  1. If you get DK for a 2 and a 5, and you turn around and get Miles for 1,2,1 next year… you will end up letting Shakir and likely Rousseau walk the next season and you take comp picks that are probably pretty good as you look towards 2026 to restock.
  2. If you could bring DK in, with an extension (I would assume he would want $25M+ a year...) for 4-5 years that brings his cap down, I would consider our 2nd and a 5th. Can't make that scenario happen? You pass and try to find another way to improve the WR room.
  3. He just had his most efficient season at 28 years old. He isn’t Newton where his body is already showing signs of breaking down. He is extending his mental game and it’s creating new ways that he can win. he may have 5 seasons left of “wow” plays, but he has 10 seasons left of winning ability IMO
  4. I agree to an extent, but who do you select over these guys that are the "elite" players? 2024: Coleman over Worthy (overhyped and is not elite) and McConkey (Slot guy ONLY, dont mistake it). Could have taken Braden Fiske, but I'm sure Bills fans would have loved drafted a 24 year old to the line with our first pick... 2023: Kincaid over who - Bresee out of New Orleans? Laporta sure, but even he had a very pedestrian season this year. Nobody selected after him is really an "Elite" player at a position of need 2022: Elam is a bust - Karlaftis would have been a good selection, however that would have been 3 straight d-line selections. Fair criticisms 2021: Greg was the best selection with what was left. Maybe you could pick Landon Dickerson over him, but then we went and selected Brown in the 3rd round who is an elite tackle (or just under elite) 2020: Pick traded for an elite player 2019: Oliver was the consensus pick at #9. He is a fine pick for 9th overall, but there are guys who have had better careers. Hardly a terrible pick, just not the right one with hindsight 2018: Drafts Allen, enough said. I've done deep analysis on Beane's drafting in comparison to other GMs, he is just under the best of the best (Roseman and Newsom/Decosta). There are criticisms, however it's a lot easier to say "we should have just drafted elite players" than actually in the moment doing it. There is a reason we seem to only lose to the Chiefs every year, we are REALLY good, but its fair to point at a few situations where we didn't maximize value.
  5. Not excuses, context. If you take a single statement and assume that's the entire point or context of a view on our head coach, that's a little shortsighted. Sean's role is different and his impacts (which may have a tangent line to the scenarios that I originally commented on) as a Head Coach are more around the managerial focuses of the team. Making sure timeouts are used effectively, managing high level strategies, etc. Specific play calls are not part of Sean's role, as Babich and Brady have taken them over.
  6. I think there is fair criticism around "does McD bring in the right assistants". Which I can see, as McD has chosen to go with younger assistants that he believes will grow into their role. Unfortunately, a win-now situation with Allen, so when Babich or Brady make bad moves related to inexperience, McD is partially to blame. I agree - no pitchforks from you. I just wanted to share that some of these things that were weird can be tied to actions from the coordinators - which can be traced back to Sean, but maybe not a clear direct line if that makes sense
  7. I expect Smoot and Johnson to get 1 year offers from Beane, they were active most weeks and had some success. I dont expect Phillips or Jefferson back. I agree that 2 guys will get signed, and I expect a day 2 pick (at least one) to be used on d-line.
  8. Kelce was bad during the Super Bowl, and was trying to complain about it to Mahomes on the sideline. I immediately thought of Diggs talking to Allen during the Bengals game and Allen just looking past him. Mahomes was the same way just saying "I got it" over and over again. Kelce 1000000% planned to win the Super Bowl, get Taylor down on the field, and propose with a billion cameras around. I think his body is starting to break down, and I dont think he has anything close to pro bowl ability after this season. I would prefer he not retire, as he carries a huge cap next year ($19M I think). Make the Chiefs deal with his old ass
  9. Depth on O-line is one of the best parts of this team. We may see guys like Andersson, Grable, Van Demark, SGP step up and take spots from Edwards and McGovern over the next few years. Beane has done a really solid job (along with Kromer)
  10. Cook is worth $12M to this offense, and I'd push for that amount to see if Cook would sign. The cap is consistently going up, so maybe after this year $15M is the new $12M... However I do feel we have the flexibility to pay him 13-15M if that's what it takes to get it done. Cook is the most intriguing situation for this year - I go back and forth on re-signing him often.
  11. Worthy continues to struggle getting off the line and being anything other than 1) A screen/sweep option and 2) Deep threat coverage breaker. That's not bad - and I dont think he is a waste, but he scored on a busted play where Mahomes made magic happen, and a deep shot against backups in garbage time. I think he can be a Hollywood Brown type impact, 900 yards and 4-7 TDs in a good year. But I haven't seen anything that would point to 1,200 yards Tyreek Hill level talent. The one thing I will say, he looks to be a gamer. I was worried he would lose confidence when matchups wouldn't go his way, but he seems to be a confident guy who can handle those struggles. Rice didnt play all year and has had legal problems, we call that the Von Miller special... Rice is going to be suspended for a portion of next year too, and you don't even know if he will be back to 100%. McDuffie was a great pick, and the Chiefs did a great job there. With that said, they are losing talent this year. They have $11M in cap, with little restructure ability (can free up maybe another $25M, but not much else), and have GLARING holes at LT and WR. They have Bolton, Reid, Hollywood Brown, Hopkins, Hardmen, Trey Smith, their LG (now that Thuney is at LT), Wharton, Omenihu all UFAs. They are a great organization - they will replace guys, but they are going to lose talent. I don't see them at 15 wins next year unless they expend draft capital or sign vet guys to one year deals who want to try to win.
  12. Honestly, there is a good chance unless Kelce retires they see a minor setback. Their turnover is relatively strong, and that's after we already know they have weaknesses on their o-line.
  13. Sweat will be PAID this offseason. Teams know they can get him without giving up draft capital, and with term. I'm not sold on Williamson where I need to break the bank. Bills best opportunity is to get Garrett and pair him with Rousseau for the year. Give up the draft capital, but add a guy who is the premier talent on the dline EDIT: Another guy from last night that I would want? Wharton from the Chiefs. He is a sneaky good player for them
  14. Worthy will at best be a decent #2. He is mecole Hardman with better hands. I still don’t expect much, unless Rashee Rice become that premier slot guy that frees up Worthy. KC will have a lot of roster turnover this year, it’ll be interesting to see where they go
  15. Big Ben, Stafford, and Aikmen are above him due to accolades, and Lamar is right there. Burrow is tied as well
  16. Voters made the right decision, offense quality is simply not comparable to what Lamar and Saquan had. Those guys were the best players on INCREDIBLE rosters, whereas Josh is the best player on a very good roster. The Burrow argument makes me laugh from some people. Burrow was an efficient volume thrower this year - he had 70 more pass attempts in the 4th quarter than Josh did, because he team was so consistently down. He had 652 total attempts compared to Josh's 483, that's roughly 4-5 more games worth. Project Allen's stats at Burrow's throw rate and he has over 5,000 passing yards, 50 total touchdowns and still fewer picks than Joe. And that's without Jamar Chase and Higgins. Burrow had to throw a ton this year, but he has efficient volume, Allen had a better statistical base at lower volume. Nick actually picked Josh as the QB he would start a franchise with if Mahomes wasn't available
  17. The guy is posting every ten minutes about the NFL honors, and the moment someone calls out his views he goes “I called in a wellness check on a friend this morning who was found dead so screw you”. bud, if you had that happen, why are you posting ***** every ten minutes. Go handle your personal life and don’t use it as a defense mechanism when people check you
  18. I’m already tired of Baltimore fans calling him the Joel Embid of the NFL. Lamar is closer to Embid than Josh lol it’s so hypocritical
  19. If he is available towards the end of the second, I'd love to get Eric Ayomanor. Good outside threat, with decent hands and likely 4.4 speed. If he runs a 4.5, I 100% could see him being there and I'd love to take him
  20. Not to jump on this, but I find you so wrong in your view I feel I have to. Sean LAST YEAR after their loss: “Good season overall, obviously not the result, the ultimate goal that we were looking to accomplish," McDermott said. "When you can have the success that we've had through six out of seven years in the playoffs, I think is significant and hard to do, as well as four AFC East titles and now five-plus years of 10 plus wins is impressive and did not come easy. So, I applaud the organization, all involved, the team, the players and coaching staff. And we look forward to continuing to reach and strive for that ultimate goal of winning a world championship." having success over the past seven years? I thought Sean thinks they have all been failures? Applaud the organization? I thought it’s all a failure. Success hasn’t been used by him, since his ONLY goal is the SB? Seans view of the growth mindset is one I agree with. Focus on growing consistently, address weaknesses - don’t IGNORE weaknesses, and have a single OKR to strive to. “Only” and “Ultimate” are two different words for a reason. You use only, Sean uses ultimate. He understands that you can have success and still fail your ultimate goal. Which he has stated several times in the past
  21. Which posters are claiming this year was an absolute success? Every one of those posters I’m sure would say the SB is their goal. There can be nuance in the idea of success. sean has always preached a growth mindset. His goal is the SB, but he doesn’t shy away from growth where the result may not have been the SB. i think your points over the last week have been very shortsighted and lack the depth you usually post with
  22. I disagree. I can understand the situation when KC is that well run. I can’t understand some of the negativity and the reason for negativity that people spew on here
  23. Smiley gone, Von will be a post June 1st cut, and we may see a few guys getting contracts over the next few months (Benford, Bernard, Rousseau, Cook) I would say the biggest shock move would be Cook getting an extension this offseason.
  24. Absolutely - and it's a question for another thread/day. I will say this - i understand wanting to keep a guy who you think can be a difference maker at the coordinator position for years as they come into their own. With that said, why would you do that when you haven't won the Super Bowl? It's why I'm fine losing Rousseau to FA if we go out and get Garrett or Crosby. Keeping good here while potentially losing out on great is not my favorite approach.
