  1. Relevant to this conversation, the Eagles also signed free agent pass rusher Za'Darius Smith yesterday. Smith has 69 career sacks in 10 seasons and had 4 sacks in 8 games last year.
  2. No one is debating your right to do what you want.
  3. That question was asked on page 1: It was then answered 4 times in 3 pages:
  4. The exception is not the rule. I live in California so going to the game was not an option. I was very proud of our family members who stayed in the stadium until the end... and got to go onto the field and celebrate behind the NBC set. The biggest deficit was 15 points and Josh Allen is the quarterback of the Buffalo Bills. If the deficit grew to 17 points (more than 2 TDs and 2 2-point conversions), or if the QB was anyone other than Josh Allen I would have given up hope too.
  5. Love this movie and William Zabka has had an interesting career playing hate-able characters.
  6. For the click averse, the Tweet is simply "Funny how life work (sic)" and some praying hands.
  7. Josh won this game in spite of the coaching staff. If this franchise doesn't deliver Josh a Super Bowl win, I will never forgive them for failing him. The way I saw it was that the Bills play calling put the handcuffs on Josh and he couldn't get into a rhythm. I was very unhappy with the playcalling. As time started to become a factor the Bills were forced to throw and at first Josh was just extending plays and making miraculous throws. This seemed to energize the entire offense. By the 4th quarter he was definitely in rhythm and delivering the ball on time and accurately. This guy is an elite thrower and the the coaching staff has to do a better job of balancing the offense. Tonight they gave Josh a game plan that you would give someone like Nathan Peterman... a defensive offensive game plan. Josh delivered a victory tonight in spite of the coaching staff.
  8. The Bills hired former ref John Parry for what reason? It was obviously a bad spot and should have been challenged.
  9. I understand the point you're making. I try not to judge others because I don't know what they're going through. That was my point and I don't think it's that "weird." As far as Dunne's work, I don't pay for it so I don't read it and I'm not familiar with it so I have no opinion of it. I do know that there are some posters here I respect that defend Dunne's work so I'll continue not to judge it. I commented because I'm uncomfortable with the firestorm of contempt directed at Dunne.
  10. People here are attacking him but they don't know the circumstances of his life... there's probably a lot of double standards being exercised as people malign his work. As I said at the outset of my post, "I try not to judge others." Are you judging me? Are you familiar with the stuff I write here? Do you think that's "how I go through life?"
  11. I'd be interested to know how much the discussion here has added to his coffers... tangibly and intangibly. It's difficult to frame Dunne without knowing his financial situation. We don't know if he's wealthy (I highly doubt it) but on the other hand, many know his name. But again, he's betting on himself to make a living and doing what he has to do to stay afloat... which is also to say that there's worse things that he could be doing.
  12. I must be mistaken... if it was on Facebook it must be true!
  13. I TRY not to judge others... and fail quite often. But regarding Tyler Dunne, he chose a ***** industry at a time when it's becoming even shittier. In fairness to journalism, most industries are becoming shittier these days. That said the exception is not the rule and media outlets that provide employment to actual journalists are few and far between. Good journalism is dying. Even the final few remaining bastions of journalism are in contraction and under fire by coercive political players. It's becoming rarer that outlets stand by their reporting and more common that they make decisions based on marketing to audiences and avoiding litigation. Truth in reporting has never meant so little in the grand scheme of things than it does today. Good journalism jobs are hard to find. Further shrinking the market is that the audiences generally even can't spell "journalism" and it seems that most people would rather get their media fix in the form of a 32 oz Big Gulp Cola Slushee than from a cup of coffee. So Dunne can feed his family (or pay off his student loans, or whatever he's trying to keep afloat) by finding a way forward in his chosen profession or he can look for another profession. He's currently trying a disparate grab bag of confirmation bias, sensationalism, subscriptions, and long form writing in order to pay his bills. One thing you can say about Dunne is that he's not one of these people who's sending out resumes and waiting for the phone to ring... he's fighting for his professional survival.
  14. Phil Dawson and Lou Groza kicked until they were 43. Matt Bryant, Eddie Murray 44. Gary Anderson, Ben Agajanian 45. Adam Vinatieri, John Carney 46. Morten Andersen until he was 47 and George Blanda until he was 48. Someone posted on this fairly recently with some reasearch that showed that many of the top drafted kickers and punters are ones that don't stick in the NFL and that the ones that do are often undrafted. Yeah, Prater does not look facially young for a 41 year old when you're comparing him to a 68 year old actor who just died and an 80 year old actor. That said over the last few weeks the Bills brought in Zane Gonzales, Eddie Pineiro, Greg Joseph, and Caden Davis before signing Prater. They must feel that he's the best option available.
  15. Josh and Lamar have faced each other 5 times as starters. The Bills are 3-2 in those games but the average score is Bills 18.8 Ravens 21.4.
  16. But he didn't go to Harvard. You have your facts mixed up... after signing Jordan Poyer and Jordan Phillips, Beane then attempted to sign Jordan Mills and Jordan Palmer but Pegula nixed the plan. It hasn't come out yet but the team is very concerned with Beane's mental competency. He's starting to do some very silly things... the Davis signing the most recent. Did anyone see Beane's maniacal laugh on his recent podcast appearance? He's cracking up. Apparently there's what can only be described as a phobia, that he'll somehow ascend to the 53. Hear and heed! (great post)
  17. Lamar outplayed Josh? Besides the interception that he threw, there was this: Outplayed is not an accurate characterization.
  18. Albany, you're a good poster but I don't fully agree with you here. It's amazing how much crap is posted on this board... many people these days are completely gullible to fake stories and don't question the credibility of sources. Like @chris heff, I immediately questioned the veracity of the story for the same reasons... every report cited Jordan Schultz as the source, meaning that no one was corroborating it. Not being familiar with Jordan Schultz I was not ready to accept the report. One looks more foolish by accepting and even worse, commenting (and overreacting) on fake stories which do appear on these pages.
  19. Lifetime ban?
  20. Carter also had zero return yards.... even when you count last year's regular season.
  21. My nominee for Captain... Rex named IK Enemkpali, (a former Jets player he had signed after the Jets cut him) as a co-captain for the pre-game coin toss, a move widely seen as a trolling act against his former team. Enemkpali was the defensive lineman who had punched Jets quarterback Geno Smith in the locker room earlier that year, breaking his jaw and causing Smith miss the start of the season. Don't get fancy on us, Boyst. Speak 'Merican or don't speak nothin' at all. And Captain Hooks.
  22. No. Gordon Jump played Mr. Carlson. The Maytage repairman was played by Buffalo-born Jesse White. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_White_(actor) "An advertising director who saw his performance on the film's release soon cast him in a television advertising campaign for the Maytag Corporation. White played the role of a lonely Maytag repairman, "Ol' Lonely", a man with nothing to do as a result of his company's dependable products. The campaign proved wildly successful, and the actor began a long-running and highly paid career as the ever-lonely Maytag repairman. White continued appearing in both television and films during his many years as the Maytag repairman. His final film role was a small but pivotal role in the 1993 Joe Dante comedy Matinee starring John Goodman, and his last TV role was in "The Cadillac", an episode of Seinfeld in 1996. Seinfeld co-creator/star Jerry Seinfeld, who co-wrote the episode, had been a fan of White since his appearances on The Ann Sothern Show, and described having him on Seinfeld as a boyhood dream come true."
  23. Or else? It's not uncommon to not report a story without corroboration... depending on the source. It'll be interesting to see if they backfill the PS with a developmental player or a veteran.
  24. Yes, the live gameday thread will be over 100 pages by halftime with most everyone posting and virtually no one reading. There will be the usual bipolar overreactions, meltdowns and when someone asks a questions ("Is Tre White starting?"), 20 considerate (but oblivious) posters will give the same answer ("No, he was declared out on Wednesday.") including one person 6 posts later and another person 6 pages later. There will be a majority of people posting for no justifiable reason other than that they can... thus adding zero to the discussion and in fact, making it almost intolerable and unnavigable. It'll be the usual shyt show that we do in our own special way. It'll be great.
  25. One of the all-time greats... patrolling behind that flex defense.
