  1. Has Von Miller pronounced anything yet? Even Thomas the Train. Bills Receivers Coach Adam Henry: "Alright Mike. If you can beat this guy in a footrace (motions at Keon Coleman), we'll bring you to camp as a body... no guarantees."
  2. You're right about me declaring Gruden a bad person. I abandoned my usual practice which is to not judge others because we can never know the entirety of one's actions and without knowing this, it is impossible to know a person's true nature. Also, I believe that there are ambiguous people who even if you did have knowledge of the entirety of their actions, would be difficult to classify as either good or bad. So I should not have judged Gruden. I can only guess as to his character.
  3. It's official, I have no sympathy for Jon Gruden. It's an interesting situation. He's 60 years old and sitting on many millions of dollars. Theoretically he never has to work another day in his life but on the other hand, what're you gonna do with yourself for the next 20 years or so? I actually know someone who retired from Wall Street when he was 35 years old... he made at least tens of millions and possibly close to $100 million. He golfed and learned the French language and then went back to work because he was bored and really didn't know what else to do with his life.
  4. I absolutely agree that Gruden was a pawn in a much larger game. Too bad he was both stupid and a bad person simultaneously. Can you imagine shyttinng away $100 million because you thought it was a good use of time to write offensive emails?
  5. I agree that the defender should be looking for the ball the moment he believes that it's airborne... and not trying read the receivers eyes. I disagree that the play you describe is unfair towards the defender. I blame the defender in these situations for being unaware that the ball is underthrown.
  6. I never played organized football so my opinion is near worthless. That said, a DB knows the QB only has a few seconds to make his read and get the ball out. Because of that it seems to me that on downfield throws, once the DB feels comfortable with the route direction and the play intention that he should be looking for the ball BECAUSE if he can track the ball (like a centerfielder) it becomes much less relevant where the receiver actually is. The CB is now just another receiver looking to make a play on an airborne ball. In other words the sooner he sees it the better chance he has of catching it. Put differently on downfield throws, after about 2 seconds on average, a CB should be turning around to see where the ball is so he actually has a chance to make a play on it... or to see if the play has degenerated into a plaster drill. JMO. I agree with the bolded. As far as your underthrown ball argument, I would counter that if the CB knows the ball is airborne, then he should be locating it to 1) make a play on the ball and 2) avoid a penalty. There are countless plays where the defender could have located the ball but refused to, instead trying to read the receivers eyes or body. I never agreed with that technique. By "trying to read the WRs cues" you're waiting too long and not giving yourself enough time to locate the ball... and making yourself more likely to get called for a penalty. Again, JMO.
  7. Maybe someone who coaches defense can shed some light on this for me. Are DBs coached NOT to look back for the ball? Because it seems to me that 99% of the time they fixate on the receiver and make zero attempt to locate and track the ball. Then when the ball is underthrown they clumsily run into the receiver and get called for DPI. Why would a DB willfully ignore where the ball is, therefore disqualifying themselves from being able to intercept it, and at the same time making it more likely that they'll get a DPI penalty?
  8. Maybe that's you and your friends? I'm a red-blooded American male but I'm not a pig, nor a mysognist, nor a racist so you'd be wrong about me and my friends. You're right about everything you wrote above. Gruden signed a 10 year, $100 million dollar contract. He is an arrogant dirt bag and an idiot. He didn't even have the common sense to protect his own interests. I wonder how his wife and family feel about him. In Gruden's case, 7 years of worst moments.
  9. Yes, a Gruden email stated exactly the above.

  11. I'm aware there's a Von Miller thread going on but this topic is about what is now called The Sack Summit and was formerly called the Pass Rush Summit. Apparently it took place this past weekend in Las Vegas. The following link is behind a paywall: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5604628/2024/07/01/sack-summit-von-miller-cam-jordan-maxx-crosby/ Some points for discussion: Von Miller started the Summit in 2017. He is in the process of passing the torch to Cam Jordan and Max Crosby. Warren Sapp is also a contributor in the expert category. Former Bucs GM Mark Dominik does a presentation on financial literacy. Past attendees include Micah Parsons, Aaron Donald, Khalil Mack, Chandler Jones, Arik Armstead, Myles Garrett, Shaq Barrett, Jeffery Simmons, Calais Campbell, DeForest Buckner, DeMarcus Ware, Bobby Wagner, Justin Houston, Dee Ford, Bradley Chubb and current and past Bills Greg Rousseau, AJ Epenesa and Boogie Basham. Attendees this year included DeMarcus Walker (Bears), Myles Garrett (Browns), Ogbo Okoronkwo (Browns), Calijah Kancey (Buccaneers), BJ Ojulari (Cardinals), Darius Robinson (Cardinals), Kwity Paye (Colts), Laiatu Latu (Colts), Dayo Odeyingbo (Colts), Daron Payne (Commanders), Julian Okwara (Eagles), Nolan Smith (Eagles), Brian Burns (Giants), Boogie Basham (Giants), the other Josh Allen (Jaguars), Travon Walker (Jaguars), Bryce Huff (Jets), Jermaine Johnson (Jets), James Houston (Lions), Marcus Davenport (Lions), Preston Smith (Packers), Matthew Judon (Patriots), Tyree Wilson (Raiders), Malcolm Koonce (Raiders), Janarius Robinson (Raiders), Braden Fiske (Rams), Carl Granderson (Saints), Dallas Turner (Vikings), and Jaquelin Roy (Vikings). Confirmed attending for the Bills were Greg Rousseau, AJ Epenesa, Ed Oliver and DaQuan Jones. The Sack Summit has spawned copycat position conferences such as Tight End U and OL Masterminds. There were reportedly 60 attendees last weekend. I've listed 37 and don't know the identity of the other 23 other than that there were 4 Las Vegas Raiders in attendance beyond the 4 already listed above. I am wondering if Bills 5th rounder Javon Solomon attended.
  12. What an incredible talent. Such a sad story.
  13. And a 3rd Super Bowl win. We're still talking about football, right? Seriously, it's Coleman for me too. I wasn't a fan of the pick but I'm hoping to br wrong.
  14. I appreciate your last response and maybe I didn't understand all of it but it seems like you still haven't answered the question: Did the professor conclude that the Patriots "had not cheated" or that they "had not intended on cheating?" Because if they intended on cheating it's a moot point to me whether or not they were successful in doing so. The intent is what speaks to the morals and ethics of the situation.
  15. To the bolded... the professor concluded that the Patriots "had not cheated" or that they "had not intended on cheating?" I don't think I have to explain the difference. Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like the Connor McGovern title was changed twice by the Mods... if that's the case why can't the Mods simply change the topic title in this case??? Especially when the OP has been delinquent in housekeeping their own topic???
  16. Does this make you jealous and if so, in what specific way? No kidding. The "Close your eyes McDermott haters…he’s a top 10 HC" topic is up to 27 pages and the "I'm really starting to love this WR room. We quietly got better" topic is up to 25 pages... I haven't even clicked on either because I already know who is saying what, what arguments are being made and who's got their panties in a bunch. Javon Solomon becomes the best homegrown pass rusher since the Bills drafted Bruce Smith in 1985.
  17. One thing that hasn't been mentioned and should be is that Torrence had an insanely low number of sacks and pressures allowed as well as penalties during his time at Florida. Playing in the SEC he played at a very high and mistake-free level. I have a hard time believing that he won't continue to ascend as an elite player.
  18. Not sure if La'el Collins has come up in this discussion but he's a guy who could make a positive impact on the O-line from a depth perspective. This guy was an upper-echelon NFL player before his injury 2 years ago.
  19. I wonder what percentage of male sorn ptars actually enjoy their jobs.
  20. I'm not disputing your observation but what is it based on?
  21. With regard to the new kickoff rules, there's no "tape" to watch and no other leagues using remotely similar rules. Kickoffs are a great and vast unknown. People are imagining and hypothesizing about what they'll look like but no one actually knows. I agree with those who see potential for Hardy as a nickel back. But I also agree that he could be an excellent returner. Aside from specialists (long snapper, kicker, punter, returns) there have been players as pointed out earlier but if you're confining it to this year, I think just Mack Hollins. As has been pointed out upthread, with the cap crunch the luxury of allocating a high percentage of cap space to special teams is gone for the moment. It'll be interesting to see how much McBeane allocate in future years or if they've modified their cap allocations permanently.
  22. Or to default to his endearing defense mechanism, "Go Bills!" I agree with @Beck Water that Aaron Rodgers is fundamentally an intelligent person. My theory on the stupid things Rodgers says and does is that (like most high-profile celebrities) he's probably surrounded by "yes men" who avoid contesting his views and probably reinforce them. Essentially he lives in an echo chamber which insulates him from a rigorous examination of his opinions. Lacking any checks and balances, he's prone to offering his half-baked opinions for public consumption.
  23. @Weatherman called him a 1st round draft prospect... not a first rounder. So your sharpshooting is off the mark. As far as my comment about "matter of degree" which you seem to be trying to sharpshoot as well... are you saying that the criticism of the Coleman pick isn't more than normal for the team's first draft pick? Because that's what I'm saying. That's certainly what I'm hoping for. But I'm not pretending to know how it'll all turn out.
  24. It's a matter of degree. The negativity surrounding this pick is higher than normal... perhaps even Josh Allen level.
