  1. "CB" Chase "Me" Claypool
  2. No hurry. Clapp is not so valuable that the Bills would be devastated by the Chargers trying to address their cent needs elsewhere. Let the Bills figure out what they've got in McGovern and Van Pran before they get rid of a sure thing in Clapp
  3. I think that with the way running backs are viewed around the league, Cook doesn't have a great deal of leverage in contract negotiations. I think the Bills will make him what they think is a fair offer and he can either take it or walk.
  4. The biggest name change in the Bills' roster is the trade of Diggs. PFF discusses it a bit in naming the receiver group as the biggest weakness of the Bills. They note that the Bills traded Diggs and got little in return. The author never thinks to ask why Beane made that trade. To read the article, you might think it is simply a case of Beane got fleeced. So, why did Beane do the trade? He didn't have to. He didn't do it to help the cap, at least not this year. The trade forced the Bills to eat a bunch of dead cap dollars, though eating those dollars this season probably helps the Bills with respect to the cap next season. There is no indication that Diggs demanded a trade. Obviously, Beane thought that Diggs had become a distraction. Whether his decline in production late in the season was due to Diggs himself or to the way that Brady was using him and calling the offense probably doesn't matter. It probably was not going to change. The Bills didn't need Diggs to continue with his cryptic online comments. If he'd remained a Bill and his production continued to look like late 2023, there's not much doubt the Bills would have had to deal a lot more with Diggs' dark side. We would have seen what a real Diggs distraction was like. It's true that the loss of Diggs means there is no guaranteed go to guy among the WRs, but Brady's offense doesn't seem like having one is a high priority. There are lots of questions that need answering in the passing game, but the answers might not be all that depressing for Bills fans by the time we get deep into the season.
  5. I think the Bills will get more from Von Miller than they did last season. He's not going to try and be an iron man though. If he can play 30% to 40% of the defensive snaps and get 8 or 9 sacks I would be ecstatic.
  6. It's early. Coleman is not especially fast, so he has to use other things to get open. NFL CBs on average are going to know a lot more technique in countering those tricks. Coleman is going to have to learn greater subtlety, up his game on fakes, double moves etc. We can't rule out the possibility he'll bust, but it's way too early for us to be trying to etch out his future in stone.
  7. Between needing room to sign Steveson and that rookie's ability to hold effectively on field goal attempts, Haack's fate was pretty much sealed. It that rookie shows he can punt effectively, I think Martin's days are numbered too.
  8. Calvin Johnson was the comp I immediately thought about. This guy is a bit bigger. In the right situation, he could be a monster in a few years.
  9. he's a pass rusher only, and a significant liability in run defense. I rather take a chance on a youngster (Javon Solomon) adding to the pass rush and hoping that he can learn to defend against the run too.
  10. Simple! Buffalo drafted O J Simpson. That was pre scum bag O J Simpson and by the time Simpson revealed he was a scumbag my loyalty had long since transferred to the Bills.
  11. I saw a USA Today article about that. The technicality was that Minnesota law stated that if the woman was drunk by her own consent, she could not accuse the men of rape. It was a stupid law and Minnesota struck it down two years later. My reaction is to ask, "Who is Gabe Steveson now? Is he the same person now that he was 5 years ago? It was a cruel, stupid and criminal thing that Steveson did five years ago and the law that allowed him to get away with it was stupid and wrong. However, I don't think it is the job of the NFL to rectify the shortcomings of a bad state law. I don't like to see any team sign scumbag players, but neither do I want to continue to punish players whose character may have changed since they did the terrible thing they were accused of doing. I think I have to trust my Bills to do their due diligence and look into the current character of the players they keep on and add to their roster, and make the right decision on an individual basis.
  12. I expect to see him in the slot 75% of the time.
  13. I check Bills related websites every day. I also monitor a mock draft database to see what the thinking is on the draft for the Bills. BTW interior offensive line or edge rusher are among the more popular position picks for the Gills, though I've also seen WR and DB.
  14. I'm hopeful that Elam is going to stick with the team. Playing time may be tough to come by though. Rasul Douglas is a very good CB and we all can see how solid Benford has been. I think Elam is going to get most of his reps when opposing teams play with 4 receivers on the field. Otherwise, he'll be mostly stuck on the bench barring injury to Benford or Douglas.
  15. Yup. He is on the team roster at www.buffalobills.com
  16. As per Sal Cappacio on WGR, Bass kicked a 70 yarder in practice.
  17. I looked him up. If he's not a Bill, it seems to be no great loss.
  18. My wife and I were foster parents for a time and our older daughter is a social worker who works with foster families. I appreciate any attention he can bring to the need for quality foster care. It is an unfortunate necessity in our society. There are people who are amazing foster parents, some who I might call mercenary foster parents and some who find themselves in over their heads. There is always room for better screening, better training and better support.
  19. The Players' Agreement does not allow them to have OTAs for the whole week. They did them for a couple days this week and they'll do it again next week. Every other team in the league does the same.
  20. Nothing against him personally, but that he was a bust for the Bills who caught balls by trapping them against his body is not debatable. He was a draft mistake.
  21. Perry Tuttle is on the list of Buffalo first round busts. I forget the year, but it was in the decade of the 80s. Joe Ferguson may have been the QB. He washed out of the league pretty quickly when the Bills figured out what everybody else apparently knew. Tuttle caught balls with his body and his hands were terrible.
  22. How about some love for Perry Tuttle?
  23. I think injury is the only thing that could stop the Bills from having an outstanding offensive line this season, and they are probably better prepared to deal with injury than last season.
  24. I think Buffalo selected Coleman over McConkey because Coleman fits better into the role they wanted to fill. McConkey is obviously more polished. I think the Bills accept that Coleman is less polished and have decided that long term fit was more important than the current level of polish.
  25. Coleman Has real talent, but he's also pretty raw for a first round draft pick. I don't doubt that he is going to start for the Bills, but I also think that Brady will go easy on him as far as his route tree is concerned at the start of his career. He'll gradually work in to the full route tree and intricacies of the Bills' offense. I don't think he's going to be a rookie of the year candidate, but there's no reason to think he can't have 50-70 catches and 700 or 800 yards as a rookie. Year two, if he's healthy, he passes 1,000 yards.
