  1. He was by fare the last person to move... how do even explain that? He didn't know the snap count?
  2. Fair enough. What then do you make of Spencer Brown's comments that "he" wasn't expecting a base defense?
  3. I think you posted the same replay twice. Regardless, I disagree quite a bit that this would have been a "miraculous throw." It was underthrown and yet the DB just barely got his hand on it. Another foot longer and the ball's not tipped by the DB. That said, Coleman should have caught the tip.
  4. Spencer Brown said “They loaded the box well... they came out in base right on the first drive and I personally wasn’t expecting that.” If you read between the lines it's not too hard to figure out what he might really be saying. And considering the Bills didn't score until the 4th quarter, I'd say Brady was slow to adjust to the Dolphins strategy.
  5. I watch the All-22 from time to time and this is what I notice regularly: 1) There's lots of wide receivers who are not running full out on every passing play. 2) There's lots of pass rushers who throttle down when they calculate that they have no hope of catching up with the play. Most of the time this sort of common behavior only becomes a talking point when fans decide they want to criticize a player. You have a serious problem with reading comprehension. I said exactly: "As I pointed out to you before, people don't know exactly what happened between Allen and Beane regarding Coleman except for the quotes, posts, etc. indicating that Josh was factually in favor of drafting Coleman. Without actual evidence to the contrary, the reasonable position is that Josh had some sort of input, perhaps a tie-breaking vote." And please answer this question: What does anything I posted have to do with rabble rousing?
  6. There's a saying I embrace which is that "If you're the smartest guy in the room, you're in the wrong room." So, no, I don't feel particularly smart but there's lots of people who are obviously stupid. 🤣 This is possibly true but another poster trying to correct me on a different topic suggests that politics plays a big role in pro sports which is actually true... just not in every conspiracy theory case. With regards to a franchise QB having some influence over personnel matters, it definitely exists and sometimes the outcomes are good and sometimes they're bad. Tom Brady is a part owner of the Raiders and has never been a scout... but on one doubts that he'll have heavy input into the remodeling of the Raiders franchise. To the point, we can only guess at Josh's personnel input and how good he is at it. The numbers aren't bad. The testimony of many credible evaluators is that he's not playing to his own standards and that's my belief too. He played well against KC and then reverted to bad habits against Miami. He's been very inconsistent this year. As I pointed out to you before, people don't know exactly what happened between Allen and Beane regarding Coleman except for the quotes, posts, etc. indicating that Josh was factually in favor of drafting Coleman. Without actual evidence to the contrary, the reasonable position is that Josh had some sort of input, perhaps a tie-breaking vote. In your previous 6 paragraph screed on the subject your opinion was that Josh is a company man and was just being supportive of the pick, though posters both before and after you provided evidence of Josh's genuine support of the pick. Of course those that believe that Josh had meaningful input into the Coleman pick will have the right to take a victory lap if it all works out. Hmmm... "If EVERY Wide receiver is the problem, then it's probably the offensive coordinator." All of our receivers suck and our QB is regressing and inconsistent. Why wouldn't that be a coaching issue? I think people are putting way too much into that and now that we're in the pitchfork phase, doubly so. Just keep in mind James Cook's demeanor and the criticism he received regularly for the belief that he didn't care about this team. The rabble rousing here is textbook mob mentality. Everyone's pissed off and wants their pound of flesh.
  7. I'm saying that the simpler more logical explanation is probably closer to the truth than the conspiracy theory involving a team operative feeding questions to the media. 🤣
  8. How about this... Josh said what he said. I'm not gonna speculate on the sincerity of Josh's statement or the degree to which he follows wide receiver prospects. And I'm not gonna write a 6 paragraph reason why I think he wasn't sincere. Fair enough?
  9. I agree. Lots was made of Coleman's basketball background and how that could be an advantage as a receiver but he plays like a guy that doesn't understand football very well. Also fundamentals seem to be lacking in a lot of the Division I basketball that I watch. Things like overplaying to one side and boxing out seem to be lacking with some of these elite athletes so you can't assume that as a WR he would understand leverages. But mainly he's really struggling right now. If you've ever played competitive sports and gone into a slump, you know what it feels like.
  10. Believe what exactly? I believe there's a screenshot of the text. Are you saying that you don't think Josh meant it?
  11. To your topic title, there's nothing "implying" in McDermott's comments and it isn't "coaches," it's the Head Coach. That's funny. My wish is very different than yours. I wish that Coleman would take the criticism to heart and have a great game against Tampa Bay next week. In the context of perhaps dozens of posts here at TSW and on X calling into question Coleman's effort, your thought that the question was "fed" to the reporter is really weird. Who would feed him the question? Why? The 3 different documented instances of Josh's support for Coleman provided by other posters in this topic looks multiple times more convincing than your 6 paragraph hypothetical scenario of what you'd like to believe actually happened. Yeah, I kept waiting for a good replay of that play but never saw one. This play is a bigger indictment of Josh's play than it is Coleman's. Though he's far from the biggest problem with the Bills, let's not pretend that Josh is playing well this year. Yes. Why is it not the point? Because you say so? There's plenty of contempt for Beane here but having read through all 12 pages on this topic, I'd have to disagree with you. Yes the tipped ball that was underthrown by Josh should have been caught by Coleman. At least 2 occasions. There was the deep left sideline throw that Coleman quickly won inside position and Josh threw it outside to where the CB had the only reach chance at the ball. Even without the All-22 you can also see guys open underneath that Josh wasn't looking to throw to. He passed up several layups for missed 3 pointers.
  12. Hopefully it starts on Thursday night. Also, it's a fine balance but no QB should play fearful and be hesitant to pull the trigger.
  13. Criticism of Josh is generally not well-received here for good reason. He's a fine person, a great football player, and has been a huge Buffalo booster from day one. Generally people who dare to criticize him do so reluctantly and with mixed feelings. Josh is not playing up to his usual standards... However regarding #2 above, he's far from the top of the list of problems which ails the Bills. Regarding his leadership skills, Josh has been characterized as "our big golden retriever of a quarterback" which is partly to say that he doesn't have the a-hole gene in him like Brady, Manning, and Rogers (and Jim Kelly and Dan Marino for that matter) do. This is both why he is beloved and also arguably an area where he could become a better leader. The next time Josh publicly calls out someone in the organization will be the first. I highly doubt he even criticizes his teammates in-house. It would be great if the organization doesn't confuse Josh "not rocking the boat" with him being happy about the current state of affairs. This organization has done a good job of building a perennial contender around Josh... but they have to do better.
  14. I agree with you however this is the kind of player that McBeane have typically extended, the kind of player that McBeane fall in love with and reward prematurely. Milano was injury-prone before his extension as was Terrel Bernard. Ed Oliver missed 4 games in the season before he signed his extension. In 3 seasons Dawson Knox never played a full season before signing his extension in 2022. Greg Rousseau missed 6 games in 3 seasons before his extension.
  15. The numbers say that Kincaid is injury-prone. In his first 2 seasons he played in 29 of 34 games. This year he missed one game before not being able to finish out yesterday... plus he'll be out an indefinite number of games going forward. It's just my opinion but I think he's gonna struggle to stay healthy and to have a long career.
  16. There's definitely a growing feeling of skepticism whether this team is heading in the right direction... probably more than at any time since Josh has been our QB. The Super Bowl winner will come from the NFC, IMO. So the moral of the story is what? 😜 I agree that Josh shouldn't be above criticism and he absolutely missed several throws today as well as regressing to his impatient trying-to-do-too-much alter ego. But as others have said, Josh is far from the top of the list of reasons they lost and he shouldn't have to play flawlessly every week for the team to win. I think this is a fundamentally important point and one I've been thinking about a lot lately... teams play what they practice and clearly the Bills practice the run game. Clearly they don't practice the downfield passing game... at least not enough. I know Josh has struggled with downfield accuracy this year but it's stunning how much he and his receivers are just not on the same page. This team should devote an entire week of practice to nothing else but throwing the ball downfield. They're clearly not practiced enough in this area and it shows glaringly. They can run the ball fine and can afford not to practice run plays for one week. Please dear god, practice throwing the ball to the boundaries and down the field. Yes, if the offense can't bully teams with the run game, they have no effective answer. None. I thought about this quite a bit too. I was always skeptical that Miami or the Jets would ever pull the trigger on a trade with us. In fact if I were the Bills GM I wouldn't have spent much time trying to make it happen. In the wake of Chris Grier's firing, Miami has an interim GM Champ Kelly... who's an unknown quantity. He shouldn't be expected to adhere to any set of ethics or integrity that Beane might be expecting. There's zero relationship there. That path was fraught with pitfalls. If it's true that deals with the Dolphins and the Jets fell through, Beane has only himself to blame for putting himself in that position. His faith in their good faith was naive and he should have been very skeptical. This is a preposterous statement. In the true, overreacting, bipolar nature of this forum, half the people who were crying for that one final piece... the all-in move that would put us over the top are now saying this team needs a complete teardown. It's pathetic and inaccurate. By all appearance the Bills had a good 2025 draft. With another good offseason, this team has as good a chance as any to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Why would there be a tug of war that doesn't include Sean McDermott? It's clear that McDermott wasn't happy with Dorsey's offense but that might have had as much to do with the pass/run ratio as anything. While I'm sure McDermott is pleased with the run game, I wouldn't automatically assume he's a fan of Brady's entire offensive design and body of work. I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility that Brady is a short timer in Buffalo and I would not assume that his position is solid. Brady is the 4th OC McDermott's 9 years as Bills HC. Daboll left to become a Head Coach. Dennison was not retained and Dorsey was fired. There's not really a history of stability in that position.
  17. Yes, lambs are usually juicy enough to not need basting... but every once in awhile...
  18. So you sat there drinking in the air conditioning while watching others suffer? Do I have that right? 😜 You... eat cigars? 😊 I knew there had to be a logical explanation... 86°Hi RealFeel® 93° RealFeel Shade™ 91° Warm and humid with times of clouds and sun; a thunderstorm in spots late this afternoon Max UV Index3.0 (Moderate) AccuLumen Brightness Index™5 (Medium) WindSSE 8 mph Wind Gusts 15 mph Probability of Precipitation 55% Probability of Thunderstorms 33% Precipitation 0.04 in Rain 0.04 in Hours of Precipitation 0.5 Hours of Rain 0.5 Cloud Cover 64%
  19. Even though the original post includes playoff wins, it got me to thinking which NFL HC got to 100 wins in the fewest regular season games: Don Shula 137 Colts/Dolphins George Seifert 141 49ers Joe Gibbs 146 Redskins Tony Dungy 148 Buccaneers/Colts John Madden 150 Raiders Vince Lombardi 151 Packers Mike Holmgren 154 Packers/Seahawks Mike Tomlin 157 Steelers Bill Cowher 158 Steelers Paul Brown 160 Browns If McDermott wins tomorrow he'll have 93 wins in 140 games. Unless the Bills run the table he won't reach 100 wins this season. At his current regular season winning percentage (.661) he'll need 10 or 11 more games to reach 100 which would put him at 150-151 games. If McDermott doesn't win the 2026 Super Bowl he'll be the only one in the top 10 without a Super Bowl win as a head coach. Finally, Andy Reid is the only HC with over 100 wins with 2 different teams... and Reid finally won a Super Bowl in his 21st season as a head coach.
  20. That was your first mistake... 😆 If you want people to actually read your posts, never put 'em in the game day thread!
  21. True, though Hyde rejoined the Bills in December so his time with Bishop was fairly short.
  22. Great post and yes, whatever field you're talking about, progression is not always linear. It can happen suddenly, thus the light switch analogy. And there can be regressions mixed in as well. It was sadly unforgettable. I will say that every highly drafted player that isn't instantly successful gets lambasted by a large percentage of posters here. TJ Sanders and Landon Jackson are getting roasted unfairly at this very moment. Until this year Bishop's mentors were Rapp and Hamlin. Having Poyer and Tre White in the backfield with him has been very beneficial to Bishop. That's a pretty huge infusion in credentials and knowledge of the system. I didn't know if Bishop was a sure thing but I certainly wasn't writing him off either. You never know if a player can meet expectations until they consistently do. On that deep incompletion to Worthy (which was almost DPI) it was great watching Hairston essentially toying with him... displaying for all the world to see that he's just as fast as Worthy but bigger and stronger. Yes, but people on this board complain about everything. Take me for instance, I complain about people complaining!
  23. It'll be interesting to see to what degree if any, his career mortality causes him to try to be a better teammate... or if he'll fail miserably. As was just mentioned, there's probably some element of mental illness at work here too. Well, that's what parents are for.
  24. Thanks for posting this. I'd be curious to know what Spags did in the 2nd Half to reduce the effectiveness of our running game. That's a good question and I'd generally be curious to know about the few times other teams have been able to limit our run game effectiveness. Also it'll be interesting to see if the tight ends become more prevalent in the downfield passing game as the video illustrated. Like almost everyone else here, I feel like the Bills O seems like it's only missing one piece and that piece would work off play action very nicely.
