Von Released, Frees Up $8.4M Cap Space
Sierra Foothills replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
Whether you think so or not, Von being released on $8.4 million bail is pretty big news. -
Taylor Rapp underrated? Espn thinks so!

It's on TwoBillsDrive, not the Stadium Wall.

When you watch Hawes play he's not like any other TE who played for the Bills that I can remember. Lee Smith was essentially a tackle playing tight end. He must have been around 300 lbs. Hawes is standard-sized but he hits people at a high rate of speed. In that regard he's more similar to Sam Gash than anyone else He's gonna be deadly on wham blocks... he lights people up.

In his career Baker's proved both that you're never as good and you're never as bad as people say you are... sometimes at the same time. I also agree that lots of people are feeling guilty about brandishing pitchforks at him on his way out of Cleveland. The hate was really over the top. The shoulder injury coincided with when he was doing some pretty funny commercials for Progressive Insurance but the whole world decided he needed to STFU and lay low, ignoring that the commercials had already been shot and bought and that Baker had no control over them.

You asked, and they listened… (Bills on Hallmark)
Sierra Foothills replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall
You understand it's going to be wholesome... Because of his unconditionally positive outlook, I'll be alright with this. He's almost so wholesome as to be creepy... So like... buckskin and rawhide? Also, B sound techs and B cinematographers and B costume suppliers... but kudos still! What are you saying dude? I'm pretty sure there won't be any yellow snow or road salt in sight... pure as the driven snow... I'm not easily manipulated and in fact I look for reasons not to watch stuff... but in this case I'll go willingly. This is one of the most hysterically funny things I've ever read... why are you posting on a message board??? Almost perfect... but you forgot to insert Zubaz into the "narrative." I think there's a topic about that... So then you went looking for an endodontist? Just out of curiosity, what are you holding out for? This is one of the wittiest and most entertaining topics I can remember. I'm not feeling snark. Wow. If true that's amazing. I also have doubts that he'll be able to play himself. -
Correct me if I'm wrong but we haven't really talked about the absence of Zay Jones?

Like many/most I prefer the flats... but the Missus prefers the flats so I get the drums.

What is this show in Netflix - Sirens?

Funny comment and also, probably true. Netflix is chasing a few more standalone NFL games to add to the two that they already televise on Christmas. -
Von Released, Frees Up $8.4M Cap Space
Sierra Foothills replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
I saw the topic listing and for various reasons that all can figure out, it processed in my head as "Von Released, Freed as $8.4M Bail Paid" Minimally I need new reading glasses... -
He turned 21 on May 2nd... 3 weeks ago today.

Owners approve a change to the onside kick rule
Sierra Foothills replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Cheerleaders between every play. They should have a percussion section and every time an onside kick is attempted, there is a multi-instrument drum roll before the ball is put into play. -
As big as any storyline in the buildup to the game will be Mark Andrews in his first game since the lost fumble and dropped 2 point conversion. There's no question in my mind that the Ravens will want to help Andrews redeem himself.

The Buffalo tie-in appears to be episode 3. -
To the bolded, I couldn't agree more. Bottom line, in this day and age I think organizations that are afraid of and try to control distractions will (all things being equal) be less successful than organizations which accept and embrace those distractions. The same "noise" can be framed as a negative or a positive. If the Bills organization messages to the players that Hard Knocks is an unwelcome intrusion and a distraction, there very well could be an adverse effect. If on the other hand they approach it with a positive attitude ("the world loves us and is interested in us... when you look good you feel good... let's show them what we're all about") then it can be used as a positive motivator. The Bills are high-visibility professionals. They should be excited and invigorated for this opportunity. The equivalent of shutting the door, drawing the blinds, and taking the phone off the hook has never been a successful strategy.

Fixed it for ya... Regarding the clapping, there are 27 bones in the human hand. It's not hard to believe that at any given time McDermott has a handful of micro-fractures. Dude must have a high pain threshold because he's like the Energizer Bunny of hand clapping.

That's so cool that you have the diary still in your family history. I guess if that's the worst that happened they did okay.

I have the sad duty to report that while the wings at the Anchor Bar in Myrtle Beach are excellent, they only serve celery, and not carrots with the bleu cheese. Of all places...
-
Those WERE the days... the younger ones here should have seen Lake Erie back in the day...
-
I do... and while Buffalonians possess the skill to balance a chunk of bleu cheese on a carrot, the cross-sectional shape of a celery stick is perfectly designed to harvest those flavor bombs from the dressing.

I appreciate @Gugny's attempt to bring some statistical context to it but the records of the teams after appearing on Hard Knocks are irrelevant because the context is what the expectations for that team were. The quick and dirty (and arguably best) way to measure the impact of appearing on the show would be to know what the Vegas over/under for wins was for that team compared to their final record. Also btw, in 14 pages and counting, no one has come remotely close to providing conclusive data that appearing on the show has a generally adverse effect on the subject teams' season. Zero upside? I suppose anything short of a Super Bowl victory will be enough for people agreeing with you to say "I told you so." However Vegas has the Bills wins over/under at 11.5 for the upcoming season. To me if they exceed that win total, there was no adverse effects from appearing on the show. Thank you very much. I'm glad someone else sees it the same way.

Maybe it's because I work with lots of young guys in construction but this is a real likable group. Of course you don't really know the true nature of an individual but I get a great vibe from watching these guys and you can see the kind of individuals that McBeane are looking for. Without getting into the back story, I see Max Hairston and I believe he's a good person. JMO.

Measurables might indicate that but the video doesn't.
