  1. I was impressed with Tyson Bagent. I'd be fine if the Bills brought in either guy after cutdowns.
  2. So you're saying that it doesn't matter who his backup is. Got it.
  3. So doesn't your lack of faith in Trubisky justify the opinion that the Bills need to upgrade that position? In the scenario of a short term injury to Josh, isn't it important to try to keep the season afloat with a better backup?
  4. Recent opinion ranking of NFL backup QBs: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-backup-qb-rankings/ As a teaser... 1) Justin Fields 2) Jimmy Garroppolo 3) Jameis Winston 4) Jake Browning 5) Joe Flacco 6) Gardner Minshew 7) Andy Dalton 8 Tyrod Taylor 9) Joshua Dobbs
  5. Likely sees the holes better. The counter to that is that "patience" is also considered a good running back trait. Our strengths are also our weaknesses. The story is that the Bills O-line played well and all the running backs (including Evans and Gore) looked good. It was a predictable performance by the blockers after we and everyone else roasted them after the Bears game. The one component the Bills still lack is a big power back. I think so... he and Chrissie Hynde had a daughter together, right?
  6. If we bring in a QB is should be a PROVEN backup, not someone who has never experienced any success in the NFL. What would be negligent is if Beane has not spoken with his agent and asked: 1) How much does Ryan want? 2) What sort of role is he interested in? I'm pretty sure that conversation has taken place. I'm pretty sure Beane can't put a gun to Tannehill's head and force him to come in for a... tryout. Thank you for a good post that adds value. I'll give you that he has a higher ceiling than Trubisky. Saying he would be a major upgrade is pure speculation. There's no real basis for this claim, is there? It's not black and white. The grey is if Josh misses 4 games and what the teams record is after those 4 games and what impact that has in the standings and playoff seeding.
  7. Man, you guys are slipping... https://www.nfl.com/prospects/deon-cain/32004341-4912-9929-9156-543135057eaa
  8. To you first point I believe that the players would ask for a higher percentage of revenues before any improvement in working conditions. To your second point I believe that Pegula went with the grass field as a concession to placate those who wanted a domed stadium. On both counts, JMO.
  9. Josh Allen: 2020 Red Zone Passing: 5th https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2020/redzone-passing.htm 2021 Red Zone Passing: 3rd https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2021/redzone-passing.htm 2022 Red Zone Passing: 2nd https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2022/redzone-passing.htm 2023 Red Zone Passing: 4th https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2023/redzone-passing.htm Anyone want to look up team red zone performance? I've already wasted 5 minutes tamping down this stupid topic.
  10. Not to mention how excited a fan base is for their prize rookie QB... and then to suddenly be deprived of watching him develop.
  11. And you didn't? Are you not human??? Now you guys are just being silly.
  12. Maybe hire Urban Meyer to be our placekicking consultant?
  13. I have the answer to the Bills backup QB problem in two words... Chad Kelly The kid from Delaware? I didn't cry when I watched that movie.
  14. Is this a joke? I would like to respond politely and appropriately.
  15. Jimmy? Is that you?
  16. Granted he was a #1 receiver but the DeAndre Hopkins thread was 282 pages. The Odell Beckham Jr was 137 pages. Zach Ertz, 63 pages.
  17. "While I do believe that high stakes pro sports is pretty close to a meritocracy, guys that are drafted higher are more heavily invested in as far as money, emotions, egos of the decision makers, etc." "So a part of success is a self-fulfilling prophecy... based on the politics of draft position."
  18. I said stats can be misleading, not that they are meaningless. Also I didn't judge Cook as a player so I'm certainly not saying that he's only as good or worse than Singletary. Cook's certainly much more explosive and I imagine that accounts for the statistical differences you pointed out.
  19. Before this signing he was up to $7.42 million in career earnings. Over his career he's thrown 160 passes in the regular season. That's $46,363 per pass attempt.
  20. He owns a bunch of delis in lower Manhattan... below Canal Street. To the bolded, not in the modern era but they do have a HOF QB. To the bolded all 5 seem to be off to really impressive starts. Excellent posts. Having played organized sports I've seen one determinant of success that hasn't been mentioned yet... I'll call it politics... particularly as it relates to draft position. While I do believe that high stakes pro sports is pretty close to a meritocracy, guys that are drafted higher are more heavily inested in as far as money, emotions, egos of the decision makers, etc. Therefore these chosen few have a longer leash, more doubling-down in investment, and more time and opportunities to fulfill their promise. If you're drafted higher you're more likely to get 2nd and 3rd chances. For QBs trying to adjust to the speed of the pro game that's a big advantage. There are many players at all levels of sports that are not given (or know they won't be given) the same opportunity and choose to walk away. So a part of success is a self-fulfilling prophecy... based on the politics of draft position. Kind of like the Tommy DeVito thing with the Giants.
  21. If he "officially requests a trade" I guess 21 pages is the over/under.
  22. Not saying how good Cook is/isn't but these are two good points. Josh is a great QB and virtually everyone on the team benefits statistically by playing with him... and stats can be misleading.
