I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood you. I took away from your first post above that fans aren't very knowledgeable at all, because in your own words, "they are wrong a majority of the time." My assumption was that you slyly were putting forth the often seen narrative in here that goes like this: "Those guys (NFL coaches and front offices) are professionals, they know what they're doing! You're just an armchair QB who knows nothing." My counterpoint to the above is that there are some fans who are just as knowledgeable, and maybe even moreso, than actual NFL coaches & GMs. I gave the draft as one example. Really bad trades would be another example. Poor use of personnel (by coaches) would be another example. We see the latter things all the time, and it certainly contributes to coaches & GMs getting fired. In any case, Cheers! I am hoping & praying that the Bills go on a 9-game winning streak to end this season. Go Bills!

What, have some holders pulled tha ball away from Bass ala Lucy from Charlie Brown? LOL As a kicker, all you can do is: hope the snap is good, hope the holder fields the snap cleanly, and hope he puts the ball down immediately. Spinning the ball so the laces are facing the goalposts is nice, but not necessary. I don’t really see it as "trust", but just expecting the snapper and holder to be competent at what they do. Sort of the same thing a QB expects of his snapper when in shotgun formation. I'm guessing all league QBs "trust" their centers, but guess what, occasionally those centers make a bad snap on a shotgun formation. For FGs, of course, timing is involved, but that's mostly on the kicker, as there is a certain point where he starts his move toward the ball.

No, I don’t realize that. There are LOTS of fans here on TSW who have been watching & studying the Bills, and the NFL, for DECADES. My opinion is that MANY of those folks have just as much knowledge about the NFL AS ANYBODY, and certainly more knowledge that 90% of the talking head “experts” on radio/tv shows. It ain’t brain surgery out there on the field, and neither are front office moves, as proven EVERY YEAR by the NFL draft, where nothing is a “sure thing”, and early round picks often turn out to be busts….and late round picks sometimes turn out to be gold. I don’t think they’re as smart as you seem to think they are.

Kansas City at Buffalo in the Divisional Round!
Bob Jones replied to chongli's topic in The Stadium Wall
So looking at the weather, I see that y'all are getting more snow up there right now, and even more to come over the next few days. Question: Will the Bills have the stadium 100% cleaned out (of snow) by game time Sun night, or will it be another clusterf***? -
Any word on Sam Martin?

Bills release Fournette from the Practice Squad
Bob Jones replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall
Still confused. Leading up to the game, how on earth do they not ensure that they will have 53 active for the game? -
Bills release Fournette from the Practice Squad
Bob Jones replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have a question about the 53 number. Before the last game, someone posted up the roster of who would be active for the game, divided by position. I counted up all the names and came up with only 48. Anyone care to explain this? -
I don’t know this for sure because I didn’t see it, but some people said that Bass' left (plant) foot lost traction as he went to kick that 27 yarder. IF that was the case, then I can't/won't fault him for that. S**t happens sometimes in our lives which we have absolutely zero control over, like a foot slipping on the turf.

It should have been a non-story back in the summer of 2022 when these baseless, money grabbing, FALSE accusations surfaced. I was very disappointed when the Bills immediately succumbed to the pitchfork wielding MeToo mob. What they should have done is immediately put a lid on it, just like they did with the Kim Pegula situation. All they had to do was show a little loyalty and backbone, and if any media tools brought it up, say “no comment, we will not be answering any non football related questions about Matt Araiza.” Araiza and Bills players could have been instructed to say the same thing. Any media hack who pressed on could have been banned from OBD. The Bills lame excuse of “he needs to go take care of the situation” was crapola. He NEVER needed to be in CA, since he was never charged, and never served or subpoenaed. As an FYI, PLENTY of NFL players have been accused of various “immoral” actions, and most of them have not been immediately cut by their teams. I think they should do the right thing and bring him back, if not this week, then before the start of training camp for sure.

Bills release Fournette from the Practice Squad
Bob Jones replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall
With salary & endorsement money, JA rakes in north of $45 million per year. She was paid off handsomely, made to sign an iron clad NDA, and sent to live on an island in the South Pacific. 20 years from now the kid will emerge as a top D1 prospect. -
Small point, but as mentioned earlier, he punted for the Bills in preseason in August of 2022, so that’s NOT two years ago. More like one year and four months.

I agree that McD is one of the worst coaches in the league when it comes to smart timeout use and efficient clock management. Pretty sure he's demonstrated that frequently over the last 6 years, and it has been pointed out numerous times in this forum. One reason I can come up with is if the defense is exhausted, then a TO gives them a little time to rest up. Another reason may be he wants to see what formation the offense is in, so that he may properly set the defense, although after the TO, the opposing team may simply go to a new/different formation.

That's my opinion too, after watching the replay about 10x in a row, but....driving home from work today I flipped on the "Dan Patrick Show" on my car radio, and he & his cohorts were agreeing with the "fake slide" narrative. So I guess some national talking head "experts" are agreeing with the Squealers pathetic whining. Agreed. My idea would be to have 2-4 officials up in the press box (or in a production trailer), watching the game on HD monitors, and having the authority to buzz down to officials on the field, AT ANYTIME, in order to correct and/or even make a call that the on field refs miss.

Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
Bob Jones replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Looking at that photo/rendering, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that new stadium's seats and aisles would be covered in snow just as bad as Highmark was the other day (after a similar high wind/Lake effect snow event). -
Still curious as to how many Squealer fans were there? They usually travel very well, and it did seem like a lot of crowd noise when they scored their TDs/made a big play.
-
Sports sites are reporting that attendance was 70,040. Can this be true? So it was a full house? No empty seats at all? I find it hard to believe, but I defer to those of you who were there. What say you?
-
But, but, but, the Bills front office are professionals! They know what they are doing, and are way smarter than you! /s LOL
-
That's debatable, for sure. Re the Mannings: Payton carries about 75-80% of the charisma load, while Eli is just there because of nepotism. LOL
-
Same here. Not 15 mins before kickoff the stadium looked half empty and half full of snow. Then, like you said, at kickoff, snow was gone and stands looked full….I thought maybe CBS was fooling us with CG. LOL Anybody who was there care to explain where all the snow went?
-
Yep, and McClappy & company went totally opposite of what Romo said, and what anybody who has watched NFL football for any length of time knew they should do. Thankfully, the Bills were able to overcome McD's ineptitude, due to the greatness of JA and Shakir, and also the weakness of the Steelers, who really shouldn't have even been in the playoffs.
-
You keep saying 2 years ago, but he was with the Bills in late August of 2022, so ONE year and 4 1/2 months ago, NOT "almost 2 years ago."
-
Pretty sure punting in D1 college is very similar to punting in the NFL. Take the snap and punt the ball. Not rocket science. LOL

Wildcard round - Steelers Bills post game thread
Bob Jones replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm confused too. So you don't have to even recover a fumble if some part of your body is OOB and you touch it?! In this specific instance, if the Steeler wouldn't have touched the ball, could a Bill been OOB, just touched the ball and not secured it, and the Bills would have taken possession? Makes no sense. -
Wildcard round - Steelers Bills post game thread
Bob Jones replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
For those who went to the game: How in holy hell did y'all get the snow all cleared from the seats? Where did you put the snow? During the pregame show, not too long before kickoff, it looked like half the stadium's seats were covered in white, then at kickoff time, the stadium looked full and no white to be seen! Also, what percentage of the crowd were Squealers fans? -
Wild card round - Steelers @ Bills - 2nd half game thread
