  1. Both Jayden Daniels and Jordan Love made Mike Sando's QB tier 2: "A Tier 2 quarterback can carry his team sometimes but not as consistently. He can handle pure-passing situations in doses and/or possesses other dimensions that are special enough to elevate him above Tier 3. He has a hole or two in his game." I'm watching these guys and again thanking the almighty powers that Josh Allen is our quarterback.
  2. Love is a many-splendored thing. It's not the size of the fight in the dog... wait... Anyways something about a dog.
  3. The spread: Green Bay -3 The moneyline: Washington +150 Green Bay -180 Over/Under: 48.5 Consensus Straight-up: Green Bay 88%
  4. I did not know this... thanks for the context.
  5. Thank you for this Virgil. You're an excellent poster and a great role model here. My thoughts on the defensive debate: There are 6 defensive rookies and 5 defensive free agents that are trying to assimilate. There's been modifications to the defensive coaching staff. IF there's going to be improvement, it won't be immediate. It's more likely to be a process that plays out over the season. I agree that the Ravens are a great offense AND a bad matchup for the Bills D. I agree that Rapp and Bernard were possibly the two worst defenders on the field. Posters here are fond of thinking of Daquan Jones as a 1T but he really isn't. He's a big guy who can play that role and is certainly our best approximation of a 1T but he's really an athletic, penetrating big guy... not that different from Jordan Phillips. I agree with the misgivings about giving Bernard the extension. That said, he tends to exemplify the weaknesses on this defense and yet, also their never-say-die attitude. He has an obvious knack for making big plays as shown in the last two games against the Ravens (remember it was he, who recovered the Henry fumble). On Bishop's extremely late blitz, (regardless of coaching) he was in no-man's land and the only chance of him making any impact on that play would have been to try to find a useful space to position himself in the defensive backfield. I would say that whatever coaching he has received, a great player knows when to break the rules and how to react to unforeseen circumstances. This season is clearly a fan referendum on the competency of the defensive coaching. I think Babich is on the hot seat.
  6. I attended SUNY schools and Long Islanders were everywhere... often heard before seen. The ones from Nassau County are particularly obnoxious. Culturally they're confused in that they've become so self-parodic that they don't even know how to act... they're like caricatures lampooning as stereotypes... self-perpetuating satires... they're mockeries of real New Yorkers in the same way that Orcs are bastardizations of Elves. 😆 I'm exaggerating a bit of course... one of my dearest friends is a Nassau County Long Islander.
  7. I understand he still practices catching punts... he works out with the local high school team.
  8. Yes, El Cerrito, CA which isn't too far from me. The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta is an interesting place... When I lived in WNY I used to say that some parts of North Collins aren't that different than some parts of North Carolina.
  9. 🎵 "I wanna know... have they ever been a rival... comin' down Sun-day..." 🎵 I'm not gonna debate you but do you consider CCR to be Southern Rock?
  10. Count me among those who feel his hand/glove touched and that the official was in perfect position. You'll notice too that the Ravens didn't protest. At 1:37:40: I was thinking more Galveston. You could see immediately that it was a bad spot and that the spotting official was out of position... well behind the play. You could also see that McDermott didn't like the spot but things were happening quickly because the Bills were in a hurry-up/quick snap mode and in the moment he chose not to challenge. NFL Replay Assist is permitted to review spots but didn't... again I think because of the frantic-ness of the moment. At 1:31:35: Yes, I pointed out in the game thread that former Referee John Parry was hired by the Bills last year in part to assist with challenges. Collinsworth did comment on the throw placement at 1:54:00:
  11. I'm really hoping he puts his signature on this defense. I feel exactly the opposite. Going into week one, I thought we'd lose to Baltimore because of all the new parts but I expect that with the addition of 6 defensive rookies (don't forget Dorian Strong) and 7 veteran free agents that the defense will gel and be a strong unit by season's end. I believe the team will receive a good return on their heavy investments.
  12. During the New York Sack Exchange days (early 1980s) the Jets felt like a bit of a rival.
  13. John Fogerty should sing a song about this.
  14. That would mean that Scott was only 2 years old during the Summer of Love... which would explain a lot!
  15. Here's to @SDS enjoying many more years of robust spleenal function!!!
  16. Actually, I was the one who started the other thread and said the bolded above. Somehow you were able to hack into the system and supersede my post so that you could take credit for my idea. I've already notified @Simon... you can expect to be hearing from him. For shame... it would be deserving for you to be afflicted with poor spleenal health.
  17. I'm not sure I agree Bill. Even when you lump pelvic discomfort with all of the groin injuries, it seems like spleen injuries still have the edge. JMO.
  18. Because the Bills are incompetent. Which raises the question as to whether there are any Ohioans playing Australian Rules Football.
  19. Why? Is there something wrong with Prater's pelvis?
  20. Yes, last year at Georgia Tech he had 16 receptions on 19 targets (84% catch percentage) for 195 yards (12.19 ypc). Low volume but those are good numbers.
  21. I do this with great reluctance because I don't want to hijack the thread... but it wasn't his fault that he didn't win a playoff game. The team around him wasn't very good. In Simpson's loss to the dynastic 1974 Pittsburgh Steelers, he ran the ball 15 times for 49 yards and added 37 yards and a TD on 3 receptions. In the Steelers' next two playoff games including the Super Bowl, the Raiders and the Vikings ran the ball 42 times for only 46 yards against the Steel Curtain.
  22. Where do we find out how much our shares are worth? Damn! Beat me to it!!!
  23. That makes him 111 years older than Tremaine Edmunds!
