  1. I'll be very surprised if he plays so much as a single down as a safety in the NFL. Yes he does. His weight is non-issue to me.
  2. A 5 page thread on a message board convinces me of nothing. If it was in North Collins about the high school football team maybe, but not an NFL message board. That doesn't even move the needle as they say. Just a bunch of bored NFL fans talking about very little... as happens here every day.
  3. To the highlighted regarding John Elway, Brandon Beane just completed his 5th draft with the Bills. In those drafts he's selected 39 players. Statistically this would be considered a small sample size... not enough to have much statistical validity. Beyond the small sample size there's also an element of luck as it applies to good and bad offseasons. There's no debating that all clubs have hits and misses. NFL GMs have a small window in which to establish themselves. That means it's imperative that they have near-immediate success. The problem is that player personnel success is not predictable or proportional... some offseasons are epic and others are forgettable. With bad luck you might start your tenure with no appreciable improvement and you'll get fired. In other cases if you had 2-3 solid offseasons at the front end of your tenure, it'ill probably buy you some goodwill when the pendulum of luck swings the other way... as in the case of Elway. My point is that although many perceive the success and failure of GMs as fairly clear cut, there's a lot of luck involved. Most NFL GMs are fired based on short term results (small sample size) which are not necessarily a reflection of their competencies. In many cases they just weren't afforded enough time. As it applies to Beane, his most recent drafts have come under some criticism but employing the same systems and methodology (trusting the process), there's no telling when he might have a draft for the ages. And this is true for most GMs because none of them are infallible and many of them are simply not given a fair chance, especially those that get off to a slow start.
  4. To me, regardless of whether it comes from the player or the agent, the scrubbing of the social media account is a meaningless and empty protest. I don't think it really applies much pressure to the club because it's become so commonplace. And I'm one who agrees that it's childish. No one bats an eye anymore when it happens. Can you imagine being the Jets or their fans? They swung and missed on Sam Darnold (3rd overall in 2018) and then Zach Wilson (2nd overall in 2021). No wonder they went the trade route this time. The Jets won the Joe Namath Super Bowl but have almost nothing to show in their history aside from that... The New York Sack Exchange? While we're still without a Super Bowl we do have a higher all-time winning percentage as well as leading the all-time series between the teams. And yes, I detest the New York Jets too... almost at the same level as my hatred for the Patriots and the Dolphins.
  5. It was 6 years ago but I've had nothing but bad luck since that glorious victory in the 2016 Big Bowl. The Ground Chuck is gonna be kicking ass and taking names in 2023!!!
  6. It's NOT a big deal. WHO said it was a BIG deal anyways? WHY does everyone have to blow EVERYTHING out of proportion... I JUST SAID IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL!!! Peaches and Herb are great but you should try it the other way around... the Herb and THEN the Peaches... that's really great.
  7. Yeah but doesn't Josh answer "Yes" in response to the "Mailman?" comment or was that my imagination?
  8. That's because you're a chicken.
  9. There's some contentiousness on the board about the degree if any that Von Miller has had on this offseason's roster additions. It could just be coincidence but so far the Bills have signed 4 former Von Miller teammates, David Edwards, Taylor Rapp, Travin Howard, and Shane Ray.
  10. Yes it's on Dorsey and Josh to make it all work. Every one of your bullet points assumes the wost case. Yes, the biggest piece missing on the O-line is a proven swing tackle but those aren't growing on trees.
  11. It's really hard to say who's at fault for Josh ignoring the layups and going for 3 pointers. There's one theory that his elbow injury was more painful when throwing short. There's another theory that Daboll was more persuasive than Dorsey in convincing Josh to take the layups. At any rate, the Bills offense definitely needs to take the sure gains at a higher percentage than they did last year, IMO.
  12. I don't see why Dorian Williams can't play at the level of Tremaine Edmunds once he gets some experience under his belt. We'll see.
  13. I don't know if there's a single NFL GM who participates on social media but I would say that Beane is actually fairly chatty as GMs go. I sometimes think to myself that he's a bit too forthcoming.
  14. Yes, it'll really be a matter of degree. I'm guessing he's not gonna get much work on the left side... less cross training than the other guards I think.
  15. The Bills have already had a Lumpkin... https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/L/LumpJo20.htm
  16. The biggest takeaway for me was that O'Cyrus Torrence got work at both guard positions. Not that I'm surprised because all NFL teams value positional versatility and in fact require it due to the number of O-linemen who typically dress each week. That said, I was wondering if the Bills would glue him to the right side just to enhance his proficiency at that spot... to accelerate his development into an opening day starter.
  17. Regardless of stats, Gates seems like an odd person to come up in discussion as a comparable because stylistically he and Kincaid seem very different to me. Changing gears, last week The Athletic had more discussion on Kincaid: “I like Kincaid to Buffalo,” an exec said. “He was clearly the No. 1 tight end for us. You put him in that offense, then you take the guard in the second round. That is scary for a top-five offense to reload and potentially get better. I like what they did.” The Athletic’s Randy Mueller (former New Orleans GM) ranked Kincaid as the 10th-best prospect in this draft and his favorite overall evaluation. “Getting the player is one thing, deploying him is another,” another exec said. “When you start talking about the contenders, Buffalo is not necessarily going the other way, but they do rely too much on their quarterback. The key is going to be how well their coordinator is able to use two tight ends. You don’t see every coordinator do that well.” Paywall and apologies if this was already posted: https://theathletic.com/4490198/2023/05/05/nfl-draft-class-analysis-execs-unfiltered/
