  1. Crazy as it is, I think we were closer that year than the years we actually went to the Cup. I was too young to remember the Sabres-Flyers cup, so you will have to forgive me if I am wrong. We were riding the lightning that year. It is awful to think back.
  2. We had the Cup the year we lost to Carolina in the Conf. Finals. We lost 6 defensemen by the time the series reached game 7. We had guys who had come right from Rochester on the blue lines. And we still were up by a goal in the 3rd. McKee got a staph infection that day. What are the odds? In Buffalo...stacked against is what they are. Then Carolina goes on to a relatively easy Cup final. We had the Cup that year. We are so snake bitten. My weekend is now ruined.
  3. He should live on a plane or perhaps a blimp that constantly circles the Buffalo area and only lands for practice and games. Who would not want to live on a blimp?
  4. I read that the city has to agree that the dome remains within the top 8 in the league ( I don't know the criteria is on that). But since their dome was built, there have been 23 other stadiums built or renovated (including the renovation at RWS). St. Louis is not so quick to want to put money into that, so the Rams can use an escape clause to get out. I think it is very interesting because I didn't anticipate another team going through this before the Bills were placed in a similar situation. I think we'll see exactly what knid of groups in LA are looking for a team and what kind of money and stadium plans they have as well as what kind of support the the owners give to them.
  5. Having camp in metro Rochester is a major part of the regional strategy, so I can't see them moving. It's a no brainer having it there and I hear it is a success. Why ruin that? Canada got enough as it is.
  6. There are plenty of wealthy people in St. Louis that could buy the team, but it seems like there are many roadblocks like cross ownership rules pertaining to other sport franchises and so forth. A move back to LA is logical, but they need a stadium. My bet is on LA because they have plenty of people with the money that have been waiting and the city of Industry is waiting to build a stadium- contingent upon a team moving there. The timing might finally be right for LA to get a team again.
  7. The Rams are going to be hitting the market fairly soon and there is a good chance that they might not find a local buyer, so the team may be sold to outside groups. This will open the door for a possible move. This is a very similar situation to what we envision happening in Buffalo. Ms. Frontiere's heirs are not able to handle the estate taxes associated with owning a team, so they are forced to sell. Peopel are pretty nervous in St. Louis about a move. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
  8. Agreed- Antwoin was a important to the team that year they won. I had no complaints about him when he was with buffalo, he was a pretty solid guy.
  9. I'm not too scared of an uncapped year. I think the system will maintain itself. Jerry Jones has lots of money, but he is struggling to pay for his stadium in a bad economy. He can't go nuts and steal every player. Most owners are sane and know that rocking the boat would be a bad for the league. The NFL would not exist if there were 5 teams that beat all the other teams by 35 points every time they played. Now if it stayed uncapped, over time a system of haves and have nots would emerge and it would be more subtle, but it would make a difference. And we would deinitely have not.
  10. Also, I recall that Dick Vermeil wept alot. I don't see Juaron being so weepy.
  11. The Rams had an easy division, though. In fact they had a pretty easy schedule the whole year. That was a time when the NFL as a whole seemed to be defined by parity.
  12. A hotel is realistic. What do anything else? No cleaning etc. It's silly to do anything else.
  13. Delaware North could easily pony up that money. It is interesting to note that Rich Products was one of the first corporations to attach their name to a stadium. When I was little, in the early 70's and we had just moved to OP, I thought the stadium was named after some guy named Rich who probably built it.
  14. I don't know much of Skooby. I haven't read his posts. Why do people not like him? What did he do?
  15. #2? He'll be lucky to be #3
  16. My mom is doing is making the change as well for tax reasons. Now her primary residence will be listed as our condo in FL and not our house in OP. The amount of time she spends between FL and WNY will not change at all, in fact she is basically still a WNY'er. We have neighbors that recently did the same. The savings are pretty big. I wonder how much of Buffalo's population loss is attributed to people that actually don't really move? I would not be concerned about Golisano moving either.
  17. When things are going well and the team performs, we get praised, when things are going badly we will get no love. You have to develop thick skin and not worry. If we turn it around in the next year, people will heap praise. The criticism is painful, but right now, true. Frankly, who cares what they say.
  18. What an awful week with his daughter and now Kemp passing away.
  19. The Bills are never moving. It's true. I heard this. From me.
  20. Very Satisfied with the Lynch, Edwards and Poz draft. I remember being pretty psyched on Poz alone.
  21. Whoops! I meant 8-8 at best. Likely 5-11, though
  22. I see 6-8 at best.
  23. They probably need him to start doing things for that reality show too. He had dinner at Tempo. You can see everything on twitter. He posts like mad.
