Rich Stadium Concession Prices circa 1975
Sierra Foothills replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall
Here's an article on the biggest trend in sports concessions in decades... a shift away from the monopolized predatory price-gouging that had become the norm. Fan-friendly pricing: https://www.yahoo.com/now/cheap-beer-good-press-falcons-fan-friendly-pricing-win-win-191626117.html -
Could OJ Howard be on the trade block?
Sierra Foothills replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
What Howard showed yesterday was a big body that was an effective blocker and a big target in the red zone. The Bills will likely use him in goal-line and short yardage situations. -

Remember the days when the smoking and non-smoking sections in restaurants was often an imaginary line? Back then being in "non-smoking" didn't mean that you weren't going to breathe cigarette smoke. -

Wow, 70 cents for a pack of cigarettes? As my buddy says, "They're so cheap you can't afford not to smoke em." To the subject, I believe the original concessions contract went to Delaware North Sportservice. 🤢 Yes it's pricier now but the world of sports concessions is much better than it was then. Most new facilities have a wide array of options and don't award the entire contract to a mediocre monopoly like they did back when the stadium opened. -
Yes the writing is generally excellent and The Athletic employs many of the writers who became unemployed during the now decades-long contraction of the newspaper business. It's been a landing spot for many who were priced out of their previous jobs due to career longevity... and replaced which cheaper and poorer writers (I won't mention any names).

Asking Josh about his golf game during a sideline interview left me speechless. Of course Josh being Josh, he let her off the hook. -

It looks like OJ Howard is a pretty good blocker too. I'd be happy if he's traded or if he stays. In McBeane I trust. -
I can't vouch for their customer service but I appreciate all the great writing and coverage they offer. I follow several sports teams so The Athletic is worth it for me though. It was sad when they took Matthew Fairburn off the Bills beat though they still have Joe Buscaglia and Tim Graham contributing.

I agree about the Athletic. I love Ford's response... restraint is an undervalued commodity in our world. The Athletic is definitely more for people who like to read than to watch talking heads.

Bills -Broncos Post Game Thread Week 2 Preseason

Yes Tasker appeared to be more clear-headed than last week but Cynthia Frelund is unwatchable IMO. I cringe at the stupidity of every question that leaves her mouth. It got to where I was muting the interviews. The game was a clear illustration of how good Hyde and Poyer are and how big the dropoff is behind them. I understand the Bills are a passing offense and it doesn't make sense take the ball out of Josh's hand but the Bills are gonna run a lot more than last year... especially when they have the lead. Shakir is ridiculously pro-ready. I'm struggling to remember a WR who looked so polished in his first two preseason games. It looks like he'll do a solid job on punt returns too... he seems confident and sure-handed fielding them. I don't necessarily disagree with your conclusion but if you were born in 1987 you have no basis for it. Also, maybe Duke wanted to win a Super Bowl. Those are the gloves Elam wears in practice to make sure he dooesn't get too "grabby." Yes, 100%. Waterford... is that where Troyer Farms is based? On a different subject, it's too bad so much of Blackshear's game is redundant to James Cook's... -
OT: Belichick says that Mac's improvement is "dramatic"
Sierra Foothills replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
If Tannenbaum is right about this, it'll be a nice Christmas gift for Patriots fans. -
And before that Bills Head Coach Wade Phillips employed Chris Watson as a "Punt Catcher." It's sad that the younger members of the community have such disdain for the history and knowledge that the older members possess. A lot of our members here should read more (particularly from people like yourself) and post less. They might learn a thing or two.

There is the blue medical tent though... I am not insecure and I don't appreciate you implicating me like that in front of the others. I disagree about Brees being a System QB. He made the Pro Bowl in San Diego where his Head Coach was Marty Schottenheimer and his Offensive Coordinator was "the great" Cam Cameron. He lost his job because the Chargers drafted Philip Rivers. He made the Pro Bowl as a Charger and I recall being in the stadium when he surgically destroyed a Bills defense that featured Sam Adams, Takeo Spikes, London Fletcher, Nate Clements, Terrence McGee, Aaron Schobel, Lawyer Milloy, etc. In his prime Brees could sling the ball with accuracy in a way few QBs can. His ball placement was superb and his velocity transcended his stature. JMO. -
They did. You can always count on the one week of preseason overreactions. Every year without fail. "Keenum replaced injured Vikings starter Sam Bradford in 2017 and went 12-4, including the playoffs. He completed 66.4 percent of his throws for 4,136 yards and 24 TDs with 10 interceptions."

On the one hand that much money would get you only about a 2000-2500 square foot house in the Bay Area. But the property taxes here would be about 1/3rd of what they are for the Beasley property. The property taxes on that Beasley property are about $40K/year. California's not cheap but that's insane.

Okay, they had the Bills 19th at DTs? If so that's the one that really seems off. Also no ratings for kickers and punters?

Like so many discussions these days, you're reducing it to a binary equation which it is not. There's a vast range between playing every snap and not playing at all. McDermott is using his vast expertise and experience to make sure he doesn't reach the point of diminishing returns with Josh's snaps. He's going to try to hit the sweet spot. It's a calculated risk where he's going for the obvious benefits but also trying to minimize exposure.
