Don’t tell Big Turk, but NFL coaches, scouts and execs don’t consider Cook elite either.

AP: Jon Gruden loses bid for reconsideration in NFL lawsuit
Einstein replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall
this happens often! The idea of doing nothing sounds appealing when you’re working 50 hours per week. But it quickly becomes unappealing when the stark reality of 365 days per year of nothing smacks you in the face -

Only $40M of that $100M was left to be paid and they reached a settlement on that. -
How close is Allen to Mahomes if all things were equal?

Agreed. The media will media. It’s more frustrating that our own fan base doesn’t see it. -

What the flip? - Allen has 19 game winning drives in 94 career games. - Mahomes has 16 game winning drives in 96 career games Allen has more game winning drives and throws than Mahomes, despite playing less games. Some of you say Allen gets too much respect. I say he doesn’t get enough. -

But the problem is this: stating that someone has big lips is not inherently racist. You can certainly interpret it that way, but it remains an ambiguous statement. You might believe he is excusing the statement by saying that, to him, big lips means “liar.” However, this still does not make it inherently racist. The problem is the ambiguity here. An ambiguous statement needs interpretation to fit a particular classification. Others can interpret it differently. This ambiguity is why the Raiders did not immediately fire him. An inherently racist statement, without ambiguity, would be a racial slur, like the N-word, or stereotyping an ethnic group, such as saying “X people are cheap” or one of many other examples - but what Gruden said is not one of them. We also need to consider the overall context when determining whether something was said with racial intent. For instance, if there were more emails with ambiguous statements like the one mentioned, it would be easier to conclude that the person is making racist comments. This is because we do not generally assume someone would make repeated racially ambiguous comments without underlying intent. However, in this case, among 650,000 emails, there was only one email with an ambiguously racial statemnt? So we must ask ourselves - did Gruden wake up one day and decide “today is the day i’m going to make a racial comment in this email - but it won’t be anything clearly racist, like the homophobic emails I send often that I am direct with - this one i’ll make nice and ambiguous”. Or did he really mean that Smith is a liar? That is left up to you to decide. -

Homophobic comments, yes. Racist… there’s some nuance there. The only “racist” thing Gruden emailed is that DeMaurice Smith has huge lips. When asked about it, Gruden said he was referring to Smith’s propensity to lie and he often refers to liars as rubber lips. Considering that Mr. Smith does not in actuality have large lips, one may be led to believe Grudens explanation. -

I thought this story was going in a “13 seconds”‘ direction. That is far more painful at this point than the SB losses -
The Giants oline last year was historically bad

I do agree that the line has gotten better, as Gunnar mentioned. But there were still entire games last year where if it weren’t for Allen, there have been half a dozen sacks. I also fear what will happen with McGovern switching positions and Morse leaving. -

We were bottom 10 in time-to-throw last season and bottom 5 in pocket time. -

Allen had the 4th lowest pocket time of any starting QB in the NFL last season. 2.3 seconds. -

Josh Allen bailed the line out of numerous sacks. Allen avoided 75 sacks over 2021 and 2022 alone. Thats second most in the NFL. Last year, only 10% of the QB pressures the line gave up resulted in a sack (because of Allen’s mobility). -
How close is Allen to Mahomes if all things were equal?
Einstein replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes. It is a mixture of incredible route running by Kelce and impressive play scheming by Reid. People forget that the Chiefs went 12-4 with Alex Smith as QB before drafting Mahomes. 12-4… with Alex Smith. They also forget that in Alex Smith’s last year in KC before Mahomes took over, he threw for over 4,000 yards and had only 5 INT’s. Alex Smith… 4000 yards and 5 INT’s. The conclusion is clear: Much of this is Reid and Kelce (and also Hill when he was there). It’s Mahomes too, of course. This is not to dismiss how great he has been. He is great. But to ignore that he walked into the most perfect situation in NFL history is to choose to be ignorant. I have zero doubt that Allen has the rings if he was drafted to KC, and Mahomes would be talked about as runner up to Allen if we drafted him here. -

It is not dismantling - it is asking the question of who would have similar results if in their same situation. It is recognizing that each QB’s situation is different and that the environment they are in has much to do with their success. It is being wise enough to understand that Peyton Manning is a better QB than Terry Bradshaw, even though Bradshaw has more rings. It is realizing that Aaron Rodgers on the Patriots would have a handful of rings and that supporting cast and coaching are significant contributors to trophy achievement. ”He’d throw for 7,000 yards every year,” (if he was on the Patriots) - Tom Brady to an NFL coach back around 2018. If you don’t have the wisdom to recognize and understand this, then just say so. -

You mean like what happened to Josh Allen? Except Allen wasn’t given the opportunity to take the lead like Mahomes was. A coin toss made it so that Allen wasn’t allowed an opportunity. Another time that Mahomes was given an opportunity that Allen wasn’t. You mean the game where Allen led the Bills down the field and his kicker missed the kick? Butker didn’t miss for Mahomes. Another time that Mahomes was gifted an opportunity from a teammate that Allen wasn’t . These are perfect examples of how the legend of Mahomes is based upon opportunities that Mahomes was gifted. Put another way, these are perfect examples of times where Mahomes earned “legend” status with performances that Allen wasn’t allowed to have because he physically wasn’t allowed an opportunity to take the lead in OT against KC, and his kicker missed the kick that Mahomes kicker never misses. If Butker missed the kick in 0:13, does that negate Mahomes performance? If MVS dropped the catch against the Bills, does that negate Mahomes performance? Who is the better batter? Player A: hit the game winning homer Player B: Wasn’t allowed an at-bat Allen didn’t miss a throw to Shakir. He was hit as he threw it. -

Dorsey was fired because of a management conflict. Not because of his results. They had made the playoffs 4 of the past 5 years. The move was met with universal shock because he was considered one of the best GM’s in the NFL. -

Then you should re-read the post. I laid the framework for exactly why I believe Mahomes has experienced the success he has, why Allen has not, and why switching the two would result in a difference of success. You provided absolutely nothing as for why you believe switching scenarios would result in the same success for each. Personally, I think you’re just a Chiefs homer here to troll. You registered a couple weeks after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year, and only have around 1k posts, yet over 300 of your posts are about the Chiefs or Mahomes. That’s a very high percentage. Are you a Chiefs fan masquerading as a Bills fan?
