  1. RE: his combine interview. II love this kid. Best "character" I can remember from a rookie — but he seems genuine as well and team centered and willing to put in the hard work. Will he be a good or great receiver? I don't know. Will I root for him and hope he's a huge success? Damn right.
  2. Bigger receivers don't fundamentally means transition to more running (though more effective blocking when we run helps). Perhaps Beane thinks bigger WRs can outmuscle smaller dbs, either to make the initial catch or for YAC. It would be folly to not prioritize the arm of the one of the best QBs of his generation.
  3. G**damn, Claypool's a bigger boy than I remembered: 6’ 4’’ 238 lbs If he gets his head on right maybe he realizes at 25 he still has a chance with Allen to make a something of his career.
  4. If Samuel can't play outside full time it was pretty dumb to give him that contract (as opposed to spending it on a true outside guy) when we have Shakir and Kincaid. I see where you and others are coming from. I'm hoping it works out because getting worked up about it is futile.
  5. So you don't believe Samuel and Coleman can start outside? I know Samuel has played a lot inside but he's played some outside and Keon is a rookie but it seems like that's the plan. At least, I don't know of any other way to read what Beane has done. We can't have a team full of slot specialists, can we?
  6. I like his vision going up the middle and he seems like he's got decent hands. But I'll take his "five foot eight" with a grain of salt; he looks super short. But with some muscle on him that's a lower center of gravity and perhaps harder to tackle. I like his counterpoint to Cook's speed running outside.
  7. Dirty player, dirty citizen.
  8. All Bills fans should be rooting for this kid (regardless of your or other pre-draft assessments of him) because he's a Buffalo Bill now. But, damn, this kid is SO likeable, charming, funny and easy to root for. I can't remember the last time, maybe Josh just because he was a high draft pick QB, where I wanted someone to succeed like this kid. RG3 made a comment about him sounding like a coach or analyst when Keon was discussing a corner he played with. Keon just shrugged and said something like, "Nah, I'm just a guy who loves football." Love this kid. Go Keon, go Bills!
  9. I trust Simms' opinion more than anyone's here. So this is encouraging...
  10. You could be right but I thought Brady might have a shot at being a good OC. The bigger problem, to me, may be the drafting itself — IF Coleman turns out to be a failed pick and if others we passed by turn out to be stars. The lack of higher picks directed at the O line too is a questionable aspect. For me, the biggest McD fail is the constant collapse of the defence in every playoffs. it seems built for the regular season but next to useless in the playoffs. I hope I'm wrong about playoff D and I hope Keon is a star. Not banking on either but I'm a Bills fan first, not a "see, I was right" person who gloats when my team fails to perform. But I am getting anxious about Josh's wasted prime and I would think most reasonable fans would agree we have not made the best effort to give hims the offense he needs to win a Super Bowl.
  11. Good. He's still important but I think he's slowing down and it's good to see them overpay for Kelce past his prime.
  12. The No. 30 overall pick of the 2021 draft, Rousseau is now set to make a projected $13.4 million guaranteed on the final year of his rookie contract. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/bills-to-pick-up-greg-rousseaus-fifth-year-option
  13. I like that we're a lot younger and have purged some cap bloat. I can't evaluate the draft till we see these guys play a lot of real games. Hope Coleman is a difference maker; IF he turns out to be a JAG this draft as a failed opportunity will help usher Beane out the door at some point. Not saying he is a JAG but IF... This draft was THE draft, with added capital from the Diggs trade, to get Josh a bona fide weapon.
  14. I am not certain but would hope that the McBeane leash is getting shorter. How long does a regime with a QB like Josh have to accomplish some real playoff success? I would hope that's not a 10-12 year trial period. I hope the Bills succeed this year, with Coleman and all the staff, but if they don't, and especially if other WRs we passed by have great success, I would hope Josh flexes his leverage and demands some kind of change. I think with an in the shadows owner who doesn't seem to know football deeply that the only person who can really make substantive change happen is a relatively young superstar QB. This year should be telling. But maybe we underperform in the playoffs (or God forbid, don't make them) and nothing changes. At a certain point, we need to go to a Super Bowl with Josh or move on from McBeane. When will either happen? The calendar pages are turning more quickly now...
  15. Won't do anything but the first pick: I waffled between Legette and Thomas. For this exercise I'll go Legette for my pick as there's no trade required, but I think Thomas with a trade-up would've been inspiring as well. I'm more than a little nervous that we didn't get an "explosive" guy in what was heralded as the best WR class in years. I don't think we'll need to wait two years necessarily; I bet by the end of this season we'll get a sense of what receivers are on track to be stars and who will be JAGs or busts. I certainly will root for Coleman, but I'm not super confident. But like almost everyone else, I'm just a bum on a fan board, not a a pro.
  16. I think the Chiefs still get Worthy without the Bills. They could have traded with someone else. and none of the the teams between us picked a speed receiver with Legette and Mitchell still available. It's a long-shot to think those teams really wanted Worthy too and did not trade up for him with the Bills picking and did not pick up another speed WR.
  17. I wasn't keen on a taking a back-up in the third (Oliver will be the 3-tech starter for years to come) but this reasoning helps me understand it. 40% of the players, and insurance against injury to one of our top defensive players makes sense there.
  18. That's actually a brilliant piece of logic. Kudos.
  19. We don't know what Keon Coleman will be. He could be the second coming of Eric Moulds; he could be Kelvin Benjamin (post-Bills trade). If he's good and has the potential to be a bona fide WR 2, at least, I think the draft will be viewed, at least from an offensive perspective, as decent to good. But if Coleman struggles and looks over-drafted and one of Worthy or Legette looks to be a star (neither is guaranteed but it's possible) then I honestly think Josh or his agent says WTF and has a talk with Pegula. We did not capitalize on the first half of Josh's prime; I believe management must show that things are different in the next year or two or they'll be gone. And I'm rooting for Coleman to be great. If he turns out to be a young Larry Fitzgerald or Moulds, I would love it. Not sure. Like most here I was underwhelmed with the Coleman pick but none of us are pro scouts. As with every draft, we won't know for a while.
  20. Wouldn't it be amazing if... we get Franklin and he turns out to be one of the best WRs in the class? After the combine crap-show, after all the drama and the trading down? Added bonus: Worthy becomes a track-star JAG in the NFL. Not saying either will happen but wouldn't it be sweet? And Beane is totally vindicated.
  21. OP, that trick question was very tricky!
  22. Was fine with trade to KC — you couldn't stop them taking Worthy unless you take a player who's not on your board there. But I was really sad missing out on Legette.
  23. I had the same message as the OP at the time we traded to KC. Then Carolina took Legette, the guy I wanted, and I drove immediately to my 24-hour Pitchforks R Us location. Seriously, you likely couldn't stop KC from getting Worthy unless you pick him yourself and deviate from your draft board. Deviating from your draft board to try to stop your rival is nuts. If we would've done than, what if they would have taken Legette or Mitchell? What if Worthy busts but Legette or Mitchell doesn't? You can't do that. You must stick to your board. But... it was brought up on WGR this morning: Beane's ability to draft WRs is in question. When so many other teams took guys in the first and Beane trades out, he's seeing guys vastly different from many other teams, including the champs. That's not reassuring. Beane could still be right, but he's positioning himself to be smarter than many other teams here and needs to vindicate himself with a good WR pick sometime soon. My other concern: what is Josh thinking? That question is related to who we pick at WR. If we do not take a WR in the second in a class lauded as the best in years I honestly fear that will piss off Josh significantly. But that hasn't happened... yet.
