If he even plays, and he plays ok, then you should be thanking Edwards and Carrington's position coach. Did you see him in preseason? He was lost. Don't you think that the coaches know if he is ready or not? Why are you surprised that a 3rd round DE is not ready to play yet? What data do you have to think this is an overwhelming anomaly? Why are you looking to blame Edwards? Happy you have a "good feeling" about this kid but it will take more than that.

The o-line is improving but still not a quality line capabile of dominating a game (think 90's). The Right OT position has been woeful. One thing that helps this line is Fitz. Fitz has speed, vision, and he is just plain tough. Lots of other QBs would be much worse playing behind this line. At a minimum we need to add more talent to the tackle positions.

For anyone Watching the MNF game
Bob in STL replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw it and I thought it was almost funny to make such a big deal about 1 and 8. But is sure felt good to have something positive on the Bills during MNF. Thanks Chris. -
Offensive and Defensive Rankings
Bob in STL replied to BillsVet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Offense is scoring just a little bit more. We have played some very good defenses too. What about total yards gained and time of possession? We seem to be moving the ball better and throwing down field much more. Getting more first downs and less 3 and outs. Any comments on those factors? Also, isn't our red zone offense much improved? -
I am off the Fitzpatrick bandwagon
Bob in STL replied to The Wang From Sang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitz is Fitz. Excellent leadership, not afraid to go for it, but inaccurate as a passer. We will draft a QB in the first round. Fitz will mentor that QB. When that QB of the future can outplay Fitz then he will start. Brohm is a backup and he will have to wait for his shot. This happens all the time. Brohm better be working hard becauase his shot can come at any time. If Fitz gets hurt or plays very poorly then Brohm gets in. Otherwise no. Brohm will at least get another look next year at camp. Additionally, I think you might see a few appearances of Brohm in the last few weeks of the season mopping up a win or a loss. Right now the team needs to improve and develop and build on successes. We do not need to play musical QBs so Fitz stays. -
What were the Bills thinking?

Why are we not playing our drafted rookies?
Bob in STL replied to ndirish1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You may be right but why would Ralph be so loyal? He fired Polian. He ran out Butler. He fired Jauron and he left a lot of money on the table to do it. Why would he like Modrak so much, especially a holdover from Donahoe? If anyone needs a scapegoat it is Ralph. Therefore, I think that Modrak is still around because Nix wants to keep him around. -
We will get a "nice" draft pick. No matter were we pick, we will not know who got the better prize for 3 to 5 years after the draft. Relax.

I think that Fitz is a leader. He is smaert and he sacrifices himself. The players notice that he puts it on the line. Wood is going to be similar to Ken Hull as a leader. At least I think so. Kyle Willaims and Poz on defnese. We need to get some better players around them. George Wilson is another that impresses me as a quiet leader. We need more. Cheers!

Our first drive of the 2nd half was awesome. Spiller is hurt. A few dropped passes. A few bad passes. Wind and rain hurt the offense. Both teams were effected. Be happy for week.

Why are we not playing our drafted rookies?
Bob in STL replied to ndirish1978's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This just in ... Buddy Nix did the drafting last year. Buddy Nix selects the players. We finally have a football man running the draft that will freely admit that he is responsible for drafting the players. Modrak is a scout. If Buddy Nix thinks that Modrak is not a good scout thsan Buddy Nix can fire him. Rookies are rookies and most of them don't play much. This is the NFL. Spiller plays. Troup plays as a backup. Carrington must not be ready. Easley is hurt. Wang is not ready. Moats plays. Batten is hurt. We cut a 7th round tackle and a 7th round QB. We have some undrafted players like Coleman and Howard that have contributed. Chill. -
Tha fact that we held any team to to under 14 is a bright spot. The weather was on our side, Detroit looekd like a dome tgeam. Otherwise it would have been even more scary.

I know you don't like Hangartner. Agree that RT is first priority. After that I would like to improve on LT and C. I guess you think Bell is more servicable than Hangartner? To me they are both midddle of the road.

Looks like Mansfield Wrotto gets the start at RT
Bob in STL replied to The Dean's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey, you forgot Langston Wlaker, Kirk Chambers and Jonathon Scott. This has to be the worst OT era for the Bills EVER!!!. Of course when you don't draft them ... -
Howard - looks like a nice backup gaurd that can swing to RT in an emergency. That is about it. Wood - excellent talent and upside. This is a transition year for him with the injury. Solid starter at gaurd and maybe even at center. Could be a pro bowl player some day. Hangartner - TSW whipping boy but he has been the best lineman on the team this year in terms of consistent play. Levitre - definitely will be a gaurd and solid for years to come. Getting better as well. Bell - Looks to be getting better at LT. I think I like his pass blocking better than his run blocking. Still, I would like to upgrade this postion. Wrotto - He will get a shot at RT. He has been somewhat of a journeyman so far. This is his chance to sieze a starting position and hold it. Green - if Wrotto plays well Green will be cut next year. Wang - a project at tackle or gaurd. Maybe he will surprise? Maybe he will be replaced by next years rookie OT? Urbik - Could not get on the field in Pittsburgh. Still can't get on the field. That tells you something. OT - We need to draft one. There is probably not even one legitimate RT on this roster. Bell looks like he can be "adequate" if that is what the Bills want to be. We also need to bring in a legitimate veteran presence at OT. Not a Green but a solid starter instead. If Wrotto plays well and takes the job in the last 8 games that would be nice.

Draft Simulation With Carolina Picking 1st
Bob in STL replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You always provide cool information. Thank you! PS - There is a chance that Luck stays in school, right? -
Pils, from all indications that I get you come across as a nice young man and I admire the optimism. Great avatar too. Reminds of a time period back in 1985 ... (thats another story ). I would like you to name who the great leaders on this team are. I am curious. One of my complaints is that we lack real leadership on this team and our top drafted players are often mentally weak whenit comes to football and leadership. Not talking about the players that are quotable, or cheerlead, or talk smack. Leadership. Who sets the example by working hard and teaches it on to others? Who makes the big plays when needed? Who fires up the troops when things get tough? I have a few names. Too few I am afraid. I am interested in your opinion here. Go Bills!!

So far in this same thread and in order have read, $1M, $1.7M and now $2M. Kind of like the group experiment when you whisper some information around the room. After about 8 or 10 people something in the information changes.

Fred is fine. He is pass blocking quite well which is great because we throw 60% of the time. His running is good when he has even a slight seam to work with. He is still a North-South runnign and running very hard. The holes have been few and far between. Look at how many times he gets hit behind the line of scrimmage. His recieving is down because Captain Checkdown is gone. Because of that, Johnson and Parish get to catch some passes. No upgrade needed with Spiller and Jackson at the helm. Time to work on the trenches.

What has happened to Ed Wang?
Bob in STL replied to pimp on da' net's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Levy did not play rookies either. Good teams with lots of talent (Pats*, Steelers) can sometimes plug a rookie in and the people around him can help. It is surprising to see rookies drafted after the first 2 rounds play enough to make an impact. Not impossible but not the norm. -
What has happened to Ed Wang?
Bob in STL replied to pimp on da' net's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You say the staff was high on him coming out of college? I say he was viewed as the best person in the middle rounds at a position of high need that they had yet to address. Big difference. Wrotto has more experience. He has started games in the NFL before. So far Wang has been injured a lot and did not look very good in pre-season, even against second half roster filler. Wang is a project, not a top prospect. -
Vikings players "hate" their head coach
Bob in STL replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Smerlas is a tool and he might have two brain cells on a good day. He drops down to one if he sneezes though. He dissed Marv after he left. He repeated acts like a jerk. My vote, take him off the wall, he is a Patriot* wannabe. Farve may be "one of the most exciting" and he is great. Not the greatest of all time though. No way. -
We have them at Boeing and we call them mechanics or technicians.

When can we seen Brian Brohm?
Bob in STL replied to The Wang From Sang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can see him every Sunday. He is on the sidelines, number 4, holding the clipboard. -
There goes Bill, keeping that 5th string competitve.
