zero chance an NFL team doesn't draft this kid very high if they believe he has a chance to win them a lot of games regardless of the off field nonsense.
  11. Are you basing this thought on Mel Kiper's Big Board? What layer of documented performance do you see that Luck was a better QB than Winston to this point in their careers?
  12. So - you might want to fire up the millennium falcon and return to whatever planet you came from. Winston IS on every level a BETTER NFL prospect than Luck was through this point in their careers: Luck (2009) - Freshman - 56.3 % comp, 2575 yds, 13 TD, 4 int, 8-5 overall record Winston (2013) - Freshman - 70.7 % comp, 4057 yds, 40 TD, 10 int, 14-0 overall record Luck (2010) - Sophmore - 66.9 % comp, 3338 yds, 32 TD, 8 int, 12-1 overall record Winston (2014) - Sophmore - 65.5 % comp, 3559 yds, 24 TD, 17 int, overall record 13-0 Unless you base your statement off of interceptions - then Winston is better in every single category over Luck. But let's not let facts get in the way of your biased opinion. Stay classy.
  13. Totally agree with you. It is rather astounding that Winston's talent doesn't classify him as a "franchise QB" to the likes of Mel Kiper. But then - Mel Kiper's opinion isn't worth a damn anyways. Completely disagree with those that think Mariotta is better than Winston - but we will soon have a great chance to compare them. Winston naysayers will soon get a dose of reality when he becomes a great QB - IF he doesn't turn pro in baseball first (which I would do in a heartbeat rather than get beat up physically in th NFL).
  14. I don't know what is worse- the fact that I managed to sift through four pages of this thread, the lengths that TMZ will stoop to try and get people to pay attention to them or the level of unfounded disdain that some of you have for Winston. The kid is the best collegiate QB BY FAR and has the potential to be a great NFL player if he chooses to go that route (not nearly a given due to his baseball ability).
  15. As a fan of the bills I will root for whoever the qb is. And yes - I am also a fan of fsu. Was never particularly impressed by manuel's accuracy when he quarterbacked the Noles - but he has always been a great kid to root for. There is a night/ day difference between ponder & Manuel and Jameis Winston. Winston IS a franchise qb. Regardless - when Manuel was a starter he made some great throws and he made some lousy throws. My beef is with Watkins and his hesitancy, inability and general disinterest in laying out for the errant throws that Manuel made. His body language suggested that we was not willing or didn't give maximum effort for ej because of some reason. If Orton or another qb somehow doesn't meet Watkins approval in the future - does he revert back to the form he displayed with ej. I hope not - but there was a discernable difference in the way Watkins played against the lions and the way he played through the first four games - aside from simply being a rookie.
  16. I lost A LOT of respect for sammy today. No denying the kid is extremely talented - but - he did NOT make those kinds of efforts for EJ. This is not an ej thread - don't care about whether you think the kid is the worst qb on planet - fact is Orton made plenty of throws behind his receivers or high - and yet watkins made highlight reel catch after highlight reel catch. I think sammy better grow up and act like a professional. His bff Orton is not the long term qb for the bills and he better not go back to his achy ribs, pull up approach when the next qb comes along.
  17. Agreed Derek! Unfortunately - some "fans" on this site have a bug up their rear about EJ and will never give this kid a chance - it is a real shame. I am really proud of how he has improved his game and could really care less about their opinions or the constant refrain of making excuses for EJ. Go Bills!
  18. Bill - enjoy your posts each week. I was at the game - agree to disagree about EJ. The kid is a gamer and gets better each week. Two passes in particular to Sammy stand out. The would-be TD is on sammy in my opinion - it was a Beautiful pass and should have been caught by Sammy but he did not get off clean.Ditto on another throw later in the game - EJ is starting throw to spots and the receivers need to be able to get off bumps - Sammy has to get better at getting off the line after getting bumped by NFL corners. I like Sammy - but he still needs work. Don't be overly critical on EJ and dismiss the receiver's culpability.
  19. Re-watch the TD throw - it was thrown to the wrong shoulder. Woods made a great adjustment and catch. just stop with the nonsense that Tuel>EJ.
  20. There is only so much bad Bills news/press/etc. that a fan can take - I had my fill after reading this story and here is my response to that ass clown. Don't care if I ever get a response. FWIW: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ To: "ckelly@thestar.ca" <ckelly@thestar.ca> Subject: 3/25 article on Ralph Wilson You are an ass. While much more vulgar words are more fitting to describe you, hopefully your myopic mind is able to grasp the irreverant and callous nature of your published article in the Toronto Star newspaper involving Ralph Wilson. While there is a litany of problems associated with your garbage article (starting with the very insensitive 4th paragraph - "Now that he's gone, they can begin building the next iteration of the NFL...."), you make assertions that are not based in factual research - "Wilson was admired but never loved" - that's why thousands of fans regularly showed up on gameday in shirts and equipped with signs that read "in Ralph We Trust", or the stadium is affectionately known as "The Ralph" to Bills fans - oh but you probably wouldn't know this because your only experience was at the annual game in your POS city in front of sparse crowd of fair weather canadian "fans." Speaking of nonsense - you are quick to point out Ralph Wilson as a "notorious cheapskate" with a "hint of megalomania" for having a stadium named after him (funny since the rogers center is a decrepit, sorry excuse for a stadium named after your own megalomaniac). I guess you overlook the fact that the same "cheapskate" Wilson signed two players to the richest contracts in NFL history at their positions at the time: Jim Kelly - 1986 and Mario Williams-2012. How you somehow know what constitutes his estate is beyond me -- or the fact that you insinuate the man was disingenuous in his desire to keep the team in Buffalo. Again you overlook the fact that he passed (on numerous occassions) the opportunity to move the team elsewhere. You also don't seem interested in applauding him for his efforts to keep the team in Buffalo right up to his final days by finalizing a new lease agreement with Erie County and NYS that likely assures the team cannot be moved until at least 2020. Oh - he also set up a trust with hand selected executors to ensure that the sale of his team is handled according to his wishes and affords those willing to keep the team in Buffalo with a fair chance rather than auctioned to the highest bidder. Kudos to you for seeing through all of that in reaching your moronic conclusuons that he was a liar and cheap though. Pulitzer material you have there. Why don't you stick to covering the stories that really matter to canadians like that helluva hockey offence you have up there on the maple leafs or the d-league basketball team. Better yet stick to covering curling or the sordid escapades of your addict mayor. Toronto should NEVER get an NFL franchise because of idiots like you and the rest of your sports-challenged countrymen. I only hope your obit is as classless as the garbage you wrote about a true AMERICAN hero in Ralph Wilson.
  21. Just got back from training camp and here's a few observations: 1. Not sure if it's because players are amped up for the first session or it is a true culture change -- but the pace really looked more up tempo out there. Even between drills, guys were running (ok maybe it was a jog for them) but they weren't meandering to the next drill like what appeared to be the norm in previous camps. Hope this holdsup throughout. 2. Marrone spent most of the night working with the offensive linemen -- in particular the interior line (Guards and Centers). Looked like Snow was getting the majority of backup center action. 3. EJ looked as good if not better than Kolb all night. Granted no pads and no real rush but he looked as poised and on target as Kolb. If that continues I don't see how the Bils don't name EJ as starter for week one (first pass of the night -- beautiful spiral for a depp touchdown down right sideline -- next pass was picked hahaha). 4. Starting OLINE: Glenn, Brown, Wood, Urbick, Pears Goodwin looks faster than everyone (hope he can catch) 5. There was a Marcus Easely sighting - made a couple nice catches including a nice adjustment to a ball either thrown to the wrong shoulder by Kolb or a wrong route/mistiming by Easely (either way he made a nice catch) 6. Scottt Chandler looked really good. Can't believe he is back to full speed already 7. Offense looked decent -- can tell they want to run fast-paced. Few times there clearly would have been a sack or play blown up.... 8. Can't wait for more -- really excited that football is back!
  22. This and other similar quotes regarding Buddy are completely moronic. The man did an OUTSTANDING job as Bills GM -- and has this team poised for a playoff run. If anyone thinks the Bills are not markedly better today than they were when he took over -- they are either lying or haven't watched the bills longer than 3 years. I think Buddy helped restore this franchise and I hope that Whaley is ready to build on that success. Some of you posters need to find another team to root for -- as it really must be taxing to find anything good about the current Bills regime.
  23. Just wanted to add a few extra observations from last night's practice. Overall - Jay hit on the highlights -- but for those that haven't seen this Bills team in person yet, here's a couple things to take away: 1. Stephon Gilmore already looks like one of the best players on the team. He is competing with the starters and is primarily on Stevie Johnson. The kid is always in the faces of the WR's. He is quick and physical. Going off what I saw at camp -- it looks like he might get more pass break-ups than picks -- because he is locked onto his man. If there is such a thing as lock-down corner -- this kid is it! 2. Mark Anderson is very, very quick. He has one of the fastest moves off the line and seems to really know how to get in the backfield. I saw someone questioned why he is behind Kelsay. I have to agree -- but on the other hand -- I'm not sure it is possible to keep up that high of a motor on every snap -- maybe they have Kelsay as the prodder to lull the tackles asleep and then will bring in Anderson to collect a bunch of sacks. 3. As already mentioned - Fitz looks like he is throwing harder. I used to question this guy's arm strength (and he still might not have a cannon) but he is sure getting his passes to the receivers in a hurry. I like the look of Fitz. 4. Mario is as big as advertised. Guy looks very intimidating. 5. Dareus is going to have a monster year! 6. Starting O-Line was: Glenn (LT), Levitre (LG), Urbik ©, Rhinehart(RG), Sam Young (RT). Until they add Wood and Pears to that group -- I would expect to see some inconsistencies from the offense. Our defense appears to be that good. 7. Young is so-so. Looked better running than passing. I hope Lee is able to work with him -- but given the way Fitz looks -- I wouldn't want to see Young in the game. 8.Tank Carder impressed me in the individual drills. Not sure if he can beat out some others -- but he had a couple nice pass break-ups in the drills. Oh - and because I'm an FSU fan -- I was really interested in the punting situation: Moorman clearly looked like the better of the two last night and is much more consistent over Shawn Powell. I don't think he get's beat out. Potter made his FG's -- but Lindell looked sharper. I really want to see Potter's leg on kickoffs.
  24. Because he drops as many as he catches - very inconsistent and notre dame is the most over-rated football program in America...next to penn state. Not to mention character issues.
