NFL Ref John Parry joins NFL team (Update: It’s the Bills!)
Einstein replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
This makes sense in a vacuum where timeouts don't exist. But in the NFL, timeouts are far more valuable than challenges. Which is why it costs you a timeout if you fail a challenge. That is the disincentive to not challenge. PS, take a guess at how many times McDermott has had 2 challenges in one game in his entire 7 year Bills career? To McDermott's credit, he agrees with me. He *never* made that mistake again (calling a timeout before a challenge) after he did in 2021. -

Thats awesome! The team who hired him hadn’t been released when I posted this thread. Absolutely love this decision by the Bills. Great decision by McDermott and company. They saw that we were deficient in something and went out to find ways to improve it. Kudos to McD and all involved in this decision. Nothing wrong with getting help in areas that you need it. -

Thats just a terrible reason to take a timeout. The challenge is a timeout if you lose. Just challenge it. The only risk is running out of challenges - but go ahead and take a guess at how many times McDermott has had 2 challenges in one game in his entire 7 year Bills career. -
This is an interesting idea by whichever NFL team hired him. John Parry will now be part of the teams crew that tells the Head Coach when to review a play and when not to. I love when teams do innovative things like this. “Officials look at the game so differently than players, coaches, and fans,” Parry said. “So to have somebody up [in the booth]: Hey, this is the mechanic, this is why that person made that call. And no matter what happens to this replay, if they flip it, here’s where the ball will be spotted. Here’s the down in distance. The clock’s gonna start in the ready for play, or it’s a 10-second runoff, so you could take a timeout. So you better start thinking about that, will you take one? Will you not?” https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/rules-analyst-john-parry-leaves-espn-takes-job-with-an-unnamed-team To be honest, I believe a hire like this could really help someone like McDermott, who in the past has taken a timeout right before challenging a play (which makes absolutely no sense at all).

Yeah I think they're right about that. I think there may be some upset lower bowl season ticket holders who realize that the upper deck has a better deal. Maybe you wont be as close to the action, but you will dryer, warmer (because you're dry) and have a pretty steep (good viewing angle).
-
I’m starting to look at this from a different perspective. I think the upper deck seats - whatever they’re calling those (500’s?) - may be the equivalent of our current club seats. - Fully under cover or close to it - Less crowding due to the larger concourses the stadium will have - Larger bathrooms - More food options The only thing really missing is the heat (which many club seats aren’t going to have anyway).

Chiefs Bills Playoff Replay / Bass Kicking
Einstein replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
The poster you responded to never said Bass was holding Allen back. He said that its not wise to risk a full season of an elite QB's youth with a risky kicker. You misframed what he said because you wanted to be sarcastic/edgy. Bass is 70% in the playoffs. He misses 30% of his playoff kicks. That's not good. The posters point was carrying that risk has a relatively high potential of wasting an entire season of positives with one kick. -
Chiefs Bills Playoff Replay / Bass Kicking
Einstein replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why do people do this? You know darn well the point he is making up but instead of acknowledging it, you twist it into a sarcastic reply that you knew he did not mean. And his point has merit. It's one thing to give players numerous chances when you are a mediocre 9-7 team. But when you have a franchise QB in their prime, you don't take chances of potentially throwing away an entire season down the gutter due to one players mistakes. And unfortunately, with kickers, those mistakes are magnified. -
Saw this today.

Einstein replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Im not an architect or stadium expert, but I have researched the past dozen or so NFL stadiums that have been built and the Bills are the *only* team who played coy with the renderings, what you receive, more than cursory details of updated amenities, etc. Even other teams who did the timeshare gimmick (example; Minnesota), at least released the pricing. -
Hansel is literally the last person on Twitterverse that I would be using to back up an argument. The number of times he has posted delusional arguments, been proven wrong, or perhaps even straight up lied (unconfirmed whether lying or just ignorant) is incredible. For example: He will say things like: "of those 111 trade ups, there have been 65 cheaper trade ups" ... but then provide zero proof. It is as if he just says things that he hopes are true and hopes no-one double checks. A few minutes later someone in the comments will often completely blow up his stat/argument and he will never acknowledge it. I would love to know if Seth Walder is right, or Hansel is right, but neither of them provide any evidence. Literally zero. However, judging by Hansel's reputation alone, I guess I have to lean toward Walder until someone provides contrary evidence. Sports Illustrated also quoted the stat about it being one of the cheapest trade-ups ever.

Draft Analysis - We're All Debi from Depew
Einstein replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall
These are just excuses. Most players drafted in the first 4 rounds get several chances on multiple teams. If it were just the circumstance they were drafted into, they would surely show their worth on another team. One example is Sammy Watkins. Yes, he was drafted into a poor situation with EJ Manuel, but he had many other opportunities - including with a HOF QB - and still couldn’t put anything together. -
Wasn’t me, but glad it was confirmed.

Just FYI: Legends has begun selling $10K club PSL’s now. I was also informed by two separate season ticket holders that they were told by agents that there's no need to worry about being moved to the "back of the line” if they don’t purchase at their meeting, since there will be seats left over to purchase after everyone has had their turn. Aka, they’re not on pace to sell out the clubs so you will have a second chance to purchase even if you decline at the presentation. * this doesn’t include field club

Uhm, was this a confession? “The NFL spent $20 million and found it was ‘more probable than not’ that I was ‘generally aware’ that someone may have deflated my footballs,” Brady said. “You could have just given me the $20 million and I would just told you I ***** did it.”

Einstein replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ok I understand what you are saying now. Yes I agree that the new stadium will be a much better experience and have upgrades over the current stadium. The aesthetics are (in my personal opinion)… rough. But design is subjective (as you mentioned), so i’m sure there are people who like it. -

There is certainly some miscommunication because I have no idea what you are talking about haha. I think we both meant different things and got our lines crossed. Im sure our brand new basic stadium will have a high level of quality in the concrete and steel… if that is something you thought I was somehow arguing? If you have inside info at modern amenities that our new stadium will have that blow away the 20+ year old stadiums you mentioned, I would love to hear about them. The only amenities I have heard are nicer club seat areas. -

When Pegula originally came in with all the bravado (ie: "If I want to make some money, I'll go drill a gas well"), I had the impression that he would be going all-out, even if that meant he would have to pull a substantial amount from his own pocket. I do expect our stadium to be on the same level or slightly better than the stadiums you listed. But you just named stadiums that are 20+ years old. Chicago's stadium is 101 years old and last underwent refurbishment in 2003. Steelers stadium is 23 years old. Browns stadium is 25 years old. Bengals stadium is 24 years old. Patriots stadium is 22 years old. Eagles stadium is 21 years old. I mentioned before that I see this brand new stadium akin to the stadiums that were built 20-25 years ago. Which isn't ideal for a brand new stadium. It is like spending $50k on a new kitchen and installing shag carpeting and red cabinets. -

I genuinely despise the design as well. It’s not a joke when I say that these are the two images I picture when I see the renderings: Nothing about it seems great. Everything about it screams “average”. -

Sigh. I truly cannot believe we are building a stadium without a roof. -
Tim Graham article on Kim Pegula and Bills ownership
Einstein replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
1) Tim Graham can be a jerk sometimes but he and Dunne are seemingly the only Buffalo media members willing to publicly speak on PSE’s private matters. Everyone else is too scared to upset the only business in town. 2) The fact that the son-in-law was “fired”, which is very different than resigned, implies that something not great happened. Graham wouldn’t have used that word willy-nilly. 3) The rosy picture that PSE painted when they first rode into town on white horses is being severely eroded in recent years. From the PSE slide-deck release that prioritized the families lifestyle, to the firing of every executive they ever hire, to the disaster that is the Sabres, to now this. As time moves on, I genuinely am becoming convinced that McDermott is keeping this operation stable. I don’t agree with all of his coaching decisions but he is clearly a good man and leader of men. Yeah… Terry is the last owner I think of when I think “loves the limelight”. He won’t even give a once-a-year press conference.- 218 replies

We do have an elite QB, but he is only accounting for 8.5% of the teams cap. And he accounted for less than 5% the past two seasons when we were also having cap struggles. As an example of why this excuse holds no water, the Chiefs have an elite QB as well. And have won 3 of the last 5 Super Bowls. Yet they still have over 20 million of cap space. Another example: The Bengals also have an elite QB. And we’re in the Super Bowl 2 years ago. And have beaten us twice in a row, including one of those times in the playoffs. They have $23 million in cap space.

Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
Einstein replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Here is the scale model of the seating. You can see how steep it is in the upper levels. Also shows how the roof covers a larger portion of seats than the renderings imply. The 100 level seats appear to be the worst in the stadium in my opinion.
